Markle's logo is similar to the logo on the back of the crew jackets for Madonna's Blond Ambition tour.

Is there anything original about this woman?

@TofuFightersthe place to ask that question is ON THAT thread. Why are you jumping on here to make that point?

Presumably to try to keep that thread positive rather than feed the negativity and because someone on here pointed out that others were complaining. I’ve just read the thread and posted on it and some posters are being negative which I’m not surprised about, but it’ll be nice to keep it positive. 🤞

glitterturd · 21/03/2025 19:39

It doesn't make sense to ask a question about a post on another thread on a different thread.

Its nice to keep it factual and important to correct untruths by pointing to the evidence as required.

I think readers click back and forth between a handful of threads because the As Ever threads are the most active at the moment. (Nobody has mentioned Pizza express in yonks.) I am also on this thread because I’m out of my depth on the positive one. I only wanted to put the happy marquee up for the posters who want to chat about nice WLM things… I don’t want to be the hostess!

MonteShitshow · 21/03/2025 20:05

i also would like to add: thank you to the posters in here who also posted on the positive thread!

It doesn't make sense to ask a question about a post on another thread on a different thread.

As I see it, someone posted on this thread to say that the people who like Meghan are complaning over on the positive thread. Then another poster pointed out that someone who didn’t like Meghan had already joined the positive thread to call her a bully. I think it was fair that the second person posted to point that out on this thread, when the first poster had already done so. 😅

My head is full of ringing bells and deja vue.

Do you have a point to make because I'm lost with all of this. Do educate me

glitterturd · 22/03/2025 00:11

@Extiainoiapeial I'm not in the business of educating people for free.

Onlyonekenobe · 22/03/2025 06:48

I think that note was equivalent to Melania Trump’s “I don’t care, do you” coat during her husband’s first term. It’s MM’s way of saying she’s not bovvered by the negative coverage she’s received for WLM. And, as ever, she’s using another young woman in the process (let me guess: empowering another woman, helping her build her brands? Just like she uses school girls and victims of a mass shooting etc to get her point across - sorry, empower them and show empathy?).

There has been nothing “fun” about the universal panning of her show, the publicity around the amateurish launch of her brand or the lack of products for sale. To send a message saying “let’s enjoy it” to a complete stranger (with whom you have never done anything together before and therefore have no clue whether you’d ever enjoy anything together in the future - there is no “us”) is so transparent. This was a risible use of a young woman to get a point or two into the MSM (the second point being the coronet over her initial; I must go back to check on my thread asking for thoughts on whether MM is generally considered to be royal by the public (we know that in her mind she’s no less royal than the King, the future Kings and HMTLQ before them!)).

Can I suggest then that you don't quote me so that I get a notification and come here to read a post that is specifically from you to me, and then when I ask what you mean you choose not to tell me!
It's a pathetic thing to do.😂

myrtleWilson · 22/03/2025 07:49

You can’t tell people how to use the quote function - people use it as a general point of reference. Maybe change your settings - do people have it set to auto notification?

That’s really insightful. I think there was a poll a few months ago about whether the public regarded H and M as royalty and only a minority did but I can’t recall the figures.

Alabamasunset · 22/03/2025 08:56

MonteShitshow · 21/03/2025 17:53

agree!! I like instagram because I like looking at photos of nice things and cats, but I believe it’s considered a bit older person’s SM. Tiktok would be the way to catch a bigger crowd of younger fans who aspire to be like MM / MS. I’m too old to want to dress like her (I already have my clothes and accessories taste firmly established) and I would be using the cooking ideas to modify my own recipes (rather than buy the kits), so I wouldn’t be the follower who brings in the most revenue for her business.

But hang on, Meghan is in her 40s. She's not young, and she is not going to get a younger following on TikTok. Young TikTokers in their 20s would have zero interest in Meghan. She needs to reach a middle aged following, so I think she has picked the right SM platform for her age bracket.

Hitherzither · 22/03/2025 09:03

@JSMill. I don’t usually read the Royalty threads but I caught sight of this thread on trending. I was really surprised to see that Meghan has adopted and used around in her monogrammed notes. I thought she disliked connections with the royal family?
I asked the question deep within this thread, if she has ambitions to become American Royalty. I must admit I assumed her followers were anti royalists republicans who were pleased she had turned her back on her royal role.
On here there seem to be a lot of posters who support her presenting herself as royalty. She will never have a role in UK royal family again. I think she sees herself as the new American royal family, for example insisting her children are called Princess and Princess. One of Trumps ideas seems to be suggesting his family members inherit the position of Head of State of America ( which is a form of royal family ). I wondered if Meghan’s followers see her as part of this American Royalty.
it has crossed my mind that if Trump succeeded in annexing Canada, might he try and appease Canadians by putting Meghan and Harry as puppet Head of State there to replace King Charles.
It would never happen of course. Most Canadians are fond of Charles and they are determined to stay Canadians.
I just don’t understand why Meghan is so determined to push her royal status in America, traditionally the land of the free ( from monarchy).
This has probably been debated on this topic many times before so apologies. I am probably missing many of the nuances of this story. I just had not realised how many of her supporters see her as carving a new royal role in America.

“I just don’t understand why Meghan is so determined to push her royal status in America, traditionally the land of the free ( from monarchy).”

Because without the Royal association and - most importantly- the title , Meghan would still be a jobbing actress with absolutely no chance of a mansion in Montecito, a TV series etc .

PoppysAunt · 22/03/2025 09:20

@Hitherzither no, she doesn't dislike connections to the royal family. She loves it. What she didn't like was being part of the institution with it's strictures.
She and Harry are proper royalists, through and through, down to the crown on the monogrammed notepaper and envelopes.

Yes, there's probably a 45 plus audience for this, I would think the trad wife thing wouldn't be popular with younger women.

And who knows where else?
I remember reading a Jilly Cooper anecdote about the daughter of a dedicated social climber getting engaged to a man with a title.
Sadly, the engagement was broken off but the mother still managed to make boastful capital of it by telling everyone: "It's such a bore having to unpick the coronets from the towels..."

I know, probably apocryphal, but it made me smile.

I think the jobbing actress career was long over for her once the Suits role ended.

The boss of Netflix recently said Meghan Markle is an influencer, which Meghan had already railed against in a People interview, so that must cut for her, however that is where she has landed and how she is perceived. Unfortunately she has began her influencing career on the cusp of the anti-influencer trend, which is getting more traction,

That's brilliant 😂 😂! I noticed on the Sussex Royal website that Meghan has a Coat of Arms with a Crown! It's just so funny.

Hitherzither · 22/03/2025 10:07

I can see being royal is very important to Meghan. She professes to be a feminist and a democrat but uses the royal name Sussex and has little crowns on her stationery.
What I don't get is her followers intentions. I do see that people who stand up for her because they think she is bullied have a case. Some posters on here are probably anti monarchy but support her because they don't like her being mocked etc. I understand that.
What I don't understand is the huge number of her supporters ( some posters on here as well ) who seem to support her Royal aspirations.
That is what I am curious about. Do they want to see her as a new form of American Royalty? i think that is what Meghan would like. But Americans traditionally are anti monarchy. I am surprised that they are not irritated by crowns and royal type logos splashed over her products.
I really do get the support from people who feel sorry in some way for her. I just don't get why her American followers seem to accept the quasi monarchy stuff. Would they like her to be the Princess of California? is that her desired role?

Edited

There really is no need to get personal. Someone quoted me so I thought they were 'speaking' to me. I replied to them and quoting the post I was replying to is really normal. If posters didn't do that threads wouldn't make any sense! They didn't want to expand on what they meant.
Fine, up to them!

No need for you to jump in insinuating I'm unable to function in real life as that's rude.

Hope you have a good Saturday, sun is shining here, hope it is for you too, enjoy!

That's me. I said on this thread yesterday or day before, I think putting a coronet above her name on that notelet was ridiculous and she should drop it. Ditto royal type logos, I don't think it does them any favours, people don't need reminding who they are, with the massive amount of clickbait on them, everyone knows! As for the name 'Sussex' it's theirs and why should they drop their name...

As far as American royalty, ugh no, I don't like any royalty!

PoppysAunt · 22/03/2025 10:16

Sussex is part of a title. She's very Royal and clearly loves it.
Neither she nor Harry have ever been anti Monarchy, they were just unhappy in their roles.
Both of them are 100% royal and monarchists.
I always thought maybe that their supporters were the kind of hard line royalists because of this, really.
