One of the white trustees comparing a black Zimbabwean (male or female) to the Ian Smith regime in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) is an appalling insult designed to wound, demean and infuriate.

As far as I can see it is one of 3 men and a matter of time until it becomes clear which of them is alleged to have said this and my main thought is what the Hell next?

Wasn’t there a trustee that left in December?

I think you are giving too much weight to the CC investigation. The CC investigation will focus on the legalities of the way the trustees ran the charity. Harry was not a trustee so is exempt from their investigation except in regards to how the trustees responded to him.

SC talked in her interview about Harry using several trustees as his "proxies" whilst, eg, trying to get "Brian" appointed to the board with no notice or discussion. I doubt this was an isolated incident. Whilst, from a governance and CC perspective, this is on the weak minded trustees allowing themselves to be unduly influenced, Harry will become charity kryptonite if it's found to be true. Nobody will want his as a patron or indeed a board member if he behaves with so few scruples, and regards a charity as his own little fiefdom. Reputationally, he's done for.

Skimpyy · 01/04/2025 14:27

IdaGlossop · 01/04/2025 13:50

In my view, SC's bravery will embolden others, not shut them down. As an example, ejecting Harry from Invictus to be rid of him and Meghan and establish the charity on a proper footing would result in a torrent of abuse in the media and on social media, but that might be a price worth paying.

I also believe that it's only a matter of time before the victims of bullying speak out and put names to their faces.

There were dozens of employees and colleagues who experienced or witnessed bullying and have spoken to various credible publications who were investigating and then publishing their reports of MM bullying (The Times, The Hoywood Reporter, Vanity Fair, Courtiers book).

I expect there are LA lawyers who have been trying to persuade employees to speak out. It takes time and reassurance that it wont backfire and ruin your own career. Maybe the time is coming soon when H&M reputation is in the pits.

You could be right but Google not being helpful!

ETA it appears Damian West, who is one of those who went in the last few days, was at Ampleforth with Prince Seesio. Schoolfriend connection misattributed to Harry?

I am lolling at the pancake mix as a hark back to fonder times. Pancake mix is literally what - flour and salt? Ffs. I would be EMBARRASSED to buy that. Also jam. As a decorative pot? Please. What a novel idea. Fucking hell it’s almost embarrassing. I’d be more impressed if she came out with a vibrator. Or something genuinely useful to women.

Wasn't Baroness Linda Chalker also on the board of trustees? I would not discount her accountability just yet. All the trustees had an equal voice and chance to stop this type of bullying discourse. It's interesting that all of them would have worked with Sophie C for years when she herself was a trustee. And then they all asked her back in 2023 as chair. What or whom made them turn on her?

potsandmud · 01/04/2025 14:31

His “dad2” - Mark - the one with ginger hair who looks exactly like him 🤨 was on the board. So not exactly an impartial bystander.

MrsLeonFarrell · 01/04/2025 14:32

Anyone posted Marina Hyde?

Thanks @RandyRedHumpback very good points, had completely forgotten her, she resigned in November @Atlusvue.

ETA she described SC as "almost dictatorial" and said her resignation was down to her.

The CEO (Richard Miller) suddenly resigned in December

CEO Steven Miller resigned in Dec 2024
Andrew rucker I think Nov 2024 - but was def 2024

She is really going after the Sussex Squad! The Daily Mail talked about them too in the article about SC shutting down her X account.

Yes I'm glad she highlighted the Squad. Their toxicity needs sunlight for all those victims of their attacks.

The palace were absolutely spot on keeping defined boundaries between C and MM. Meg was already showing zero sense of respect for how much effort was being done to gently induct her into royal life by a neutral figure. Her trying to become Catherine’s new BFF would have been a huge risk if they’d fallen out - which of course MM made happen anyway with her constant over reach and hypersensitivity. If anything she has torched her own path because she couldn’t have equal standing to someone she saw as her equal. It’s so grandiose and narcissistic it’s not funny. She’s like a parody of a narcissist.

It also needs to be remembered that Catherine was pregnant with Louis during much of the lead up to the wedding, plus she had two other children. Why on earth should it be her job, Meghan had Harry and plenty of offers of help.

MrsLeonFarrell · 01/04/2025 14:32

That looks like a favour to someone. She fails to mention that SC was forced to go out and defend herself after a total (coerced?) mutiny. Strange article. The facts simply are not in there - least of all a mention of the Etonian friend… instead she has just gone for SC jugular.

Lynda Chalker really interests me as she owned Africa Matters business consultancy part of the time she sat on the Sentebale board. I would be very interested to learn whether Sentebale bought any services from her company or clients and whether there was any conflict of interest.

Interesting she goes after SC for complaining about identity based discrimination. I think she is quite hard on her tbh - is she trying to look balanced?

ViolasandViolets · 01/04/2025 14:43

When she arrived and found out that there is a hierarchy among the senior royals did not go down well ...

I remember she was shocked that the hierarchy was also observed in private. Yet without the hierarchy you undermine all validity to the whole monarchy.

Vespanest · 01/04/2025 14:45

the board witnessed then ignored a racially motivated slur and yet these people are held up as proof of wrong doing of Sophie as they resigned when the shit hit the fan.

Not2identifying · 01/04/2025 14:48

I also think Marina Hyde was tougher on SC than she needed to be. I get the sense she would have had to sacrifice some of the humour in the article. And she wanted to present SC as the new Prince Harry (slinging insults at an established institution) and ran with the metaphor.

That is a completely biased article. Does it break some sort of journalist code?

Poor Prince Harry: what to do when someone close to you publicly trashes an institution you love?

I know, that's what I'm saying. But Harry having technically "no fault" doesn't not stop him being reputationally damaged by his own conduct (seeking to unduly influence board members), and therefore being given a wide berth by other charities seeking patrons and board members where his name is put forward.
