As ever season two: fluffy eggs (with sparkling water) on faces!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!

Despite the ‘almighty’ British media, the rightwing US media and the internet brigade attempting to outdo each other with their crushing, supposedly annihilating reviews of Meghan’s As ever show, not only has it spent the past days in Netflix’s top 10 in more than 40 countries (including being Nr 5 in the Meg-lovin’ UK), Netflix have renewed the show for a 2nd season!

And of course, Netflix are also actively supporting the launch and commercialisation of Meghan’s As ever product range.

So, some folks have plenty of (hopefully fluffy - add sparkling water!) egg on their faces right now, and none of them are Meghan. She’s delivered the perfect put-down to her detractors with her “Lettuce romaine calm” pun, playfully announcing her Season 2 on her Instagram…. and adding a bum wiggle which to me said “we’ve obviously known for months that there’ll be a season 2, but y’all didn’t, so we’ve let you play with your silly headlines and review-bombing about this being ‘the end of the road’ and we ‘should kiss goodbye to Netflix’ BS, before making you all look like the obsessive fools you are by announcing season 2. Back-off and just chill, folks!”

Too funny! So far in this little PR war, it’s Meghan 2, detractors 0. Basically, the general public don’t GAF about the screeching online: if the show’s a good watch they’ll watch it, and they evidently are… kinda like… a certain biography, that other Sussex review-bombed ‘abject failure’ that still went on to become a Nr1 bestseller in the UK and US…

So, where did the gormless twopenny British journalists and their equally misguided US counterparts go wrong (again)? They were so eager to wield the knife into Meghan (a soooo much easier and risk-free target than Elon Musk, Donald Trump or even Andrew Tate, whom they’re evidently too chicken sh*t to go after with a tenth of the vitriol they enjoy hurling at Meghan), that they forgot to read the not so small print.

That small print includes the words “Netflix” and “Sony Pictures Television”, producers of As ever.

Now, who wields more power and influence over US viewers and consumers, Marina Hyde and her fellow sour-grapes, or Netflix and Sony Pictures combined (not to mention People magazine, Drew Barrymore, etc)?

Hmm… tough one.

So next time spineless journos want to pile-in on a mixed heritage woman for the heinous crime of launching a feel-good lifestyle business, maybe they could read the small print about who’s backing her and turn their Trump and Musk a*s-licking tongues in their mouths a few times before spouting off, lest they end up being the ones looking utterly ridiculous?

If you feel the British and right wing media have been spineless in their continued attacks on Meghan Sussex, discuss!

Meanwhile I need to find me one of ‘em ‘Lettuce romaine calm” baseball caps. Etsy sellers, get to work!

I know, Romina. It's one of the easiest things you can cook. I don't buy dupes of food I can cook very easily from store-cupboard staples. Others may need more assistance, though, because they are not confident cooks. And for some people, it's a one off treat for which they don't want to buy and store ingredients. MM is aiming at the latter markets, because she's not actually teaching them to become authentically good at cooking themselves. Just selling them an imitation of her life in a packet that will end up in landfill. I hope they have the imagination to transport themselves to a McMansion in Montecito, when sampling the UPF laden results from wherever their kitchen is.

Oh my god, I hadn't realised that, but you are so right! I couldn't for the life of me think why a mature woman, and mother of young children, wouldn't want to make things fresh and not use all those packets.
You've actually clarified that!

@TallerSally At this point, it’s undeniable that Meghan drives traffic and clicks, and that’s the real engine behind the endless articles dissecting her every move. The sheer volume of coverage—whether positive or negative—isn’t about her actual influence, but about the business of outrage and engagement. It’s less about critique now and more about a self-sustaining media industry built on clickbait and outrage farming.

And the negativity? Well, that’s been brilliantly weaponised by Netflix (hat tip to another poster on another thread). Whether people are watching out of genuine interest, curiosity, or pure hate watching, it all counts the same in Netflix’s data. Her critics might think they’re taking her down, but in reality, they’re part of the PR machine—boosting traffic, generating headlines, and ultimately ensuring Netflix (and Meghan) cash in when that $100 million contract ends.

Thanks @skullbabe - I fully agree.

Clickbait revenue has got to be the main justification for even the likes of The Economist joining the Meg-bashing slugfest. It’s just that it’s so… facile, lazy and feckless?

One wonders whether an article calling out Elon Musk’s actions in the florid language used to describe Meghan’s wouldn’t attract clicks too… the issue for the journalist being those clicks would include those of Musk’s lawyers and Trump’s Dictator executive order pen banning their news outlet and getting the journo fired?

The other interesting aspect to this, which I believe the journos are discovering, to their chagrin, is that when your clickbait-driven revenue model consists of undermining the revenue model of large corporations such as Netflix and Sony Pictures, then they will trip you up. Which is what they’ve just done, and will continue doing.

I can imagine Netflix getting more than a little irritated with inconsequential but incredibly presumptuous journalists attempting to dictate to them what contracts they should cancel or not… and deciding to teach the journos a little lesson… 😂

@skullbabe you are writing as if the cure for cancer has been discovered 🤷‍♀️

"I pressure-can and make my own preserves, so I think my base knowledge for cooking is solid—I make a variety of her one-pot pasta with crab, and it’s absolutely delicious. It's been so much fun to see people online trying the one pot dish because, from experience, it's an absolute game changer if you want a quick meal. "

One pot isn't new😂

I’m writing this because I’m seeing so many people in my algorithms now making the one pot meal, and I love it - it’s something I learned to do when my little ones were really little, and it’s such a lifesaver. Not sure why you thought I thought it was new, but oh well—to each their own! 😂

Honestly, I love seeing a great hack like this reach more people. It’s such a simple, practical trick, and it’s funny how some folks can’t just appreciate that without making it a thing.

RominaDina · 08/03/2025 18:57

I'm amazed that you two don't think Elon Musk and Donald Trump don't get the clicks, @skullbabe and @TallerSally . Of course they do! Meghan isn't the most put upon person in the world, I know the Sussexes cultivate that myth.
Believe me, there is far more negativity about those two above. They had millions more clicks and plenty more interest than Meghan ever will! 😂

RominaDina · 08/03/2025 18:57

(actually I bet they're upset about Musk and Trump getting the clicks! 😂)

I disagree, and the reason is one of proportionality.

Of course Trump and Musk get clicks, that isn’t the issue. The issue is that whilst they are unquestionably having a devastating impact on our societies and economies, even raising the prospect of WW3, Meghan in comparison is having next to none, yet you wouldn’t think so given the pages and pages and endless airtime devoted entirely to her.

I disagree. There was very little about Meghan last week.
It was all Zekensky, Musk and Trump.

RominaDina · 08/03/2025 19:10

Oh, and the Pope.

I disagree @TallerSally - I think Netflix and Sony must be quietly enjoying the spectacle watching the manufactured outrage, and thinking, ‘Ah yes, do keep fueling the algorithm for us.’ 😂.

As for your other point it is really ironic in how people have projected this Machiavellian, power hungry, world manipulating character onto Meghan, when really Elmo Rust is the one who actually fits that mould and it’s genuinely frightening. He certainly does drive clicks but it is absolutely demonstrable on any social media how much Meghan boosts views compared to any other story - you can go now look at any news post on X, Instagram, Tik Tok to see just how much she drives engagement. I think many people think we're saying she's more newsworthy - of course she isn't. She however does drive views and clicks and this is observable and this drive buisness decisions to use her.

Not entirely sure what you’re getting at - so if it’s positive, yay, much appreciated! And if it’s not - well par for the course on these boards. Regardless good vibes your way.

NormaMajors1992coat · 08/03/2025 19:35

it’s something I learned to do when my little ones were really little, and it’s such a lifesaver

Is it really such a great hack, "a lifesaver" to put pasta in the pan with the sauce instead of in another pan? It's ok for some dishes I guess, but you do lose a bit of control - not great if your sauce is still watery and the pasta is ready. Judgy I know but I do kind of think of it as cooking for people who don't really care that much what the end result is like Blush
Meghan's was a case in point, it did not look nice Confused

Bontonbonbon · 08/03/2025 19:56

I do wonder if some user on this site are those poor teenagers used and dropped to be used again by Meghan. The term is ‘grooming’ when an adult coaxes and child to to their bidding with love bombing and false promises. Very sinister.

Bontonbonbon · 08/03/2025 19:57

@JaneJeffer I don’t think it is 7am where they are. The really hyper Sussex posters seem to work on West coast US time.

The pasta water actually becomes creamy, but yes, it does take a bit of trial and error to judge the right amount of water or stock—too much and you get soup, too little and it’s glue. That being said, it’s not meant to be gourmet; it’s a quick, efficient meal, and those are great to have in your repertoire. Honestly, lighten up—it’s pasta. Like I said before - have a go with crab - its really yummy. You can try something similar with orzo too.

True for views of the show, but what about the actual As ever products when they are launched? The guaranteed negative press could put people off and actually suppress sales…

It’s going to be fascinating to watch how Netflix play the media when the products are launched, and the usual suspects come for them with their knee-jerk “it’s all sh*te” reaction…

Why haven’t the products been launched to coincide with the show? Don’t you think momentum will have been lost? And initial sales. Seems like a crap way to do
business to me 🤷‍♀️

FarmerDramaLlama · 08/03/2025 20:28

I think viewing figures for ‘season 2’ will be poor. A lot of people have watched 1 or 2 episodes to see what the fuss was and haven’t gotten much further.
Most people won’t feel the need to sit through it again.

TallerSally · 08/03/2025 20:35

Still, the cynicism of it all is pretty shocking, given that this is about a real human being, a mother with children being used as a cash-cow by all and sundry. I guess if folks chose to stop obsessively clicking on everything Meghan-related, and turned their attention to some of the more consequential issues our world is facing, then the cycle would be broken.

I’m not holding my breath.

There isn’t much sensible folks agree with misogynists like Andrew Tate about, but what they assert that women are dumb, and you see how easily we are letting ourselves be manipulated into trying to make the life of another woman utter hell, you can’t help but wonder…

It does seem a very odd way to do run a business. She has launched with absolutely nothing to sell. People are very quick to move on these days and they certainly aren't going to sit tight for what, at then end of the day, are basic items that will probably be marketed at over inflated prices. She has missed her mark, 3/6 months time is too late.

I’m actually doubtful there will be further products come the fall.

Soonenough · 08/03/2025 20:40
