Watching the news about the horrendous rubbish problem in Birmingham, this was followed by Kates film clip rambling about Windermere saying we need to connect with nature and couldn’t help thinking it was inappropriate.I bet cancer sufferers in Birmingham would love to do this instead of holding down a job worrying about col doing chores that I bet she never does and have stinking rubbish with rats in the streets. I have no problem with her video but thought the timing was so off. They sometimes need to read the room.

They can't be arsed to attend an Easter service - beyond disgraceful - there are 2 fixed points in the Christian calendar - Christmas and Easter and if the heir and future head of the CofE can't be bothered to find some time to attend and do the national service then we have to wonder who they really are and what purpose they serve. Utterly disgraceful on so many levels.

Aa others have said, it’s just a photo op. And having French paparazzi invade their privacy on the ski-ing holiday last week they may have felt ill-disposed to their children being involved in another photo op.

At least this way you can’t criticise them for “wheeling out the kids to avoid criticism” as would normally be the refrain, right?

wordler · 17/04/2025 20:02

I suspect that everyone in the family is aware that William isn't going to get the long PoW time his father had and they've decided to maximize the family time while they still can. I hope it's not because they know something about Charles' health that isn't public knowledge yet.

Well that's a line to take as they say - if they don't want to put in the minimal hours of performative monarchy then the rest of the country will take note. It's the Royal Family. And if the Wales' want to check out out the basic stuff then fine but then why should we pay to support their gilded cage.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 17/04/2025 20:16

Im happy they are taking time out to focus on their own immediate family after their horrible 2024. They have my support, putting family before duty. This is why the next generation of royalty are going to be normal rather than going of the rails like others.

ThatAvidViewer · 17/04/2025 20:19

Charles when he was PoW never attended Easter Mass with the Queen.

King Charles & Queen Camilla used to always spend Easter in Scotland, during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. Queen Camilla’s first time attending Easter at St. George’s Chapel was in 2023.

This thread is bizarre!!!
it’s gone from indignant rage over upstaging of Birmingham bins , to the irrelevance of the scouts and now we have frothing over Easter services!

Why do you care what the Daily Mail and the Mirror think?

Because it’s a handy stick to beat them with of course!
and obviously it’s the devil’s rag when criticising the Sussex’s!

Indeed. What a flurry of posts.
"Don't watch that - watch this!"
<points to shiny Easter diversion>

Now don’t you go bringing in facts to upset the poster’s righteous rage!!!

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 17/04/2025 20:24

37.2% of the UK population have no religion, so I imagine the majority of people don’t give a shit that they’re not attending the official church ceremony. And that’s not to say they’re not attending any church service, just not the official service that most royals attend. After the last 12 months, I don’t blame them for wanting a quiet, private Easter weekend.

Well, no wonder Charles didn't mind then!

I have no problem calling out the behaviour of the Royals. Usually it’s Meg n Harry, but I think Kate and Wills are losing a lot of public good will towards them.

This is Williams bloody job! He will be head of the Church one day and he won’t turn up to the Easter service?! I honestly think it’s shocking.
Im bloody fed up of hearing it’s important that they have time with the kids. We all make time for our kids, but we still have to work! Funny how he has time to go watch Villa though!

Also, with Kate it doesn’t look great being a young woman who is now cancer free undertaking very little Royal duties while the King, still battling cancer and 77 years old, has still got a full diary.

If they continue to piss about like this, the public will turn on them. I fear they are probably very similar to Harry n Meg; live in their own bubble, don’t take advice and are a bit out of touch. Probably why the couples never got on!

RandyRedHumpback · 17/04/2025 20:29

Yes quite @PrettyFlyforaMaiTai . Considering last Easter was marked by their mother having to tell the world she had cancer (to shut the likes of Vera up) and start on her chemo, who (except a particularly vile person) would blame them for wanting to celebrate this year's Easter in peace and hopefully happiness, and put that trauma behind them.

The people of Birmingham could also dispose of their own rubbish. It's not hard.

This post is crazy.

Check your privilege, they really can’t. The only way to do this is to go down the tip and then you need a car, which is why a lot of the poorer areas are looking worse in Birmingham.

RandyRedHumpback · 17/04/2025 20:33

@AtIusvue William is not turning up to the Windsor service. That doesn't mean he is not attending any service on Easter Day.

Someone on another thread pointed out that Charles and Camilla usually spent Easter in Scotland rather than the Windsor service with the monarch. So the heir doing their own thing for Easter already seems to be a thing for them. Presumably if Charles had many years enjoying a quiet family Easter with his wife (and possibly her family members) then he is happy for William to have the same chance. William's commitment to a public service Easter for the rest of his life will come soon enough.

AtIusvue · 17/04/2025 20:41

He did in the 90s with Diana and the boys. I’m not sure when that changed and what year that occurred/related to Camilla etc?

But he bloody well should have attended every year.

Same as William should. No excuse.

wordler · 17/04/2025 20:41

Sorry not on another thread - on this very thread!

Why is their attendance at one particular church making you so angry, genuinely? It's not an official engagement. Surely they can attend church wherever they choose?

AtIusvue · 17/04/2025 20:43

This is Williams job! He’s not attending to his duties, of which he has very few.

I can’t believe the excuses that are being made for him.

Yes, that sounds reasonable. I'm not getting what I'm problem is.
