Prue Leith on Meghan Marble

I just saw this article about Prue Leith's pronouncement on Markle's new programme, which she says she would never watch. She says that she isn't a Markle fan because of all the "touchy feeliness" and talk about what creams you put on your hands. She says life is too short to think about what people think of you. Prue Leith is around 80 years old (?) is alway impeccably and colourfully dressed, her hair just so, her skin is lovely, she is always talking about food that is or isn't "worth the calories" - all of which which suggests that she very much cares what people think of her and that she takes a lot of time with her own appearance even though she is much older than Meghan who I would argue - as I would for all young women - that they should enjoy and relish their youth and beauty and make the most of it while it lasts.

My question however is about why Leith found it so easy to make this comment in public. I can't imagine her judging another celebrity so publicly and forcefully. So what makes Meghan different to the others? What makes Leith so incensed that she had to be so negative about her in a TV interview? I am sure that Meghan is not the only touchy feely, hand moisturising celebrity on the planet.

Aside from your feelings about her estrangement from the royal family which has been discussed ad nauseam what legitimate reason is there for treating her like that?

I have a real soft spot for Prue Leith since I heard that when she was a young cook and used to go to people’s houses to cook dinner parties the hostess pretended she had made herself, before she left she used to go into the cloakroom and put her business card in everyone’s coat pockets. I also think she’s very sound on assisted dying.

Incidentally, pretending you have never heard of a very Weill known public figure does not make you look as clever and cool as you think it does….

She said she wouldn't watch it as it's not the kind of thing she would like based on Meghan's public persona. Many many people have said that here on MN .

I can offer another potential reason as to why Prue felt so free to be scathing!

It’s pretty obvious, allegedly, to anyone who Googles “Camilla and Prue Leith”.

Just another "celebrity" jumping on the "lets be negative about Meghan because it will get me headlines" bandwagon! But karma is coming!

Prue may be forced to eat a green waffle?

Meghan Markle is a very polarizing person and this has nothing to do with Harry or finding freedom or Montecito Sussex. She’s polarizing because she seems fake pretentious opportunistic and a recurrent failure to deliver to those who dislike her. Not sure what her believers see in her because they seem to mostly defend her.
Prue has a lot of red lipstick on her teeth in the op post picture.

@glitterturdI was excited for a moment, thinking you meant the other Brian Cox, the science one. Who famously didn’t hold back on Old Twitter, using the word “Nobber” very freely!

Who is karma coming for?

Prue Leith? The 85 year old who has had an amazing career?

Or for Meghan? Who was called a grifter and rides on the coattails that her marriage to Harry has given her? Meghan is a trier though so I’ll give her that.

I haven’t watched the show, because I am not into lifestyle type programmes , but obviously someone is watching
Here’s betting it is most of the anti Meghan posters who love frothing at the mouth whilst sipping their bitter lemon tea.
All those who continue to discredit her are so consumed by an irrational hate, they fail to comprehend that their hate is paying for her mansion in LA because they ensure that she remains relevant by constantly talking about her.

I’m not consumed by hate. Certainly not for Meghan. I don’t know her for one.

For the record I’ve always preferred mary berry to prue leith 😜 in bake off.

I dislike Harry more than Meghan if I had to choose. It was his family not hers. You can dislike actions rather than hating the actual person. I dislike when my dog poops inside doesn’t make me hate her.

I don’t watch lifestyle programmes either, not my thing unless it’s someone like delia or nigella as I their recipes, they are both easy to follow.

I don’t want to “impress my friends”. I do want to give them nice food and make them feel welcome and comfortable though. And I don’t understand the “real friends will be happy with a takeaway pizza.” Of course they will be and there’s a time and a place for that. But why not cook them something nice sometimes?

Oh, I should have worked that out. That makes sense.

I wonder how she copes with all the hate. I find it hard to deal with the hate you sometimes get if you post on MN, so I would have got depressed and be dead by now if I had to deal with all that.

As for them being grifters...it's disingenuous to call them that when most celebs are hustlers when you think about it. Look at some of the crap on Netflix and on TV, films etc. Serious actors will use their considerable skills to produce rubbish in order to pay bills and put bread on the table.

I haven’t called them grifters. I repeated what someone else said. I’d actually say the pair are opportunists which can be said for some of the royals- looking at Sarah and Andrew for a start!

The problem is that most celebs don’t issue grandiose statements saying they will collaborate with The Monarch , service is universal etc etc then tell a pack of lies and end up flogging pancake mix !

As I’m sure you are probably well aware of.

Prices mum and the blokes wife were best friends and told Prue the lady was going through a very hard time because she suspected her husband was having an affair. I can’t recall though if Prue told her mother there and then she was the affair partner or if she saved it for a later date.

I couldn’t care less if Prue Leith and the Queen are friends.

If they are she’s only doing what any good friend would do by speaking out when her friend can’t.

And I think the bottom line is that Meghan’s friends didn’t hesitate to dish out put downs any chance they got and perhaps they needed to be reminded of do as you would be done by.
