“I think as the kids get older, they’re so excited about, ‘Oh my gosh, Mama and Papa, how did you meet?’ I think that will come with time as they get older, but for right now a huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex."

The kids will cringe.

MaggieMistletoe · 05/03/2025 18:19

Her kitchen skills were so terrible that it has me wondering if that is some kind of attempt at a 'flex' on her part? Usually people who have grown up in privileged circles feel defensive of not being able to cook, it's something they would seek to gloss over or remedy - especially a woman, but even a aristo man these days I don't think would feel hugely proud to say they can't boil an egg or slice cucumber. But for someone like Meghan who, like the rest of us, has spent decades having to cook for herself.. I am watching the clips and getting this feeling of perhaps her seeing it as a flex that she looks inept in the kitchen? Like she wants to make it obvious that she barely spends any time in the kitchen, doesn't have a clue about children, because she has staff for all that. I may be wrong but it feels to me like she was going out of her way to seem unskilled. She must have had to make thousands of meals for herself up until 6 years or so ago, why is she appearing useless with the most basic of things?

She's really pushing the 'Sussex' thing isn't she?

I guess she needs to keep repeating it because everyone needs a bit of time to adapt to the novel concept of a family having the same surname.

Desperately embarrassing. Its as if she's on QVC, clutching her pot of jam. How is Harry standing this. All his old set must be howling.

There’s no way she would have done this a couple of years ago. She thought she was above it all and had moved on from this.

Selling her branded goods on American network television. Jam jar in shot. All that time working as a suitcase girl has paid off. Netflix are working her hard. She must be dying inside. Harry definitely is.

NotaRealHousewife · 05/03/2025 18:22

Is there a market in the States for this type of thing?

Very poor knife skills. She waves it about (point in the air) when she’s not using it, doesn’t know how to chop efficiently.

This was all basic stuff we were taught in home economics

I agree. Maybe I'm overanalysing, but she looks really uncomfortable.

I do give her credit for getting out there and promoting this though. Harry was nowhere to be seen for either 'Polo' or his Invictus documentary. Like I said above, I really do think he believes that his sort of people shouldn't have to work for a living. Meghan also seemed to think that being a Duchess meant she wouldn't have to hustle anymore, but maybe reality is starting to dawn in Montecito.

Poor Meghan.

I wonder if she gave her in-laws as much thought as you’re giving her when she savaged them with blatant lies. Then there are those she bullied and chased out of the workplace. And that’s just for starters.

She’s despicable. Harry is despicable. They deserve all they get.

That’s why I don’t think these threads are being cruel. They have both set themselves up for a massive fall. They are egocentric , selfish, vapid and greedy.

Meghan Sussex Confused

How many rebrands can one person go through in 9 years???

MargaretThursday · 05/03/2025 18:26

I don't think I've ever asked my parents how they met. I know it was at work, but beyond that, don't really know. Nor do I think it was particularly exciting.

My dc have never asked me and dh how we met either.

My dc (and actually one of my dc's friends-if ever I gave them a lift they'd jump into the car calling out "tell me about when you were little") used to love stories of things I did when little and stories about my relations (especially my youngest uncle who did several things that went into family legends).
The most boring stories about going down to the sea and we lost my t-shirt or the time when my uncle gave us a lift and we found 10p down the back of the seat and he bought us an ice cream, or when the fire alarm went off at school and they couldn't turn it off so we played outside all morning, were treated with breathless wonder.

It’s as close as she can get to hawking her title without getting into trouble.

She thinks she’s being smart.

This annoys me probably more than it should ! There are millions of families who share the same name , there are also millions who don't. Is she saying that they are more in love because they have the same name?
Its just another knobhead , meaningless piece of drivel.

RecollectionsMayRealiseMyJamIsNotActuallyJam · 05/03/2025 18:29

I thought Harry slid into her DMs. So hardly romantic.

How could I have been so stupid.

Just saw it suggested elsewhere that "Meghan Sussex" is to ward off any attempt to remove her title!

Even though I know what that phrase means, it always conjures up the image of Harry putting on a pair of Doc Martens 😂

I can’t get over the historical letters and documents they’ve walked away from. I could quite easily put up with the so called downside of being a royal wife if I could have spent hours every week in the royal archives.

Absolutely this. I think the best comment I've ever read on the royal threads. Imagine the bliss of being let loose in the Windsor archives!

Didn't Sophie and the Queen supposedly bond over their shared love of history, military history in particular?

I can’t say I envy Harry this week. And I think on balance I dislike him more. Disloyal, whining git. But I feel a glimmer of sympathy. She’s going to be hopping mad with those reviews.

Their poor innocent new PR chief having to filter through the reviews and produce a summary for perusal. Is it below the royals to have to google search their own reviews? I think it could be.

Does anyone remember the poster who took real umbrage with the word "Sussex" as being smutty and unseemly. She was hilarious. I wish she'd come back (if you are reading, please do).

Loverofoldfilms · 05/03/2025 18:54

But everyone is watching it, no? So, it's a success on that basis alone. People love to hate the Duchess of S. 😉

SpreadingJammyTodgerLove · 05/03/2025 18:57

Hardly anyone is watching it. We are watching other people watch it. Which is a lot more fun.

Uricon2 · 05/03/2025 19:01

What I've found really interesting is this. People on here have been saying they couldn't see how the show would succeed and why, what is the business plan, where are the products, &c, &c for literally months. Now the Press of the Western world is saying exactly the same things, pretty much unanimously, in far, far harsher terms.

Perhaps the mean harpy witches were right all along.

Let's see. He saw her in some sort of dog disguise on instagram and thought, what a hot babe. Their mutual friend set them up, but nobody is allowed to know who that is. On the day of their first date, he went sailing, and was too wound up to be able to pee, so ended up wetting himself. Then he was late to meet MM, who was not dressed in what she would later sew into her wedding dress and claim was her first date outfit. One for the kiddies to listen to in wonderment over hot chocolate at bedtime - not.

I have a feeling that the history of the family she married into was completely lost on her .
I would give large amounts of money to spend time going through their archives.

No. And that's the problem with everything H&M.

I'm 'watching' via MN and news reports. I'm not actually watching the show. Keeps being the case, they make money for other people.
