Actually, I think he played a blinder going to the Ukraine - he's trumped (sorry) all the newspapers who pulled him up on not attending some society wedding or other.

But they pulled him up in that because it was in the UK, 😂where he says he isn’t safe, but now he’s gone to an actual war zone 🙄

Yes, you're right - apologies, just woken up with woolly head!

It seems at times as though he’s courting dangerous situations and scenarios so if something happens he can be seen to be the wronged party. ‘Look what happened because Pa wouldn’t protect me’. That’s how he sees it. It’s almost as though he wants to end up in a tragic situation like Diana so history will repeat itself. I wonder if there is a deep anger that Charles didn’t protect Diana as he sees it, so he is compulsively trying to replay the past and this time make his father see the error of his ways. Of course Diana’s death was no way related to Charles. She chose to get into a dodgy relationship, she turned down official protection. She didn’t wear a seatbelt . Harry is so blinkered and obsessed he can’t see the wood for the trees.

This is an interesting take. His mental processes seem so irrational and immature that you can imagine him thinking this is a reasonable decision. Don't poke the sleeping tiger Harry, it might wake up and bite you.

Where he will get maximum protection from the Ukrainian army and visiting disabled war heroes. Doesn't stop the haters at the Telegraph - some comments under the article.

He’s served on active duty and clearly feels a special bond with those who’ve been injured in service. You’d think the media—particularly the Daily Mail, owned (lest we forget) by the tax-dodging Lord Rothermere, who resides in Monaco and whom Harry has had the temerity to challenge in open court—would let him have this one without the usual snark and carping. But no

the bond isn't special enough for him to pay for hmiself to go visit. is it?
One would almost think it's just for positive publicity

Can you explain why it's not hypocritical of him to claim he is unsafe in the UK but he goes to Ukraine and other countries with security issues?

To my mind the 64k question with Harry, Invictus and press coverage these days is who really benefits from the column inches and who covers the sometimes substantial costs of staging the showcase event.

Because this will have been carried out with the full cooperation and coordination of the Ukrainian Army—likely with the involvement of the President's office as well—along with our Ministry of Defence and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office all facilitated through our Embassy in Kyiv. Also, it’s worth noting that Mumsnet's longstanding Ukraine threads beleive it to be a strong source of support and solidarity. He probably couldn't be safer

you know when the royals go visit some tragedy; I've always thought I would be so pissed off with them turning up for a bit of publicity genrating grief tourism

You haven't talked about how the UK is so much more dangerous ?

Prince Harry's visit to Ukraine is hardly hypocritical. Ukraine, while experiencing a brutal conflict, has an environment that allows for structured, controlled visits with high security measures, including military support and coordination with international entities. The risks involved in Ukraine are known, managed, and mitigated by extensive security protocols. In contrast, the issue Harry raised about the UK's security isn't about high-risk zones or a war zone—it’s about a lack of protection in a peaceful environment where his family is being targeted by the media. The two situations are fundamentally different: one involves active, organized support in a war zone, and the other concerns the safety of a private individual and his family from intrusive and potentially dangerous media attention in a country with a peacekeeping responsibility.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 11/04/2025 12:08

where his family is being targeted by the media

This would be the same media that he and Markle use for relentless self-promotion?

I think most people in the UK have a fairly tenuous appreciation for the monarchy - we tolerate it whilst we feel it is promoting the UK and fulfilling a diplomatic and ceremonial function. We also like the link it gives to history. However, should some tragedy befall the Wales’ then I think we would become a republic before Harry ascended to the throne.

jeffgoldblum · 11/04/2025 13:43

So some people think it’s a good thing that Harry who represents no one or no country visits a war torn country for self grandiosity!
are you forgetting that the military of that country are currently fighting a war where hundreds have lost their lives?
do you think they can spare the troops from protecting their own citizens to shield Harry?
do you think they can afford the money this costs to massage his ego?
this was a badly done pr exercise!
no thought of the stress put upon a country to keep him safe at a time when resources are low , because no country wants the optics of Harry being killed on their turf.
disgusting!

Ah ok it is the media which is dangerous in the UK. 🙄

That's their call, not ours to make - it's not easy to get there either you have to fly to Poland and take a special train. If they didn't want him visiting they would have definately have said so and besides he is representing Invictus.

In the context of family intrusion. The Wales are apparently considering sueing Paris Match for the papped pictures on yet another holiday.

No excuse!!
and it doesn’t appear that anyone has the stamina to say no to Harry !
particularly a war torn country who wouldn’t want to risk offending their allies when they need them most!
