Would anyone like to join me in my attempt to unite the board and discuss our favourite royal outfits (before it enviably turns into another bun fight 🤣)

I’ll start with my favourite Catherine outfits first…

This is true. My DM is short and overweight but well proportioned so looks good. I have a decent figure but have tiny calves - knee length skirts make me look like a chicken. You have to go with what works for you and not necessarily what you think looks good on someone else.

The same goes for colours. I agree with PP about the old money beige look not suiting Meghan. It might look polished but it washes her out.

Serenster · 26/04/2025 15:12

Meghan wore another version of the gold dress (it’s by designer Johanna Ortiz) in Colombia - longer length, with the straps left on and in a bolder print. I thought it looked much better than the gold version on her.

it's quite a difficult colour to wear. I'm very fair, so the opposite to Meghan, and it makes me look washed out too. There's a whole range of colours that M does look good in which she could wear. Dressing for a public event is like dressing for an acting role - you wear what's appropriate, not necessarily what you might choose to wear in private life.

I didn't like the green Commonwealth outfit either. I didn't like the colour, and I don't think it fitted properly around the bust.

I still don't like that style of dress on her, but the straps and longer length do improve it. I think wider straps would have been even better too.

The colour and pattern suited her, she suits brighter colours (jewel especially).

I don't think it should have had a front slit with the cut out as a design, one or the other, but not both.

MrsFinkelstein · 26/04/2025 15:25

I do love this look on Queen Mary, she's generally always fashionable and stunning.

I think they’re all stunning apart from Beatrice 😳 Sorry I think her dress sense is absolutely hideous 😳

Do you mean Beatrice or Eugenie?
IMO Beatrice looks fab since she got a stylist. Eugenie,on the other hand, never fails to get it wrong.

Kellywiththelegs · 26/04/2025 16:31

One of Diana’s iconic evening dresses, she wore this quite a few times I think she loved it.

I agree the pattern and colour are much better, but it still has the same stupid little hole. I saw Countdown the other day, and Rachel Riley was wearing an awful creation with a similar hole that had stockinette behind it. Absolutely hideous and a pointless detail imo

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 26/04/2025 17:13

I love Catherine channeling Audrey Hepburn from My Fair Lady in this outfit. Very old school glamour.

Beatrice. I just don’t like her style at all but that’s just me.

Most of my favorites have been shown but I haven’t seen this one yet…

I think that old money beige only really works on blondes. I think it looks a big flat on everyone else.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 27/04/2025 11:30

I do like Catherine’s style evolution and how she’s slowly moving away from the conservative coat dresses and embracing tailored suits and smart blazers. She’s really developed a more modern, professional style since she’s become Princess of Wales.

Yes she copies meghan a lot

Meghan tends to go for oversized wide fit clothes, whereas Catherine goes for tailored, slim fitting clothes for the most part.

I’m not even an M fan and I agree with you, it is really obvious looking at C’s style evolution she was heavily influenced by M’s cleaner cuts and more modern looks.

Since QE II died there has been a more updated look.

MrsPeterHarris · 27/04/2025 12:15

I always assumed the same @NewAgeNewMe- there’s a lot more freedom now the Queen is no longer alive.

I agree. Catherine has very fitted clothes. She is tall and blessed with a very slim shape so can get away with most things. She has to dress for events while incorporating certain protocols. Meghan is short however and tries to disguise her shape with her clothes. Like others she tries to minimise her " flaws" and emphasise what she sees as positives. Eg slim limbs. Sometimes she gets it badly wrong though. I think she suits a much longer length like the blue rain dress.

There are long running threads in style and beauty on royal fashion. Great care is taken to critique the clothes and not the person.

It's a good intention but let's be honest how great do things look on hangers compared to then on us 😂

Does she? I can’t say I’ve noticed that. She did wear tailored trousers and jackets in the pre-Meghan world, you know. A couple of examples…

It’s a shame because the vast majority of posters have posted positive comments about the clothes worn by all members of the RF, whether they are usually more or less in favour of that member of the RF. The critique has been restricted to the clothes. You have now made two somewhat snide posts about the Princess of Wales, saying she has either no style or copies Meghan 🤷‍♀️
