Harry's new interview 2

I just thought I would start second thread since I noticed the first one is full. It has certainly dominated media reporting. I saw a snippet on Sky news earlier. A document from Harry saying its a dereliction of duty to stop his security. Erm who just whizzed off to the USA and left all the duties behind. I havent watched the whole interview. I wonder if he'll appeal again.

Very true! Royal adjacent but yes who really knows.

EsmaCannonball · 05/05/2025 20:55

Undergraduate degrees from American universities aren't worth very much, pretty much the equivalent of UK A levels. The system is designed so those who want the really top jobs have to keep paying for graduate qualifications. (This was first told to me by a group of doctoral students at Princeton.)

EsmaCannonball · 05/05/2025 20:59

As for the countries on the faux-royal tours providing state security, I wonder if they are actually paying Harry and Meghan to do the tours in the first place? (Which would be a whole other can of worms.)

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/05/2025 21:10

You're correct, @Mylovelygreendress; Ghana has indeed also been mentioned, though I don't think that's ever been confirmed either?

I feel a tiny soupçon of pity for him as he is so obviously damaged and is systematically sabotaging any hope of reconciliation.

The other 99% of me sees a real hypocrite who has betrayed his family and cannot see the contradiction in his own arguments and for whom the fault always lies elsewhere.

Unbelievably vulgar to mention the King's health in the knowledge that such a statement would become instant global headline news. He lacks boundaries and is a loose cannon. A security threat, ironically.

I believe him when he says he misses England. I am sure he does. Had he married a well grounded sensible countrywoman he could be living a lovely life with his family on a small country estate now with people who would keep him stable, and his old friends from school and the army.

Instead he is trapped for life in bland, plastic California, with a partner who only exacerbates his faults.

Good god have you even been to California ? It's far more wild and beautiful than our dreary little island could ever hope to be. The wildlife is incredible as are the mountains and beaches. I'm sure he's missing our wonderful grey weather in Blighty.

PullTheBricksDown · 05/05/2025 22:56

California is beautiful. When watching Meghan's Netflix series the best element was the setting which was truly gorgeous and made me want to go (I've never been there). That for me makes it sadder that Harry is still brooding over the life he left behind and not fully appreciating the beauty in the immensely privileged life he's got in the USA. It's not that the weather in the UK is something to miss as such - but the thought that you can't go back and experience it again, now, that's different..

You're not from the UK, I take it?

The UK contains many islands, of which nearly 200 are inhabited on a permanent basis. The landscape, wildlife and weather are varied. It is a shame that you and Harry do not appreciate it.

That is a really weird photo Meghan posted on Insta, the kids almost look like they are not wearing any clothes and Archie looks like he is dying for a pee. Harrys legs look so out of proportion to the rest of him.

I am sure she could have found a better image of the three of them from the back, so I wonder what her game is in posting such a terrible image.

Black and white photos of gardens never look good. I bet that backdrop looks lovely in colour. But the chosen aesthetic must prevail! It does have a kind of horror vibe to it what with the faceless figures walking away.

Beesandhoney123 · 05/05/2025 23:35

Does H have a pr company? I can't imagine who is advising them/ him and how they can get it so wrong.

Perhaps he will come back as isn't his visa up for renewal? I do wish someone had asked him what he thought of Trump. Why didn't he suggest his president step in and negotiate? Betcha its on the cards:)

I'm surprised Meg hasn't gone into politics tbh. She has the ability to talk and talk uttter bollocks and say nothing, lie through her teeth with a smile on her face, change narrative to suit herself, a husband whom is a real live Prince, 2 photogenic kids and no shame about using any of them to promote the American dream.

Thedom · 05/05/2025 23:43

They have PR people coming out of the wazoo, their own team on both sides of the Atlantic and teams of freelance consultants.

It just beggars belief how they all appear to be so terribly incompetent.

TheMeasure · 05/05/2025 23:45

I don't suppose it's that the PR team is incompetent; more likely that H&M won't take advice.

BIossomtoes · 05/05/2025 23:51

Not only that but he’s a shocking interviewee. Whinge, whinge, whinge, just awful. And that was with a very unchallenging interviewer.

Vespanest · 05/05/2025 23:51

His visa is what surprises me about the interview, the IPP has been mentioned from the very start of his legal proceedings on here. A backdoor attempt to get it and roundly accepted he'd never get it. But to go on tv with the "signal to other countries" just feels like an own goal. I could certainly imagine if he'd won his case and somehow managed his end goal Trump would not be entertaining it.. it's a case of being careful what you wish for. California is too hot for me in the summer

Pointless paying PR people then.

You’d be amazed how often it happens.

Re the garden photo - it’s May now but some of the small trees have no leaves on the whatsoever. I don’t think it’s a new photo. Quite possibly it was just one she had on her phone or perhaps it was going to be used when the Netflix series should have aired in March but had to be postponed due to the fires.

Why release it now? To send a message to his father that he has grandchildren he may never see again unless he helps sort out Harry’s security costs.

I'm guessing that's not the California Harry and Meghan spend time in though, is it? Meghan particularly strikes me as a very urban person, Harry less so.

It's her saying " look - they are walking away from you" 🙄

I wonder what thoughts are going through Harry's mind today when/if he watches the coverage of the VE Day celebrations in London.

The WHOLE DAY was deliberately designed to upset me, VE Day was just a mask for the fact that EVERYTHING about it was directed at me to make me look stupid. I can’t believe they’d stoop so low as to drag veterans in to make it look like they’re on their side.

Loads of beautiful places in California, and other parts of the USA. And any other country you choose to name!

That doesn't mean you can't love and appreciate where you are from.

When I came back after a couple of decades living in some incredibly beautiful parts of the world the UK felt like home in a way those other parts of the world didn't. And I came back with an even greater appreciation of all sorts of things here, particular landscapes, terraced brick houses, the smell of newly mown grass...

Of course, other people leave and prefer their new environment. But I can understand why someone would miss the UK.

Harry seems to have ditched his way of life (and old friends) for Meghan.

I don't admire aspects of his previous lifestyle - hunting and shooting animals for fun, for example - but there is quite a difference between gradually moving away from it because YOU are finding it distasteful, and suddenly abandoning it because a new partner 'shows the light'.

He doesn't appear to be happy with his new life. If he was happy, he wouldn't be engaged in these fights over the past, he would be showing that the best revenge is moving on and enjoying life. Because as long as you want revenge you are trapped in the past.

ChevronShoes · 06/05/2025 04:12

What are odds that one of them has a mental health crisis next, all the fault of the RF of course and only resolved by restoration of security and status

It also looks photoshopped.

I think your last paragraph sums it up really well. If you are content and have a fulfilling life, you move forward, you let things go. He chose to have a new and different life, yet clings on to the past.
