I just thought I would start second thread since I noticed the first one is full. It has certainly dominated media reporting. I saw a snippet on Sky news earlier. A document from Harry saying its a dereliction of duty to stop his security. Erm who just whizzed off to the USA and left all the duties behind. I havent watched the whole interview. I wonder if he'll appeal again.

Can someone please remind me why H and M found it impossible to stay in the UK?

They wanted to reduce their royal duties that is become part-time royals free to make their own money but still retain all their royal privileges. The Queen said no. You're either in or out. They went off in a strop first to Canada and then the USA.

.... and are doing their very best to be half in still be doing their pseudo royal trips to random places, using their titles etc - cringe!

CatsWhiskerz · 03/05/2025 19:15

@binkie163 - that poor stable hand was also the daughter of a palace worker too if I recall correctly, possibly in the stables too - can you imagine 😳

Thedom · 03/05/2025 20:04

I think Harry has probably made things more unsafe for the rest of the RF, the ones who don’t have full time security, there is so much discussion about those who don’t have the kind of security Harry has, it must make them all a bit more vulnerable.

NewAgeNewMe · 03/05/2025 20:27

A point that hadn’t occurred to me before @Thedom

i really think the government will have to get involved soon as Harry can’t be allowed to carry on being a thorn in the side of the U.K.

My2cents1975 · 03/05/2025 20:32

I think the BBC car crash interview exemplified H's disconnect to reality. The Labour government is struggling financially, has been decimated in the recent elections, and needs trade deals with various countries/unions including the US and EU (neither of whom would react well to any suggestion of their taxpayers paying for a prodigal Prince's security).

H and reality remain parallel lines as evidenced by the fact that H thinks his theatrics are of any relevance to the PM or the Home Secretary or any government official.

It is all downhill from here for H because, as ever, H steadfastly believes that he is the victimiest victim that ever victimed. Therefore, H will never come to terms with the fact that it is his reckless choices and actions which landed him in his current predicament.

billysboy · 03/05/2025 20:42

He’s due to appear on bake off soon
so he can have his cake and eat it !

KittyTinker · 03/05/2025 21:11

At the beginning of the interview Harry is asked why he needs taxpayer security and one of his answers is that the police have jurisdiction abroad. In his trial he produced evidence including a letter from the NYPD about his Manhattan car chase. However in his written statement he declares that this has only ever been about security for himself and his family when visiting the UK. Seems a bit contradictory to me.

That's Harry for you, he's full of contradictions, the problem is, so many believe him.

Sorry if this has been covered, but how do H&M justify their criticism of Thomas Markle for selling stories when it’s literally all these two do these days?

Plus, if H&M can forgive the royal family, why can’t they forgive Thomas as well?

Such a good point!

Errrrr….Im no fan of Andrew but ‘bunker’ Harry did NOT serve in the way his Uncle Andrew did.
Andrew was a helicopter pilot who flew his helicopter to try and draw Exocet missiles away from the Royal Navy Ships during the Falklands war.
He also flew his helicopter into smoke from burning ships to try and save sailors - like Simon Weston.
For all the repulsive man he has turned out to be, in the early 80s he was a brave man doing his duty to Queen and country.

I think Andrew is a horrible person but he actively served our country in the Falklands war.

According to the girl in question, it was in a field behind a pub and he gave her playful slap on the behind when he was finished.

Agreed, Andrew has a reputation for being a horrible person, but he's never bad-mouthed or betrayed his family.

Thank you for being fair. I am not an admirer of Andrew, either, but he did real work at the Falklands time. He may well have behaved in a snobby way towards colleagues and was maybe not put into as much danger as others, but he was definitely on active service.
Just because someone turns out to have done awful things more recently you can't just wipe out something useful he or she did in the past.

I totally agree with this. How is this idiot being allowed to hurl insults at his family and RAVEC with no consequences whatsoever? I appreciate King Charles has cancer but the “powers that be” need to do something now to stop this incessant bitching and moaning. Does Harry not realise how privileged he is getting air time to deliver his rant?? Who else’s gets to slag off the King, the government (albeit the previous one) and a BBC interview where NONE of your outrageous claims are challenged? Seriously KC needs to have a word with Sir Keir and tell him to get the government to put an end to this pricks nonsense.

Since Harry's a free man I was going to ask what the heck you expect them to do, but really it looks like it's time for this again:

Been wondering if before Spare was published anyone said to Harry 'this will burn down your family relationships forever'. He really doesn't seem to understand that the hurt and betrayal he caused cannot be wished away for his convenience.

PullTheBricksDown · 03/05/2025 22:50

What can the government actually do, though?
