its funny that they would rather have the yorks around and mike who does stuff like Im a celebrity.(and is a sleaze) yet not Harry,
i would be disappointed if I went to a garden party and just got to meet them.
not that there is any chance of that happening.

I think - for their purposes - it's a case of Harry selling private details, salacious gossip, accusations and... shall we say "inaccurate" stories. For a lot of money.

TulipTiptoer · 19/05/2025 16:27

Well... Harry is apparently still friendly with them, particularly Eugenie, and the two sisters aren't cast out in the cold so it's all supposition isn't it.

As are most of the comments on this thread
However, what is not supposition is how Harry has made his millions over the past 5 years. I'd exercise caution around his contacts as well.

TulipTiptoer · 19/05/2025 16:42

Let's hope you don't have to mix with Harry then 😂

Prince Philip nodded at me at. Garden Party at Holyrood several years ago !
Why would Harry attend a Garden Party ? He is living his best life in the US and the only Garden Party that Meghan attended she told Harry she was bored .

You really wonder why they don’t want Harry around? Im sure you have a little inkling as to why.

I don't have any information he can sell! 😂

Well I’ve not read of any complaints from people who actually attended the garden parties that Beatrice and Zara were “wheeled out” so I think we can presume that guests were quite happy to not only see the King and Queen but the well known extended family too, I bet it relieves the pressure on Charles and Camilla and I’m sure they are grateful to their nieces and nephews to help out particularly when there is no obligation on their part.

I really wish I hadn't used that phrase! I'm sure people were happy to see the sisters and the Tindalls. At the time I thought it lovely that they were helping William who was having an absolutely terrible time with his father and wife both ill.

I'm sure if Harry had made the choice to simply step back and work for his money, like the Yorks and the Tindalls, he and Meghan would have been invited to help out. Rather awkward though at this point.

Of the 4 the only one I'd really like to chat to is Zara. And that's mostly because I'd love to hear stories about Anne, which I'm sure she wouldn't tell.

HiRen · 19/05/2025 18:12

I think the answer to the "why Harry but not Andrew/Mike/the York girls?" questions is simple: loyalty. Same as "why Fergie but not Diana?". Any display of disloyalty is considered THE most heinous infraction. Worse, seemingly, than all the many nefarious things Andrew has been up to.

It's properly Eastenders. He may be an awful human being, but he's OUR awful human being. Unless he goes public, in which case he's OUT!

And why this pressing and urgent and complete need for loyalty? Because - as in Eastenders - they all have too many dirty secrets to protect. The Mitchells (don't know if it's still them, haven't watched 'Enders since the 90s!), the mob, monarchies all over the world - they're all the same. You don't want to get on the wrong side of them!

CathyorClaire · 20/05/2025 11:21

In the unlikely event I was ever invited to a garden party I'd feel a bit fobbed off (not to mention itchy) if the royal stardust on offer comprised a pair of princesses seemingly hell-bent on continuing the dubious family business and the tacky and graceless Tindalls.

Mylovelygreendress · 20/05/2025 11:36

To be honest @CathyorClaire , I was so enamoured with the beautiful grounds , the very organised afternoon tea and the sight of so many people clearly enjoying themselves i didn’t mind that I only received a Royal nod ! Even my Republican leaning DH was impressed .

NewAgeNewMe · 20/05/2025 12:06

That’s grim @CathyorClaire

Well after reading an article recently, I agree. Mike Tindall got absolutely bladdered in London and rolled into his MIL's apartment at KP at 4am, and had to be up at 8.30am. Zara rang and couldn't stir him so thought it would be a great wheeze to lay it on thick with security and 5 armed Police with machine guns entered the property to wake him.
Both found it hilarious and Mike related it in a speech at a dinner.

Tacky and graceless sums it up. I do get a bit tired of the same old same old argument ... but they're not working Royals! They trade off it enough that's for sure.

CathyorClaire · 20/05/2025 13:01

😮

That's absolutely shocking, TulipTiptoer.

They should be made to pay the costs of that outrageous stunt but undoubtedly won't be 😡

Now you understand why I, as a NYC resident, feel about having to pay for security for H & M. H doesn't need a police escort to a tattoo parlor. He isn't even American.

I quite understand your resentment on this.

I've never supported or implied support for the police escort for a tattoo parlour visit. I think the unmarked police car in M's dramatic four vehicle theatre cavalcade was unecessary too and would imagine NY residents were pretty unimpressed by that as well.

BemusedAmerican · 20/05/2025 14:14

People are actually filing FOIA letters to discover the costs

Samcro · 20/05/2025 14:32

what has H getting a escort to a tattoo parlour got to do with a garden party?
daft and expensive but unless he was on his way to one,a handy bash.

Trying to think of the least worst Royal to talk to at a garden party. Probably either Camilla or William. Worst? Without a doubt Zara or Mark.

Mark or Mike? (Fascinated to hear more of the mysterious but charismatic Mark…!)

Samcro · 20/05/2025 17:12

I like camilla. She visited my dc an school and was very nice.
wouldn’t mind meeting William or KC, not Kate though as she is way too glamorous

OP posts:
MrsLeonFarrell · 20/05/2025 17:53

I bet Camilla is good fun. The King also sounds an interesting person to talk with. I always think William and Catherine seem rather shy so probably fun in private but rather conventional at a garden party.
