Would anyone like to join me in my attempt to unite the board and discuss our favourite royal outfits (before it enviably turns into another bun fight 🤣)

I’ll start with my favourite Catherine outfits first…

Her hair looks a lot lighter I thought (from the BBC website anyway!)

I know. I thought the outfit was a bit odd but I loved the boots. Must be so nice for her not to wear heels.

Yes-I think the jacket would have been better with different buttons-maybe bone or leather ones? And I know she loves skinny jeans, but maybe a bit looser?

Lascivious · 29/04/2025 19:35

Kate’s hair looks spectacular but wtf was that outfit? Skinny jeans are so out Kate, and the shirt and jacket? No.

myrtleWilson · 29/04/2025 19:40

Appreciate this is slightly off topic, but I do think W&C do these types of visits well - they spend a good time talking to residents, did some practical stuff, celebrated and understood island life etc. Am very much left wondering who bought Catherine a chainsaw for a christmas present!

The worst outfit Diana wore, ever!

Yes, and she wore quite a few!

She probably impulse bought it in Aldi’s Aisle of Treasure….

If I had legs like that I would be wearing those too 😊

I always feel slightly uneasy seeing Catherine in skinny jeans. I have no idea what the late Queen’s bottom looked like and I think that’s how it should be.

BasiliskStare · 29/04/2025 22:24

I do think that Kate could do with a good 4 or 5 inches cut off the length - Now not for one moment do I think women should have their hair cut short as they get older but I think hers just looks a wee bit draggy. I can see why she wants it long because at times she suits and looks great with a proper up do and it looks good on her at formal occasions , but a bit of a proper trim I think would suit her. I thought the jacket looked really good with that blue shirt but a bit more give in the trousers / jeans I thought would have looked a bit better . But on balance I reckon she pulled it off. (Not that she needs my approbation at all 😂)

@prelovedusername - that made me giggle re the Late Queen's bottom. - we can't even say "how unlike the bottom of our own late Queen" to paraphrase a more famous saying.

Uneasy? Gosh 😂

Has Kate got hair extensions do you think ?
Her hair looks fabulous.

Endofdaya · 30/04/2025 10:01

A few of mine…

I absolutely love Catherine’s Wimbledon looks.
Diana’s dress dancing with John Travolta
QE2 meeting JP2 - absolutely striking, love everything about that outfit, made even more striking in contest to the papal white and red.

I think it was a joke…..!

I’m still not convinced about William’s jacket on Mull. The pictures I’ve seen make it look a touch too fitted but it could just be the angle. Love Catherine’s jacket-apart from those buttons on tweed….

How would you know ? 🤷‍♀️

themightysossidge · 30/04/2025 12:25

I wasn't keen on William's jacket either. It looks like he had to maintain some kind of " official" outfit on this trip for whatever reason. He could have gone a bit more tweedy.

The Tweed Jacket was from Holland Cooper and they do tend towards a slim fit. I know this as I once thought I would splash out on something from them & it had to go back as it was very slim fitting. Also those gold buttons are their "signature hardware 😁" So I can see Catherine would feel comfortable in a v slim fitting jacket , in a way that I, for example , would not. 😂

I meant William’s! I like Catherine’s except for the hardware….

Oooops - tbf you did make it clear - my mistake. 😊 Actually I think bone hardware (or buttons as I like to call them) would have been nicer.

Catherine in that yellow dress is lovely. More people should wear yellow, Meghan looked stunning in her yellow shift dress as well.

I'm off in search of yellow clothes to channel my inner princess! 😀

Not everyone can wear yellow. The late Queen could, but I don't think it would suit Camilla. (It certainly doesn't suit me.)

I'm the same Honoria - I love that bright yellow but it just makes me look ill and washed out. But the late Queen could carry it off. I do think by and large camilla knows the colours which suit her - the only exception I think was that teal coloured evening gown which didn't do her any favours , but I think pale blues , pale pink , Cream , white navy all look great on her. I do think she has got formal "Queenly" dressing mostly down to a T.

Hoolahoophop · 02/05/2025 11:26

@BasiliskStare and @HonoriaBulstrode to be honest, I don't think I have ever been brave enough to try a bright yellow. But those two examples look so bright, positive and cheerful, not to mention elegant I would love to see it more.

Perhaps I should try before I splash out! I have never been good with understanding colour. I like the yellow on Catherine more than her gold evening gown I think.

I have always thought that Princess and then Queen Elizabeth must have been wonderful to watch grow. She was such a beautiful young woman, in gorgeous clothes, so feminine because of the time she grew up. A real princess and then a young queen, at a time when everyone needed a bit of a fairytale escape and patriotism was at its height. I have loved seeing some older pictures of her.
