Just as a brief digression, some lovely pics of Catherine at that event. Pleased to see her looking so happy, given where we were this time last year.

Bright colours - red, yellow, turquoise - and simple styles suit Meghan best. A lot of what she wears is too fussy. One I like is a long red evening dress she wore to an event shortly before they left the UK. Not the Carolina Herrera affair!

Le Creuset has been enjoying a bit of a revival for a while. I remember listening to a discussion on the radio about how millennials had rediscovered the brand.

exactly Meghan was late to the party, it became a TIK Tok sensation in late 2023, with influencers all showing off their Le Cresuet. They have modernised their colours and styles and it has really paid off for them as a brand.

Is that why? I was in the Le Creuset outlet shop in Bicester and was surprised how many young people were in it. I wouldn’t pay even outlet prices. I will inherit a set one day.

They do make a cracking bit of cookware!

@JSMill, yes,

here is an article from 2023 about Zillenials love for Le Creuset, Meghan hopped on the bandwagon..

Ohpleeeease · 18/03/2025 17:37

Le Creuset look beautiful when they’re new (which is how you see them when used by tv chefs) but they do stain after a while. I’m very attached to mine but I also have a couple of dupes that perform just as well and I’m a lot less precious with them.

It’s interesting to see what’s in vogue with rising generations. We craved anything Alessi especially the bird whistle kettle, and of course everyone had the obligatory Dualit toaster.

I absolutely love my Le Creuset. I have been gifted them over the years. I have 5 all different shapes and sizes and my DCs call them the comfort meal dishes!

oh Dear ...

Where was the waffle video published? It's not on her Insta. Meghan’s video looks a bit like a mini horror movie, especially dark in juxtaposition with Princess of Wales' St Patrick’s Day outing.

The waffle video is a perfect example of "dark subversion", taking something harmless and twisting it into something creepy. The dough is green and revolting, the end result is messy, with a weird smiley face made of fruit and cream, and it looks completely unappetising. At first, it seems innocent, but there’s something unsettling about it! The whole thing feels like in a psychological thriller, and the anger oozing from that Duchess just adds to the tension. Definitely gave me the chills!

It’s the sort of thing that most kids would find funny though.

Americans go overboard for St Patrick’s day - or St Patty’s as some call it!

When DD was at elementary school they’d do silly things like putting green food dye in the toilets to pretend the leprechauns did it! And hiding plastic green shiny coins for the kids to find. We accumulated so much tat I’m glad she’s a teen now and we don’t have to bother with any of that.

I know they are great quality and last forever but I just can’t fork out that much in one go. I know it’s a false economy. I got a copycat casserole from Sainsburys that lasted five years while my parents’ set of pots and pans is still going strong from the 1980s!

I have a blue lidded shallow casserole and a cast iron bottomed red top tagine both from my mum , I had no idea the prices , till I was harmlessly browsing for another tagine and then I saw it was worth hundreds of pounds!!!
I don’t remember being particularly grateful or impressed at the time of being given these things!!! 😱

I have lots from that era, wedding presents and still going strong! Cooking in a buffet pan tonight yum!

I must embarrassingly add to this !
I was browsing for a new tagine because….. I had a new hob installed and it didn’t like my cookware!
I had put the ( rather large ) tagine in the garden as an ornament for many years because of storage, I went and got it and the cast iron bottom had rust on it ( no surprise really!) , when I saw the prices , it became a group effort to clean it up ! My dh , my mil and me frantically scrubbing with everything we had! 🤣
amazingly it came up like new and I’ve used it ever since!

This is exactly what I thought! She exudes bad energy whilst pretending to be all sweetness and light. It’s quite unsettling.

Look at us with our Le Creuset! Aren’t we just the bees knees!😂

My first couple were bought in the 90’s. They really have stood the test of time. Big family and I ask for a new one every few years.

jeffgoldblum · 18/03/2025 18:06

Mind you ! , I used to shop at the Swindon retail outlet many moons ago and they always had bargains on cookware! , I bought a tefal Jamie Oliver pressure cooker ( standard hob style!) 14ish years ago , do you know the price of it now??? 189.00 pounds!!!! Was shocked!

MaturingCheeseball · 18/03/2025 18:46

I’ll stick with Home Bargains: I have the full Hairy Bikers’ range [preen]

For a pressure cooker that goes on the hob?? My instant pot electric pressure cooker was £59.99. It’s fabulous.

JADS · 18/03/2025 18:53

I bought my Le Creuset casserole dishes nearly 20 years ago. I love how solid they are. One of mine is really stained but it doesn't stop me loving it. I'm super elevated me.

Meghan's pancakes are just really unappetising looking. I understand not wanting things perfect, but food needs to look edible. Also matcha is a tread that needs to die.

I know @JSMill!
I mean yes it’s got a fancy self locking lid and has special vitmix features but it’s just a bloody glorified pan!!
I put it in the loft and got a new fancy electric one for 50 odd quid!

ThePoshUns · 18/03/2025 19:10

The green waffles and green milk look anemic and so unappealing.

Minor derail - do we think Harry said he’d taken drugs on his visa application? Secure in the knowledge he wouldn’t be barred from entry?

or did he hastily tick the No box, and move on..

edit to spell derail correctly!

No, nobody knows. That's the whole point of the FOI application by the Heritage Foundation. They want to know if he declared the drug use. And if he did, why did the Department For Homeland Security let him have a visa, when drug taking would usually bar the granting of a visa? And if he didn't declare the drug use, why has he not had his visa revoked for lying.
