So they own the Montecito house?

I thought they had a mortgage?

I don't think all royals lack self awareness, certainly not Catherine, Anne, Sophie and probably not William either after what he has gone through. The Wales kids will probably have excellent emotional intelligence too.

On the other hand, even when courtiers offered guidance and support, it was refused by Mr and mrs Sussex.

With the Sussex machine being so very volatile, it just may be time to remove Harry and his kids from the line of succession.

I was just going to post that I don’t think that Meghan would ever have listened to any guidance, given the amount that was offered and turned down.
For that statement to have been put out, which I personally believe has all the hallmarks of having come from the Sussexes, highlighting how Meghan is THE MOST IMPORTANT WOC (unbelievable) just underlines the fact that she could never have functioned within the hierarchy of the RF. She had to be the most important member of the family and when she couldn’t be, they flounced. Now they are trying to say that she is more important than another woman of colour. You couldn’t make it up. Self awareness has gone awol for both of them 🙄

Conundrumseverywhere · 01/04/2025 13:22

It’s time African Parks was looked into as well. I can’t understand why that hasn’t happened. I’m sure Invictus isn’t as clean as a whistle either.

As my day wears on, the shock doesn't wear off. I just struggle to believe that someone would say that. I would have loved to be in the editors room at the DM.

I’m beginning to wonder if the daily Mail are playing a little game with Harry!!!

they must have known they had the article about dr c closing her twitter down due to racist and abusive comments ,
yet they ran his little article first ?! 🤔

But Harry was at the charity then. Doesn't prove anything.

Honestly!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/04/2025 13:25

I'm also watching the virtual clock for a statement which claims no knowledge of Alex 'speaking for H' and completely throws him under the bus in 3, 2, 1.....

In which case, @LemonLeaves, they'd have to hope that he too doesn't have "receipts"

Because they're in enough of a mess already and it's not hard to see what a denial followed by a release of emails proving the denial to be a lie would do ... especially when it wouldn't be the first time

I can't imagine what King Charles is making of this. I think if there was any chance of Harry with or without Meghan returning to the fold in any way it is becoming less likely by the day. He's an utter liability and while I don't doubt KC wants the best for him, there will be courtiers who are much more pragmatic and willing to drop the rope.

That's before we get to William who is not coming at this from a place of unconditional paternal love.

Ive been wondering about Williams and Charles reaction to Harry’s bully boy statement and now Dr Sophie being horrendously trolled, surely there comes a point when Harry’s behaviour is so abhorrent that it really is detrimental to the Royal family and therefore our Country? Our Head of State’s son is publicly bullying a black woman, the optics are just awful, not sure what they can or would be able to do but Harry carrying on with impunity really does call into question never complain never explain, though nothing was done either when Catherine was on the receiving end so I doubt the palace will respond, Harry’s hubris and bullying ways will continue for years unchallenged and now that everyone has seen what happens when someone does dare to stand up to them it will scare a lot of people to not speak. Harry and Meghan are tyrants they really are.

MayaKovskaya · 01/04/2025 13:30

Poor William. His only sibling has turned out to be a viper in the nest instead of a friend and supporter.
William has had to deal with his wife's cancer and the impact on his young children. At the same time aware that, because of his father's illness, he could become Head of State at any time.
Harry, who should have been there for him was not. Harry has betrayed him and Kate, belittled them, accused them, shared privacy for money.
All through such a turbulent time for the family.
Harry has proven what kind of a person his is, and although it must sadden William, he should take note.

As a patron. He didn’t work for the charity

Meghan's experience before marrying Harry couldn't have equipped her to deal with being internationally known, though. She's totally out of her depth and had she been guided by courtiers, could have made a good account of herself.

The problem is that she turned down all offers of support - even refused help from (then) Sophie Wessex. The Queen even parachuted in the very experienced Samantha Cohen to assist them, who worked for the Queen for 18 years but resigned after a year with H&M. Meghan was also "insulted" by the offer of assistance from equerry Lt. Col. Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah.

The problem seems to be that she doesn't take advice - she wants to do it her way. Which is fine. But then you have to responsible and accountable for the results.

I also think that Harry didn't really explain things to Meghan. Being at the time "most popular Royal" and "I'm equal to William" does not translate into most important royal. When she arrived and found out that there is a hierarchy among the senior royals did not go down well ... although for someone with an International Studies degree from Northwestern - I'm stunned she didn't know this.

As well as this, the late Queen's Private Secretary prepared a folder for her, with various things explained and advice given.
It's ludicrous to suggest that no-one helped her. The opposite is the case..

BigWillyLittleTodger · 01/04/2025 13:36

If that’s true it’s shocking, offended that a man of colour was offered to Meghan to help her? surely that is actual racism?

It's in Endgame. Scobie said her friends told her the optics of a black man helping her weren't good. They put his skin colour above his experience.

As ever, KCIII has to react to all of this as a father and a head of state. What would be a good outcome for the monarchy? That the charity stabilises and is able to continue so all the damaging stories die down. Ian Rawlinson is no doubt helpful behind the scenes. The problem of Harry's behaviour remains. I'm not sure they can do anything other than worry about it.

The RF seem to be trying to help Sentebale in a low key manner. The Royal Foundation (Will and Kate) seem to have donated in 2023.

I’d imagine that as a father that Charles is deeply concerned about the hole his son is digging himself.
but what can he do?
He can’t release a statement in support of him or even been seen to reach out to him because he’s likely only too aware that the accusations probably have some truth to them.
I’m imagining a Chinese wall being quickly constructed (if it hasn’t already been built) between Harry and the Crown.

so so sad on all sides really.

But I imagine parachuting Rawlinson into position within sentable was the best thing he could do in the circumstances.
and yes, I’m aware he was appointed weeks ago, maybe in anticipation of this coming to light?

Don't forget Lady Hussey was put forward to help her too. Tina Brown asks (in the Palace Papers), what this old white woman who had worked for he palace for 50 years could teach Meghan. I think tongue firmly in cheek.

Scobie makes it clear what MM wanted: the person who should have been helping Meghan and who cruelly failed to help, was Catherine.

Yes, they also donated to Invictus, as I understand.

Uricon2 · 01/04/2025 13:42

Where is Meredith Maines new head of comms in this shitshow? I can only think she is either out of the loop or being ignored (or some combo of the two)

I'm pretty sure she can't think the current "strategy" is anything other than insane and I would not be surprised if she'll bail PDQ. Who would blame her?

William being called "disgusting" for this help. I imagine that he feels that he needs to do something to help keep the charity going - which was, after all, started in the name of his mother. I don't think he wants to see the people it helps let down, and his mother's legacy failing, due to the incompetence and arrogance of his brother.

TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack · 01/04/2025 13:46

Aren't we going to need another thread soon? Will someone please start one?

TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack · 01/04/2025 13:48

How can Meredith Maines NOT resign? It's career ending stuff, working for the Sussexes in PR or comms, surely?

Not2identifying · 01/04/2025 13:49

I don't understand why W & C would have donated to Harry's charities over the last couple of years. I know, originally, the Royal Foundation was W, C & H so maybe it's a legacy payment agreed when the Foundation was split but I had thought that they had fully transferred an appropriate share of the funds to H years ago and figured they were done at that point. I'm also surprised the press haven't publicised that and done some digging.

Re the predictions that the Sussex's are done. I'm not sure. There's been so many times that I thought they were done before. There are clues that things are likely to get worse for them anyway (the end of the NF deal, the American reports on bullying) but they have seem to be a bit Teflon-coated. I remember a PP saying once 'I wonder what Ellen makes of Meghan swanning ahead with a wide range of products after bullying allegations (given that she, Ellen, was cancelled for much the same thing)'. I think it's possible that we'll scrutinise the friend's statement more than the press will. But all of this stuff does keep chipping away at their credibility as 'global thought leaders' as they once aspired to be (or indeed, simply announced that they were).

In my view, SC's bravery will embolden others, not shut them down. As an example, ejecting Harry from Invictus to be rid of him and Meghan and establish the charity on a proper footing would result in a torrent of abuse in the media and on social media, but that might be a price worth paying.

Lunde · 01/04/2025 13:53

Vespanest · 01/04/2025 12:46

I am surprised that now is the time for a knee jerk reaction from Harry, I really doubt that the American press are not going to run with this and this is their market. The tropes of the black angry woman will be read by their biggest defenders. I was expecting some form of denial ready for what today brings

This is their biggest problem - their need to clapback back at every perceived slight or criticism to try and get the final word. Both of them seem to have arrested development around their early teens and neither can back off from a playground level squabble usually through "friends".

It's bad enough for 14 year olds but astonishing from a couple attempting to brand themselves as media moguls, lifestyle gurus and (smother laugh) mental health experts. Unfortunately they seem to be toxic for each other as 2 self-obsessed individuals - even in their speeches at charity events they always just talk and use anecdotes about themselves and not the charity (Harry-mummy and Meghan - her life, empowerment, elevating, dish soap etc).

In this way the RF have played this brilliantly by refusing to respond. There is nothing that H&M would like better than the RF to respond and have a clap back way of words splashed over the Daily Mail - it's what they do
