More and more these manic threads are popping up on mumsnet, wild posts and theories and then hundreds of posts brimming with excitement about catching them out or exposing them. It’s like a game or a hunt. Have many of you crossed the line from interested to addicted?

Not had chance to read this thread apart from the first page but can see what’s happening, as I predicted on another thread, when the shit really hits the fan as has happened with Harry losing his case and the public meltdown interview which spectacularly backfired on him, the fans go very quiet, but comeback on mass once the initial flurry has had died down to insult regular posters, happens every single time when their heroes cock up big style.

I recall you saying that on another thread. Can you predict lottery numbers too? Asking for a friend 🤣🔮

Well I did the Euro millions on Friday and that’s why I’ve been quiet on these threads today as I’ve been out super yacht shopping! Will PM you Tuesday’s numbers! 😉

@IAmATorturedPoet, it also appears that due to the thread title that posters have been lulled into thinking that calling other posters addicts is not a personal attack!

I agree.

I’m not sure what the point of this thread is tbh but I don’t think it’s genuine or ‘in the spirit’.

It seems a bit desperate to start a thread where the sole aim is to focus negatively on a particular group of posters. It does though align with where the couple themselves are currently which is also looking a bit desperate.

Yes, very good point. It's just all a bit weird at the moment.

I think that perfectly sums up the Sussex Squad!

Also very cross! 🤷‍♀️ , I think I’ve been exceedingly polite considering I’ve been basically called an obsessive addict!!
but apparently it’s insulting to point out the thread is not good!!

Totally agree, if a poster in the Doghouse section started a goady thread to say all posters who like dogs are mentally unhinged, obsessed, (pick your insult of choice) then I don’t think it would be allowed to stand.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 11/05/2025 21:03

I presume I can start a thread then about Sussex Supporters being obsessed and addicted to Harry and Meghan and call them insulting names as a homogeneous group?

I have no idea why you would repost your comment that was deemed to have broken Mumsnet rules. Bizarre

I suggest that as your post was deleted for a reason, it isn’t prudent to repost it!

I’ve read lots of posts calling the Sussex squad names, maybe not a thread of its own, but lots of posts within other threads. I really don’t think being called addicted to posting about Meghan and Harry is much of an insult though.

jeffgoldblum · 11/05/2025 21:13

Whether you think it’s bad or not , it shouldn’t need to be pointed out that calling a poster an obsessive addict is a personal attack and against guidelines!

BigWillyLittleTodger · 11/05/2025 21:13

Reallyhowisthatthecase333 · 11/05/2025 13:43

I haven’t mentioned the word hate on this thread actually.

No, what you have said is worse

Whereas I would use the adjectives: obsessed, prejudiced and unhinged!

Why not start a thread about Sussex Squad though? I don’t think they everyone who defends Harry & Meghan are Sussex squad (if you can believe it, I do occasionally defend and compliment them 🤭) but if people are happy to start a thread about attacking posters who aren’t licking H&M’s arseholes, why can members starts a thread criticising Sussex squad and Stans?

Well, recently we have had lots of stuff about the Royals not being religious enough/ wearing the wrong thing to a funeral. Now we have anyone who talks about anything to do with the Sussexes is obsessed / addicted. It’s just the flavour of the week. Most of this seems to happen at the weekend as well. Not really worth being concerned about imo. I have better things to worry about than randoms on the internet who want to judge others for having a discussion with others about something they find diverting 🤷‍♀️

BigWillyLittleTodger · 11/05/2025 21:20

foreverblowingbubbless · 11/05/2025 14:13

And now we have a thread with posters with new names or new posters who never normally look at the RF threads but just happened to see this one and who come on to repeat all the same old shite abuse. Funny that isn't it? Cowards.

👏👏👏👏👏👏

Reallyhowisthatthecase333 · 11/05/2025 21:21

I think some posters are trying to get this thread deleted for their own reasons.

I think it’s fair, and in the interest of balance, that it stands.

I am not a member of any squad and I happen to think that the op has asked a legitimate question.

And I fail to see why being called an addict is considered insulting, if there is absolutely no truth in the accusation or question,

The answer is open to debate.

I think it would be interesting to discuss why everyone is as interested in all members of the RF to the degree that they appear to be tbh.

What's bizarre is that anyone Reported and that my post was deleted for pointing out that Dopamine + Validation = Addiction. And that the post you responded to was my first post on this thread so there was no again about it.

Maybe mumsnet see it as an observation/fact to say someone is obsessive or addicted if they can see posters posting lots of posts. I don’t know what they allow or class as a personal attack and mumsnet moderation is inconsistent to say the least.

Someone called a friend of mine ‘a fucking nutter’ years ago when she was struggling with post natal depression and asked a question on here and mumsnet tried saying that they were going to leave it up and that my friend should ‘challenge it on the thread’. They did eventually delete it but I’d have thought that would have been taken as a personal attack without having to argue.

Try it and see if they allow it. If you use the same word, ‘addicted’, then I think they couldn’t really not allow it if they allow this one to stand. I don’t think saying someone is addicted to posting about Meghan and Harry is an insult so maybe they have chosen their words carefully.

I don’t think it’s the being called obsessed or addicted that’s the issue. I like talking about the royal family, fashion, current and cultural issues. I probably am addicted to talking about the royal family, like some are addicted about talking about cars, celebs, vacations etc, I think it’s the ‘hating’ phrase that is the problem. It feels like if you’re not licking Harry and Meghan’s arsehole, you are labelled a hater, no matter what they’ve done to make people take the piss out of them.
