Would anyone like to join me in my attempt to unite the board and discuss our favourite royal outfits (before it enviably turns into another bun fight 🤣)

I’ll start with my favourite Catherine outfits first…

Yes a shame but to be expected.

I think that old money beige only really works on blondes. I think it looks a big flat on everyone else.

I think it looks a bit washed out on blondes tbh. Blondes tend to have very fair skin, and too pale colours tends to wash us out. I think it looks better on swarthier skin. Meghan looks ok in it but she looks better in strong colours.

Yes she copies meghan a lot

Oh clear off, she does not! She's got more taste than Meghan any day!

If anything, it's the other way round!

I’m not even an M fan and I agree with you, it is really obvious looking at C’s style evolution she was heavily influenced by M’s cleaner cuts and more modern looks.

Too funny! Might agree with you if Catherine starts wearing over-sized, floppy, too long and ill-fitting clothes. I think NOT! She's got more class in her little finger than Meghan has in her whole body!

mainecooncatonahottinroof · 27/04/2025 15:03

I'd like to see their sense of style...

deeahgwitch · 27/04/2025 15:06

In the photo that @themightysossidgeposted of Meghan in a white mini, it really shows off her beautiful legs. I don’t know why she wore that ghastly wide legged trouser ensemble the other day.

It did but I thought it made her look very short, a bit squat?

That trouser suit was hideous, a total mess. Imagine Kate wearing that! She wouldn't be seen dead in it I'm sure!

@mainecooncatonahottinroof We have been successfully avoiding direct comparisons for a change. Shall we stick to the clothes? Otherwise we know where we will end up again 😆

I think the Meghan/Kate comparison thing tends to ignore that fact that Kate has been in the public eye as a Royal for some 15 years now. A revolutionary concept I know, but fashions for workwear have also changed in the last 15 years. Her wardrobe, like most people’s, has evolved over time.

Kate absolutely wore “clean lines” before 2017. For several years after her marriage her uniform was a sheath dress in a neutral colour, and for less formal engagements was a blazer, a simple top underneath it and skinny trousers/jeans. See below for some exemplars of Kate’s quintessential style from 2011 onwards. From what we saw of Meghan’s style both pre and post meeting Harry, she also favoured shift dresses (sometimes she and Kate wore very similar styles - the lace dress for example is the same DvF dress, but Meghan’s is shorter than Kate’s) - as well as trouser suits and separates paired with trousers, but plenty of shift dresses.

Over time however (and coinciding with Meghan being more in the public gaze) the hemlines of dresses have fallen fell considerably, and sheath dresses and skirt suits for more formal wear have been overtaken by trousers and trousers suits. Wide legged trousers have also both come into fashion.

Both women’s wardrobes have adjusted accordingly. I don’t think either is copying each other, I think they are both just following fashion trends.

Kate has worn some horrors herself though! I’ve already posted one such example on this thread. Don’t make me post more 🤣

It’s a shame because the vast majority of posters have posted positive comments about the clothes worn by all members of the RF, whether they are usually more or less in favour of that member of the RF. The critique has been restricted to the clothes. You have now made two somewhat snide posts about the Princess of Wales, saying she has either no style or copies Meghan 🤷‍♀️

That’s because she has never had any style and she does copy meghan. But since she has been copying Meghan she has looked more modern and less trussed up.

CurlewKate · 27/04/2025 15:52

That gold dress of Catherine’s is glorious. I love it when she’s a bit brave….

When exactly has Kate “copied” Meghan, then?”

CurlewKate · 27/04/2025 15:57

Really don’t like that white dress on Meghan. But I do like the recent “old money beige” (my new favorite descriptor) outfit everyone else seems to hate..

An Interesting thread about my Royal outfits has now attracted the USUAL suspects who have now used this as a way to bash Meghan which appears to be their full time job.
Both women are attractive , but there is little doubt that Kate was influenced by Meghan .
In fact, there were several outfits that were worn by Kate , which were practically identical to outfits worn by Meghan on a previous occasion .
I don’t think that Kate has found her own personal style tbh. She appears to a skinny jeans and sweater girl . She looks great in casual clothing

And once again, pics, or it didn’t happen…

Sorry, I don’t want to be the thread police but I am going to anyway 😆. This thread has been a refreshing change and an examination of the thing that royals have worn that posters both like and dislike, but without making it about the wearers themselves. It look s like you are trying to derail 🤷‍♀️

IcedPurple · 27/04/2025 16:44

Am I the only one who didn't really like Kate's wedding dress? The skirt was beautiful but I dislike the top part. The 'v' in the bodice looked harsh and gave her Barbarella boobs, and the lace sleeves, despite the exquisite work, looked itchy.

To me it was an inferior version of one of the most iconic royal wedding gowns ever, Grace Kelly's dream of a dress.

Kate has been around much much longer than Meghan and she has no need to copy her.

She doesn't wear ill-fitting, wrinkled, inappropriate outfits anyway!

"Usual suspects" - now isn't that ironic!

The thread was ticking along nicely until someone decided to make it a competition. It's not. Always someone to ruin the party isn't there!

It just riled me up I admit.

It's already ended up there unfortunately.

Oh what a load of nonsense in my opinion 😂

They've all got it badly wrong sometimes in fairness - not surprising really!

Imagine getting scrutinised every time you step out the door 😬
