Harry's new interview 2

I just thought I would start second thread since I noticed the first one is full. It has certainly dominated media reporting. I saw a snippet on Sky news earlier. A document from Harry saying its a dereliction of duty to stop his security. Erm who just whizzed off to the USA and left all the duties behind. I havent watched the whole interview. I wonder if he'll appeal again.

Interesting. He's such a nasty manipulative, mendacious character, isn't he?

I have come to that conclusion @IsoldeWagner . I’m starting to move away from the idea that his woes stem from having a sad and disruptive start in life and towards the realisation that he’s just a pill of the first order.

True! I'm actually in awe of Meghan's levels of tolerance.

Not quite Jeff, I think that look needed the eyeliner for full effect!

Ah ! Good point! Was forgetting the eyeliner! 🤦‍♀️

Ohpleeeease · 04/05/2025 19:20

The interview will do nothing to help his cause, which is utterly lost. We can only wonder what his next desperate move will be. I think he realises he can’t chuck any more money at it, I sincerely hope Yvette Cooper isn’t the star struck type and tells him to shove off with his demands.

BreadInCaptivity · 04/05/2025 00:58

Who would have done that though?

He was then already in the US and had cut his ties with anyone likely to point out (the bleeding) obvious.

The publishers wanted the money from the book. His wife likely wanted the money and had little regard for his family.

As to whether he thought this would be a consequence, well I don’t believe he would have thought so.

At every point, his kick back has been “they made me do it” - be it his family, the grey suits, the press
etc.

The fact he’s talking now about forgiveness, still plays to his track record. He has nothing to forgive, because he was forced to do these things.

He can’t see that all of this stemmed from his and M’s response to being told you can’t be half in, half out - a massive flounce without any due diligence into issues such as security.

Remember it was ONLY after this that he started having a go at his family.

I believe he genuinely thinks he is the aggrieved party here and that he expected his family members would not just forgive what he “had to do”, but apologise for “making him do it”.

I simply don’t think he’s intellectually or emotionally capable of a level of reflection that would prompt any other/more nuanced level of his own culpability because then he’d have admit to himself what a clusterfuck he’s got himself (and his wife and children) into.

As pp’s have said, I just can’t see how they can possibly maintain the lifestyle they aspire to in the long term unless there’s a radical up shift in M’s financial endeavours.

At present, that’s not looking like a good bet, but to be fair she’s throwing a lot of mud at the wall, so something might just stick (though it’s unlikely to be the runny jam).

The Netflix series deal was signed for £80m and included the original documentary they did, plus now her at home with Megan nonsense, as well as voiceovers. It’s not new income. With Spare and the Spotify podcast deal, they are looking at £110 million. It won’t last them long. What will they do? No inheritance from Papa… wonder what Granny left him.

I think by the time you're 40 you have to take some responsibility for yourself, even if you did have a traumatic time as a child.

Many people have childhood difficulties and come through them without nearly as much support as he will have been given.

Sounds like Hazza.

This picture makes me sad. This was the Harry everyone knew and loved.

110 mil a lot. That & inheritances enough to last decades? What are the yearly outgoings?

Their house is reported to have 9 bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a spa, gym and a dedicated team of almost 15 staff members. That’s a lot of operational overhead. Security. lol. School fees. They probably have annual outgoings of £10m per year. They’re young. They will need more cash to live until 80 comfortably.

Blimey, that's a grander life than the royals!

Those figures aren’t all income though - the Netflix deal for example means Harry and Meghan were given the money to produce content, so they had to pay all the production costs out of that. Also Netflix has said on the record the reported figures given for their production deal were not accurate.

Also, they will have to pay tax, fees to their agents, fees to their publicists, lawyers (we know they have a lot of legal bills!), California property taxes, security, staff etc etc. Those expenses will significantly reduce their net take.

Thanks. What might the real figures approximate to? Any ideas?

Ah just seen this so 20 mil a year to maintain a lower than average (in their circle) life?

Point is - I don’t think this was ever the “real” H.

And that’s deeply sad.

I stand by what I’ve said previously, I think he’ll end up a bitter, old divorced man living on his own in one of the lodges on Windsor Park. Grace and Favour as he has bugger all left after losing the house and paying support and alimony. And whatever is in the book his ex writes afterward, ensures he’ll probably never date again.

Have been musing on another point re the interview.

Somewhere upthread I think @GiveMeSpanakopita said it was pre-recorded, and I've seen comments elsewhere suggesting it was recorded the evening before (not sure how people would know).

Would this not be a breach of the Court embargo?

Surely the interview was pencilled ages ago, scheduled as soon as they knew when the judgement was coming, recorded that afternoon (soon after 2pm) and turned around for transmission later that day. No need to disclose anything embargoed.

A quick google shows bodyguards cost between $60 and $100 per hour, so if they have 24/7 security, that's a possible $876,000 per year for one guard .

IsoldeWagner · 04/05/2025 20:14

Wow. Harry is going to have to "write" Spare 2!
Let's hope it's as nasty and unpleasant as the original 😂

It is going to be millions, IMO, that they really can't afford.

NormaMajors1992coat · 04/05/2025 20:23

When David Linley was born , he was 5th in the LOS . He is now 26th .
This is Harry’s future.

Surely Harry is Margaret in this scenario, or Anne, not David Linley who was a grandchild but never a child of the monarch.

So Anne was 2nd in line when she was born, Harry was 3rd. She is now 18th I think.

Yes, and not one complaint from her about how it's worked out.

DancingFerret · 04/05/2025 20:32

Reportedly, the end date for the Netflix contract is October this year. Posters on other fora are of the opinion Harry's marriage is already past its sell by and he is smiling to order to comply with the contract and tolerating life in SoCal until he can return to the UK once and for all.

I’m always slightly baffled by why a house with 9 bedrooms needs 16 bathrooms 🤔

I know! I can't fathom it. A bit different to Royal residences, that's for sure!

What are signs the marriage is in trouble? Their front is united (?)
