Watching the news about the horrendous rubbish problem in Birmingham, this was followed by Kates film clip rambling about Windermere saying we need to connect with nature and couldn’t help thinking it was inappropriate.I bet cancer sufferers in Birmingham would love to do this instead of holding down a job worrying about col doing chores that I bet she never does and have stinking rubbish with rats in the streets. I have no problem with her video but thought the timing was so off. They sometimes need to read the room.

I have explained multiple times already, because you’ve asked that question multiple times.

I don’t think you have explained it in a way I understand, sorry. Why you should be bothered about how someone privately worships when others in his position have also chosen to private in worship. I feel it is quite bigoted of you, if I’m being quite honest. You seem to take offence at being called a devout Protestant, as though it is an insult? I hope that’s not the case.

I know youll recognise my username @PrettyFlyforaMaiTai, so I can I ask why such hostility?

What makes you think so? My my, don’t you think highly of yourself. I would love to have your self confidence 🥰

I've just googled the RF and the Easter weekend and it seems from various sources that the Easter weekend is a PRIVATE weekend for the RF. I don't know what all the fuss has been about if this is the case.

Thank you. You have summed up my opinion in one simple post and article 🥰

It’s not an insult to be called a devout Protestant if indeed you are one. It’s offensive to aggressively attach any religious label to someone that doesn’t identify as such.

How am I aggressively labelling someone as such? As soon as you told me you weren’t, I did not describe you as such. As you will see from my posts. I just admitted to not being able to understand why you, as someone who isn’t a devout Protestant or Royalist, would be so bothered.

Which poster was I unkind to? Or used inflammatory language about?

I used the same language that I use when I talk about Meg and Harry and no one has a problem with that. Well, apart from the Sussex superfans.

The irony of being called an obsessed royalist by one poster and called out for using inflammatory language when talking about Wills and Kate by another, seems particularly striking.

Well I haven't called you an obsessed royalist, so the irony belongs elsewhere. I do think you are quite ignorant of the difference between public duties and private family matters the RF have been forced to share with the press to satiate their need to fill column inches. And yes, you brought the combative language into the discussion - it doesn't matter who it was aimed at, your energy was matched because that's how you chose to open your discussion. So you can hardly complain.

Yes. I understand.

But posters stating that he could be attending another church service for Easter, I’m saying there’s currently no evidence for that.

But what his personal relationship with the church is, I don’t care. It’s his public duty I care about. So he should be at Windsor for Easter.

I'm sorry, just catching up, and this may likely already have been pointed out...

But Charles stopped attending the Easter service at Windsor for many years - as already mentioned he and Camilla spent Easter in Scotland.

I fail to see why William is being held to a standard of attendance his father (as PoW) never was.

The Press are only making an issue of this because they're looking for some RF headlines, it's been a bit quiet for them so they need to stir the shit again.

I don’t think highly of myself at all.

But I’m a regular on the RF threads and recognise that you post and have started many threads. I know I have liked many of your posts. You’re pretty up to date with the RF news and I know you share articles. I do too, which is why I thought you would have recognised name and not seen me as a hostile actor but as someone posting in good faith.

Exactly. Glad i am not the only one who feels like this. If you cannot handle a healthy debate, best not be on Mumsnet at all.

No. You didn’t call me an obsessive royalist. I said one poster called me that.

But you stated I used inflammatory language when talking about Wills and Kate.

Im pointing out I’m seen as both a heretic and a royalist.

At no point, in any of my posts, did I say, it was a duty of state.

I said, there are duties, responsibilities and expectations on the Royals, the Easter service being one of them.

But this is not true!

smilesy · 17/04/2025 23:07

Back to the bins. Maybe Harry could swoop
in with some of his talking bins to help
out in Birmingham 🤪

My2cents1975 · 17/04/2025 23:07

The hierarchy in the Church of England is God ---> Head of Church of England.

So, if the Head of the Church of England (KC3) is ok with W skipping Windsor service, either a) share your divine enlightenment since God is the only one who can override KC3 and decree that W must attend in Easter Service at Church at Windsor or b) take the L and move on.

And round and round in circles it goes. I’ve answered these questions and you don’t seem to accept anything I say. I can’t change that.

How do you expect a person to answer ‘says who?’ About public expectations of the RF, that’s been brought about by decades of precedence?

utterexasperation · 17/04/2025 23:13

This is why they say never discuss personal finances, politics and religion. 😬

The fact is that you seem to be projecting your own views on to the general public and royals, when there has been several instance of senior royals not attending the Easter service as well as not attending events like Trooping of the Colour. Your opinion does not equate fact.

It’s not my personal view.

It’s why the story is being reported about William not attending. Why? Because he has attended for decades, him now not attending is a story. Why? Because there is an expectation of him to attend.

This isn’t complicated.

Well then you will be used to equally robust pushback from people who don't agree with you. I assume you don't have a problem when people challenge you in strong terms wrt the Sussexes, so I don't know why you have a problem with them challenging you on this topic, for which you have set the tone.
