Also Telegraph, she somehow snuck in and took the top job against everyone’s will. This is bizarre:

Meanwhile, The Telegraph has been told Ms Chandauka was not included on the original shortlist of candidates for the chairman’s role but “barged her way in” after an acquaintance at the charity introduced her to the recruitment consultant responsible for filling the position.
A source claimed that one of the trustees contacted her to “help” with the recruitment process as she had previously sat on the charity’s board. But she then complained that she had not been considered herself and implied she might take action if she was not put on the list.

She was, after all, “a highly globally connected US-based black southern African senior executive woman with an exceptional corporate pedigree”, she allegedly told the consultant.
Having outlined her qualifications, Ms Chandauka is said to have suggested she might take action unless interviewed for the position. “I will reflect upon this and what to do about it,” she is said to have told the recruitment consultant in writing.
She barged her way in’
“It was basically a threat”, the source alleged. “She was put in touch with the agent and barged her way in”.
The recruitment consultant then returned to the board and it was agreed Ms Chandauka should be included for interview, which in the interests of fairness was conducted by a panel who had not previously known her.

“Of course, she’s going to be quite impressive to those who don’t know her on the board, because, you know, she has been in Sentebale before, and she interviews very, very well, comes across very, very well,” said the source.
“She passed the interview with flying colours.”

The implied court action- is her saying she will go and reflect?

This is so weird

Fucking hell, that article. A masterclass in how to say "uppity Black woman" without actually breaking cover. I sincerely hope Sophie Chandauka has good friends and family round her right now, because the racist muck-spreading she's having to ensure is absolutely appalling.

I wonder how many of the people endorsing this shit were waving their pom-poms for BLM? Funny how their principles suddenly change when they are confronted with a situation which puts their white saviour complexes under scrutiny. Absolutely and utterly grim.

I hope someone at Sentable is keeping screenshots of all this. Harry is despicable enabling the frenzied Sussex pack of wolves to go after Sophie.

I am starting to feel sorry for the Sussex children. What kind of role model their parents are.

I’m surprised they haven’t gone for the young Waleses children or they and I don’t know about it. I suspect once William is king (hopefully a while yet) the gloves will come off.

Serenster · 01/04/2025 19:30

They must be very worried about what she can say to go all in on trashing her in this way.

Bontonbonbon · 01/04/2025 19:33

I said this during the ‘Where’s Kate’ debacle. The utter glee with which the Sussex Squad go after other women on their patron’s behalf is an incredible own goal. Their behaviour online is more damaging to Meghan and Harry than anything that pair get up to.

From the use of the moniker ‘derangers’ for anyone who disagrees with them to targeted bullying of anyone who vaguely critiques their idols, all they do is reinforce the criticism that Harry and Meghan are difficult, mean bullies who care only about themselves. Perhaps these are the traits an online Sussex campaigner looks for in an idol.

Yes this. They must be shitting themselves. Whatever will come out will end any credibility and good will the Sussexes may still enjoy.

I hope Sophie is safe and all her evidence securely stored.

RandyRedHumpback · 01/04/2025 19:34

Considering Harry wanted his mate "Brian" (not the Messiah, the naughty boy) on the board of trustees, my mind is boggling about who it is that Sophie C supposedly muscled out of the chairperson role. Could MM have been eying it up?

I agree. I wonder whether there are wealthy donors and philanthropists who are quietly watching all of this and thinking that SC is probably onto something, and one to watch and support.

If SC is truly as incompetent, unqualified, and ineffective as the former board claims, then why are they fighting like hell to smear her and take her down? If she really was that terrible at her job and there was evidence of this, wouldn't you just stand by, share the evidence and wait for her position to become completely untenable through public and donor pressure?

Uricon2 · 01/04/2025 19:38

The quandry that H&M are in (and have created, or at least encouraged) is this IMO. The Sussex Squad as I said upthread are a mob and mobs are pretty much uncontrollable. What they can do is turn on a ha'penny to attack those they previously supported. I think Harry and Meghan possibly dimly grasp this and daren't take them on, however reasonable any request to back off might be, because that is the antithesis of what mobs feed on. They are stuck with this pernicious, contradictory nonsense and sadly, so are people like Sophie C because of it.

Dr Frankenstein, say hello to your monster.

TheCraicDealer · 01/04/2025 19:39

@Bontonbonbon I’ve seen those Reddit threads too- the amount of posters who are adamant this this story is untrue and it’s just the DM making stuff up/looking for clicks even though it’s a named source who’s saying he has authority to speak on Harry’s behalf and there’s been no correction. Talk about delulu.

If the former board had any integrity and really believed Sophie was unfit to chair the charity, then surely they would report their concerns, and provide evidence to the CC .

Vespanest · 01/04/2025 19:41

Harry is protected by those who do not care what he does or says as long as the ultimate goal of keeping two fingers up at the royal family with no shits given for any collateral damage. Harry could literally say the N word on tv and whilst he's still estranged will be believed. It's why I don't believe that this is the end of the road, embarrassing yes but terminal no. I checked on Dr Shola she still cheerleading Harry.

Mylovelygreendress · 01/04/2025 19:45

I can’t be the only person who is keen to read the “ imperious” letter Harry allegedly sent SC.

I know, right. What is interesting is that the Royal Gossip thread is totally aghast at that statement from Harry’s mate. I think they’re going to lose a fair few people who still believed they were actually justice campaigners and not grifters. The level of sexism and racism in that statement is WILD!

IdaGlossop · 01/04/2025 19:48

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/04/2025 17:36

I've not read it, but am pretty sure Ms Chandauka doesn't have one - at least not as a result of her own academic efforts

Wasn't it an honorary title bestowed by some Uni ... ?

Yes, honorary so silly to use it. In my book, the only black mark against her so far.

Bontonbonbon · 01/04/2025 19:48

@Vespanest Is she genuinely cheerleading his racist abuse of SC? If so it really does prove she’s a paid agitator.

I’d hope they would follow the King and Queen of Spain’s approach to princess Leonors path.

William didn’t really get going with Royal duties until he was 30, Princess Leonor was making speeches, with the support of her father at 14 (in two different languages)
They have gave her a clear path, guided the whole way by her father and supported by her mother and sister. She has had a great education and is now undertaking military training. They’ve done an amazing job. She understands her role because she’s been training for it for a long time.

I understand because of what happened to his mother, William was allowed to have a childhood/teen years free from duties and responsibilities but I don’t think in hindsight that was the correct approach. I think the Spanish royals and British royals are quite close though, so I’m sure W&C will be getting advice.

Edited

I think that is a rather skewed perception - you have to remember that Leonor is in a very different position to William. Leonor is the heir but William wasn't heir until 2022.

Although William did not become a fulltime working royal until 2017 he didn't exactly do nothing

  • 2001-2005 - attended University
  • 2005 - Internships Bank of England,Stock Exchange, Lloyds of London as training in how the economy works
  • 2005 onwards multiple charitable engagements and internships for example - Red Cross, Mountain Rescue, Royal Marsden Hospital, Concert for Diana, Heads Together, Homewards, BAFTA etc etc Plus multiple foreign tours
  • Jan 2006 to Sept 2013 - military service in all three branches of the services including 3 years as a search and rescue pilot in the RAF.
  • 2009 - set up the Royal Foundation with Harry
  • 2014 - Cambridge University - Executive degree in agricultural management
  • 2015-2017 - Pilot with the East Anglia Air Ambulance Service
  • 2019 - internships in national security at GCHQ, MI5 and MI6

I think it was very smart of the Queen to allow William to do other jobs and roles when he was younger. I don't think it did Charles any favours to spend 70 years waiting. He has another 40-50 years ahead of him to cut ribbons.

Profhilodisaster · 01/04/2025 19:52

@Uricon2 H&M may have stood a small chance of stopping this ages ago when it first started, they definitely don't now .If they did say anything to try and call the mob off , like you say, I think they run the risk of at best being ignored (William is making you tell us stop) or making things worse , possibly with the squad turning on them .

I can't see a recruitment consultant putting Meghan on the shortlist for Chair. She doesn't even have any trustee experience. Then there'd be a conflict of interest issue with husband Harry as patron.

But if all the things being said about her are unnamed sources. And the papers have done their due dilligence. And all of the allegations are just tittle-tattle about what a pusht person she is....

She can't sue anyone.

And if the CC decides that everything is hunky-dory now that there is a new board of trustees.

How can she now defend herself legally? Or PR-ly?

Also Telegraph, she somehow snuck in and took the top job against everyone’s will. This is bizarre:

Meanwhile, The Telegraph has been told Ms Chandauka was not included on the original shortlist of candidates for the chairman’s role but “barged her way in” after an acquaintance at the charity introduced her to the recruitment consultant responsible for filling the position.
A source claimed that one of the trustees contacted her to “help” with the recruitment process as she had previously sat on the charity’s board. But she then complained that she had not been considered herself and implied she might take action if she was not put on the list.

It’s a dirty smear campaign and I think this source needs to reveal himself!

Disagree.

I also think not having a clear path set out for William and not starting duties earlier- led to Harry thinking he was more important than he was, always tagging along with William. He didn’t seem to grasp that William was on a different path until well after he’d married Meg.

I always remember the Obamas visiting the Cambridges at their Kensington apartment….and Harry sitting there like a plum. There was no need for him to be there.

William should have started much, much earlier and been given a distinct role separate from Harry.

CathyorClaire · 01/04/2025 19:59

In the last ten days of March, William visited Estonia, where he met the President and Ukrainian refugees and spent time with British troops, held an investiture at Windsor and visited Somerset and Aberdeen, in connection with projects on mental health and homelessness.

Maybe four or five days' 'work' then.

He's going to need that month long school holiday off and even if he doesn't my prediction is he'll take it.

The SS have gone for Louis in particular - he is too "wild and badly behaved" apparently because he didn't sit in his seat with his hands in his lap for hours at the Jubilee consort so W&C are "bad parents". Charlotte as well is "Too bossy" apparently.

... not sure they know many children

RF forum MNers have sometimes wondered whether there was anything H&M could do that the SS wouldn't defend.
