As ever season two: fluffy eggs (with sparkling water) on faces!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!

Despite the ‘almighty’ British media, the rightwing US media and the internet brigade attempting to outdo each other with their crushing, supposedly annihilating reviews of Meghan’s As ever show, not only has it spent the past days in Netflix’s top 10 in more than 40 countries (including being Nr 5 in the Meg-lovin’ UK), Netflix have renewed the show for a 2nd season!

And of course, Netflix are also actively supporting the launch and commercialisation of Meghan’s As ever product range.

So, some folks have plenty of (hopefully fluffy - add sparkling water!) egg on their faces right now, and none of them are Meghan. She’s delivered the perfect put-down to her detractors with her “Lettuce romaine calm” pun, playfully announcing her Season 2 on her Instagram…. and adding a bum wiggle which to me said “we’ve obviously known for months that there’ll be a season 2, but y’all didn’t, so we’ve let you play with your silly headlines and review-bombing about this being ‘the end of the road’ and we ‘should kiss goodbye to Netflix’ BS, before making you all look like the obsessive fools you are by announcing season 2. Back-off and just chill, folks!”

Too funny! So far in this little PR war, it’s Meghan 2, detractors 0. Basically, the general public don’t GAF about the screeching online: if the show’s a good watch they’ll watch it, and they evidently are… kinda like… a certain biography, that other Sussex review-bombed ‘abject failure’ that still went on to become a Nr1 bestseller in the UK and US…

So, where did the gormless twopenny British journalists and their equally misguided US counterparts go wrong (again)? They were so eager to wield the knife into Meghan (a soooo much easier and risk-free target than Elon Musk, Donald Trump or even Andrew Tate, whom they’re evidently too chicken sh*t to go after with a tenth of the vitriol they enjoy hurling at Meghan), that they forgot to read the not so small print.

That small print includes the words “Netflix” and “Sony Pictures Television”, producers of As ever.

Now, who wields more power and influence over US viewers and consumers, Marina Hyde and her fellow sour-grapes, or Netflix and Sony Pictures combined (not to mention People magazine, Drew Barrymore, etc)?

Hmm… tough one.

So next time spineless journos want to pile-in on a mixed heritage woman for the heinous crime of launching a feel-good lifestyle business, maybe they could read the small print about who’s backing her and turn their Trump and Musk a*s-licking tongues in their mouths a few times before spouting off, lest they end up being the ones looking utterly ridiculous?

If you feel the British and right wing media have been spineless in their continued attacks on Meghan Sussex, discuss!

Meanwhile I need to find me one of ‘em ‘Lettuce romaine calm” baseball caps. Etsy sellers, get to work!

Surely, different strokes for different folks—surely that’s okay? Not everything is for everyone, and that’s kind of the beauty of it all.

As for the one-pot recipe, we all know (well, I do anyway) it’s an old method, so there’s no real originator here. But if we’re now expecting every public cook to footnote their sources, I look forward to seeing that standard applied across the board. Because let’s be honest—there are quite a few TV cooks whose recipes are far from original, and I don’t recall them citing their sources either.

Pamela’s show isn’t available in the UK yet, so I haven’t watched it (though I did catch a YouTube short of her making sweet potato fries—so yum!). I love that it’s getting appreciation. Highlighting vegan cooking is so important, and I’m all for it! I once made a 'blue cheese' from cashews (apologies to my tasters—it was not my finest work), so seeing that she’s done an 'ice cream' from cashews is so exciting for people like me who need to be dairy-free! Definitely checking out her show when it hits UK Prime.

Oh, and no need to add truffle salt to my Christmas list—already got it. 😉

Oh absolutely. Everyone is free to like or dislike whatever they want. But some decisions have consequences beyond our own wants. We have to make so many decisions every day about what we do and the impact we have on the environment. I take a utilitarian approach to these decisions. Some things, for me, are just easy to eliminate, because they have little to no use beyond superficial prettiness, pleasure and ostentatious show. Like balloons, fireworks and the like.

Yes, I have a gazillion cook books and watch a lot of cooking shows. The cooks invariably give credit if they are using someone else's recipe.

My mother was a largely vegan Hindu (I say largely, she'd occasionally add dairy to a meal). Vegan food is just food to me, it's what I was brought up on. I am not too excited about all the UPF many modern vegans consume. PA's shows are a journey, from remodeling her grandma's house with her sons, to curating her garden to learning to cook from experts. I am really happy for her, I've always had a soft spot for her, even though she ought to have raised my feminist hackles. She has an openness and vulnerability and is a real survivor. She connects with the audience. And yes, super gorgeous, even without the make-up. I'm looking forward to seeing The Last Showgirl, the trailers look terrific.

I guess if folks chose to stop obsessively clicking on everything Meghan-related, and turned their attention to some of the more consequential issues our world is facing, then the cycle would be broken.

Yet here you are starting a thread about her.

… the operative word being “a” (thread).

When I add “PART 7” next to the thread title (sound familiar?) then you’ll have an argument.

and @skullbabe it is absolutely demonstrable on any social media how much Meghan boosts views compared to any other story - you can go now look at any news post on X, Instagram, Tik Tok to see just how much she drives engagement.

Still, the cynicism of it all is pretty shocking, given that this is about a real human being, a mother with children being used as a cash-cow by all and sundry. I guess if folks chose to stop obsessively clicking on everything Meghan-related, and turned their attention to some of the more consequential issues our world is facing, then the cycle would be broken.

I’m not holding my breath.

There isn’t much sensible folks agree with misogynists like Andrew Tate about, but what they assert that women are dumb, and you see how easily we are letting ourselves be manipulated into trying to make the life of another woman utter hell, you can’t help but wonder…

It's ok for some dishes I guess, but you do lose a bit of control - not great if your sauce is still watery and the pasta is ready. Judgy I know but I do kind of think of it as cooking for people who don't really care that much what the end result is like

The pasta water actually becomes creamy, but yes, it does take a bit of trial and error to judge the right amount of water or stock—too much and you get soup, too little and it’s glue. That being said, it’s not meant to be gourmet; it’s a quick, efficient meal, and those are great to have in your repertoire. Honestly, lighten up—it’s pasta. Like I said before - have a go with crab - its really yummy. You can try something similar with orzo too.

I have done it before but don't really get what the advantage is - I'd rather just add pasta water to the sauce as necessary to add a bit of flavour and get the right consistency. I can't see where the great hack / lifesaver thing comes in, it just risks a watery mess for no real gain 🤷‍♀️

I'm not sure Meghan would be too happy about the resulting failure of her business model. She is after all choosing to become a television presenter, and is busy promoting the merchandising of her family and lifestyle on social media. It's not like she's trying to hide herself away or anything.

@TallerSally At this point, it’s undeniable that Meghan drives traffic and clicks, and that’s the real engine behind the endless articles dissecting her every move. The sheer volume of coverage—whether positive or negative—isn’t about her actual influence, but about the business of outrage and engagement. It’s less about critique now and more about a self-sustaining media industry built on clickbait and outrage farming.

And the negativity? Well, that’s been brilliantly weaponised by Netflix (hat tip to another poster on another thread). Whether people are watching out of genuine interest, curiosity, or pure hate watching, it all counts the same in Netflix’s data. Her critics might think they’re taking her down, but in reality, they’re part of the PR machine—boosting traffic, generating headlines, and ultimately ensuring Netflix (and Meghan) cash in when that $100 million contract ends.

👍👍👍

I hadn't forgotten.

He/she is one of the few who didn't change their names after disgracing themselves in the 'Where's Kate' days. It's all there, in black and white.

Not that a name change would do much good with such a bizarre posting style.

How can you "just know" unless you work for MM/Netflix?

I'm still baffled by the products not being on sale yet. Makes absolutely no sense not to have the shop ready at the time the show launched.

The number of other threads started by other people is conveniently missing the point .
You have created a thread to discuss Meghan, then you post on your own thread how you think there are too many threads discussing Meghan. If you feel strongly about the number of threads on here why start yet another one? 😂 Bizarre

Well what is it then? What on earth are you being so coy about? You said what you said, nobody else. Why say it? You are obviously proud about being in the know and want everyone to know about your superior insight. If you just made a lucky guess, just say so. Considering it came as a complete surprise to media and industry insiders alike(which is what this thread is crowing about) then that rather leads to the conclusion that you are an insider. What are the options? Lucky guesser? Clairvoyant? Indiscreet employee? Paid SS? If you post something intimating you are in the know but don't clarify how/why, we'll just have to make our own conclusions.

Off topic but did you see how stunning Pamela Anderson was at the SAG awards? Gorgeous!

Pam did look absolutely beautiful.

I’m unlikely to watch her cooking show anyway, but I loved the documentary about her, made by her sons no less.
