She is being undermined

You could well be right, @Thedom, but I'd still like to know where the truth lies

I'm also interested in where the confirmed $500k on "consultancy" was spent.
It's a hell of a lot of money for a relatively small charity to pay, but is yet another thing we'll probably learn more about in time

I agree it all sounds murky but I’m inclined to give her the benefit of doubt over Harry , mainly because she asked for an investigation into the charity from officials.
if she’s hiding something that seems foolish and mostly Because let’s be honest Harry has never been upfront and honest about finances, you could argue he learned this from his family if you wish!

Thedom · 29/03/2025 17:40

Anyway, whatever has gone on, it's clear the Sussex PR machine are out to destroy her.

@Puzzledandpissedoff

More on the consultancy firm below from The Guardian article of two days ago. The intimate dinner to the Mimi Ritz Carlton must have cost a bob or two.
*
Chandauka “wanted to do it differently”, said a source. It is understood that a decision was made to hire the “women-led strategy firm” Lebec at a significant cost. This led to a shift of the charity’s leadership away from London to southern Africa. Fundraising efforts would also now be focused more on the west coast of the US than the shires, according to one source.
Last April, Lebec “convened a reception, panel discussion and intimate dinner to highlight Sentebale’s impactful work” at the Zaytinya restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton on Miami’s South Beach.
There was then a visit by Harry to Lesotho and Johannesburg with executives from potential donors, including Google

I doubt it @MayaKovskaya, unless something truly heinous comes out. She looks like a tough cookie to me.

If SC asked for and received unauthorised payment as a trustee she may regret arousing the interest of the Charity Commission.

I don't imagine it went anything like that. SC's been a trustee since 2008/09. She knows the rules; and she's clearly committed to the charity and her region.

I do think someone thought they could outmaneuver her and 'show her up' so to speak, by introducing talk of money. And who, in this story, do we know really does care about money, and pettily accuses others of denying it to them??

TenInchNails · 29/03/2025 17:47

I always thought the value of the charity wasn't just the actual work carried out, but the publicity and raising of the country's profile through Harry's involvement, hopefully improving tourist revenue (although it was a bit painful reading locales described as "Lesothans" in the UK press).

I further hope it's the case now that there's no such thing as bad publicity - ironically, Trump's recent statement seemed to generate quite a lot of interest.

Unfortunately, when dr Chandauka said they used the press to punish, she wasn’t wrong, we have seen this happen before but then the person being smeared didnt have the benefit of the doubt and a lot of people believed Meghan and Harry !
I don’t know much about prince Seeiso but I did read him and his other relative thought of Harry as family, I’m going to give him the benefit of doubt that as he hasn’t actually been around Harry that much he has no idea about Harry’s real personality and about turn since marriage to Meghan.

I believe the saying is you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time

Quite right! And very apt in this case!

It always goes quieter on mumsnet when the fires need to be put out on social media for Harry and Meghan. Right now on the claims of Sussex brand being toxic the fans are basically "hold my beer you haven't seen toxic yet", of course it's Williams fault, closely followed by the British racist media and finally Sophie who is being called a race traitor or similar.

No they won't. Truth, justice and fairness will prevail in the case.

Makes it difficult to extend any benefit of doubts to people who condone , consort and reward this kind of behaviour!

@JADS

He is such a petty, dangerous dick who gives zero shits about mental health.

people who wang on about mental health are always either mentally unstable; bad for other peoples' mental health or both.

Chuchoter · 29/03/2025 18:17

Markle was pushing for donations made to Sentebale to go through their Archewell foundation so that the pair of them could rake in $500,000 as an appearance fee and then donate the rest to Sentebale. Once Markle got her claws involved it was always going to be about money laundering.

I really hope you’re right. The CC is generally predisposed in favour of charity trustees but they’re not fools, if there’s been financial mismanagement they will start turning over stones. And as someone pointed out on the previous thread, the trustees are all jointly and severally responsible, including SC.

They did! They said they made things up because it was fictional, but Mishal Hussain said that she believed she was conducting a proper interview!
They have such a strange relationship with the truth.

H&M certainly have an odd relationship with the truth. The engagement interview was scripted. The wedding in Windsor wasn't their real wedding because that had already happened in their 'back yard'. It's so hard to keep up. Both of these events are conventions of Royal life and have been for decades yet suddenly, they become something else.

So not only do we have to take with a pinch+ of salt anything they say, we also now have to question whether things are actually what they seem to be. Archetypes? You thought it was a podcast. Nope. It's a re-imagined, dried flower-free Garden of Eden, Eve and her friends before the encroachment of Adam, foretelling the assault on female power structures over decades of phallocentric patriarchy seen through a post-lapsarian lense. You thought Meghan's ShopMy venture's intention was to Make Money for Meghan (MMM)? Wrong again. It's a cover for intelligence-gathering through consumer trend analysis and a harbinger of Meghan's push for the presidency in 2032, filtered through a data-rich, flower-sprinkled, tiara-adorned lens.

Misan Harrison. My daughters namesake

Misan Harriman. An incredibly privileged, born extremely rich heir, with an allegedly sketchy past (ask Boris Becker), who has reinvented himself as a photographer, despite having few years of experience in the field - he must have lots of connections to have risen to the top so quickly; and as a complainer about all things white and British. He was complaining once again in an interview with Channel 4 news the other day, and of course, defending MM.

The rationale for moving the leadership to southern Africa is clear. But why fundraising focused on the west coast of America? Was it just because that's where Harry is and they thought he could do the fundraising among his wealthy west coast pals? (having ditched all his wealthy pals in the shires.)

Also, while like a PP, I do side-eye someone who receives an honorary degree and adopted the title “Dr”, it is highly unlikely she managed Legal and Compliance Operations for a US/London bank and wasn’t acutely aware of the importance of proper corporate governance, formal approvals in accordance with policy and declaring conflicts of interest. It’s pretty much fundamental to that role.

He's a nasty piece of work.
He does the Sussexes photos - all altered of course. He took that famous pregnancy picture and added a tree.
Funny how it's ok for him to do that 🙄

From FT

Chandauka added that during her time as chair she experienced “disrespect, bullying and intimidation” and “misogyny and misogynoir (misogyny directed at Black women)”, allegations that have been vehemently denied. There is no suggestion that Princes Harry or Seeiso were alleged to have behaved in this way.

Maybe that is the FT covering itself actually, but still

@Thedom

That wording is to protect the FT from a lawsuit from Prince Harry!

Telegraph:

The Telegraph understands this devastating breakdown in trust was fuelled by an awkward moment captured on camera last April, during an annual Sentebale charity polo match in Miami, when the Duke captained the winning team.
As the players and their partners gathered on the podium for a post-match photograph, Meghan appeared to instruct Ms Chandauka to move away from Harry as he celebrated his win.
The Duchess was filmed asking the Zimbabwe-born lawyer, who stood on Harry’s right, to move to her left side away from her husband, as he kept his arm tightly around the Duchess, forcing her to duck under the trophy to switch position.

The awkward moment on the polo podium was captured on video
The brief encounter generated huge publicity and behind the scenes, the Sussexes were said to be furious.
One well-placed source said this moment was the catalyst for the falling-out with Ms Chandauka.
“Ultimately, it comes down to that polo match and the awkward moment with Megan moving her out the way,” the source said.
“Harry then demanded that she make a statement to the press, basically saying ‘Megan wasn’t mean to me’, and she refused to do that.”
The source alleged that the Duke “behaved inappropriately in asking her to talk to the press” and later joined with the trustees in seeking to remove her.

“Ever since that point, they’ve tried their best to move her out, using the trustees in order to undermine her, demean her and try and force her hand,” the source said.

This is so damning! It sounds like he decided to be awkward and difficult, because Meg didn’t get positive press.

Harry is a lost cause.

Well he has certainly learned plenty from the mistress of mean! Hideous behaviour!! Meghan should have been apologising to Sophie!!
