Agree @Fillybuster that a $25 pancake mix isn’t a sustainable business but a limited edition item that they can offload.

Again, perfect for tele shopping

Episode 7, dumpling making. Random observations. Can friend Vicky's skincare brand really be called Todger or are my ears deceiving me? I'm having difficulty distinguishing these identikit women from one another and they all look the same indeterminate age. They all have flat, Botox-smoothed faces, centre parts (we are in the USA, so I'm leaving out the ing), and long, loose ringlets framing their faces.

You’re picking up the right vibes!

‘Min said: “It feels like it was filmed in a mental institution for wealthy women. It kind of had that lobotomized vibe.”’

Brown was in conversation with Hollywood gossip queen Janice Min, who said Markle’s show had a “lobotomized vibe.”

Also her hairline is receding in that series. She’s coming close to frontal baldness.

Fillybuster · 07/03/2025 22:48

Thanks for that @AtIusvue Although Archie as the fresh prince of Montecito? <shudders>

elprup · 07/03/2025 23:03

This has probably been said already… but there’s a second series incoming.

NCMJ · 07/03/2025 23:55

Episode 2. Did she actually just comment on how you can buy pumps to inflate balloons instead of using air from your mouth. And it's a top tip because otherwise your jaw can get achy.
And to have a balloon arch at a kid's party is just doing that something extra special... And she acts like these aren't really ordinary everyday type things...

Prior to watching this, I was really quite indifferent to Meghan Markle. But curiosity got the better of me after seeing so many parodies of her show on social media and these threads and I did wonder if people were just exaggerating. But nope, I can't believe this got airtime. There's genuinely creative people out there trying to get their shows on Netflix and yet, here we have a show where someone "teaches" you to make peanut butter jam sandwiches for a kid's birthday party. Ugh.

SanctusInDistress · 08/03/2025 00:03

The thing that’s irritating me a lot is the pristine white and cream clothing and the flowing long loose hair. If she tied her hair back and wore jeans and a sweater it would immediately look more authentic.

So much negative energy here, everyone seems to be keyboard warriors!
Woman needs to support each woman. I will never understand why same women have black heart, We all need to spread positive energy the world will be better safe place to all of us.

CaravaggiosCat · 08/03/2025 01:19

Wow the fresh prince of Montecito?.....Interesting...why would he be described as that?

NotOnThe · 08/03/2025 05:37

For those of us who refuse to watch it can we thumbs down on Netflix and give them the feedback they deserve?

Brightredtulips · 08/03/2025 06:37

I feel like I'm watching Amanda and her Senous range

Thedom · 08/03/2025 07:02

Interesting they didn't do a full release at one time, there will probably be a lot less interest in part 2. I wonder if the next bunch of episodes will include their fire disaster tour.

It’s Meghan you should be saying this to. And Harry.

They are the King and Queen of black hearts and negativity.

I'm on a Motherland fan group on Facebook and apparently it all kicked off last night because someone dared to compare M and Amanda. It disintegrated into a bun fight with people being accused of being racist. I can't find the original post. I think someone had too much cava!

I wouldn’t even bother doing that. No amount of tv shows and packets of cake mix will ever change who and what they are.

Serenster · 08/03/2025 09:04

Something I very rarely say - this has been a great PR strategy by Meghan and her team. 😀

They would have anticipated the negative reviews, so they kicked off with some handpicked favourable puff pieces from publications like Town and Country and Forbes, while seemingly not giving anyone else advance review copies. And having shot 8 hours or so of content last year, they have packaged it up into two drops (like they did with their “Meghan and Harry” documentary too). But crucially they only announced the first drop in January - the second wasn’t mentioned.

Then, about a week later, they announce the drop of the second part, giving Meghan the chance to present it as the “show being renewed”. Which is not correct - Part 2 is already in the can, and Netflix is committing no further funding to it other than some promotion, which Meghan is presumably funding anyway out of her development contract. But people just read the headline and think that it must have done well despite the negative reviews, well done Meghan! Even if that bears no relationship to the truth.

I even like the cheesey “Lettuce Romaine calm” hat. 🤣. Well played, Meghan’s team.

Baital · 08/03/2025 09:13

Very true!

But spin only takes you so far...

Serenster · 08/03/2025 09:20

Well, quite. The show and products will rise or fall on their own merits. But I think they’ve done the best they possibly could to present this.

MayaKovskaya · 08/03/2025 09:21

FarmerDramaLlama · 07/03/2025 13:54

Back to the recipes. I wouldn’t have expected her to develop new dishes, she’s clearly not much of a cook, but there should have been one there. Developing stuff and making sure things came out looking good (cooked) I thought they were standard for cookery programmes.

That's what Stanley Tucci says. He also says - credit your source!

So, if you're not Meghan's biggest fan, you're a racist? Blimey, the BNP and the EDL should clean up at the next election, then.

Edited

They've made quite the career out of it.

JSMill · 08/03/2025 09:40

@MayaKovskaya and the irony that when you say how similar M is to a blonde, posh white woman (Amanda), you are being racist!
