I've just watched the one with the chef with a Mexican restaurant helping her make food for the girls' games night. He clearly did not get the "praise Meghan's fabulosity up to the hilt" memo and just showed her how to make things and gave her jobs to do. It was all the better for it.

Edited for typos

I understand it needs to feel inspirational but what modern mum of two has time to prepare so much for a guest?

It does seem very out of touch. Who the hell is going to MAKE bath salts FGS? And what kind of guest would want them to? I know I wouldn't. I'd be far too worried about getting a yeast infection to use them 😂

And the way she mixed loads of oil and salts up in a bowl and ended up just pouring in a load more into the jar on top of the mixture. Why mix it carefully if you're not going to measure so to fill the jar end up adding a load of unmixed ingredients on top?!

jeffgoldblum · 04/03/2025 15:44

I don't disagree @IcedPurple but normally the time difference works against us here! , I can remember staying up to watch the new game of thrones because it was released prime time for America,
Just seems odd in this circumstance that they didn't follow the usual way they drop things?

According to their website, dropping shows at midnight Pacific Time is the usual practice for NF.

"Netflix original TV shows and movies are typically released globally at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time. We'll also share launch times in the Coming Soon section or on the details page of a TV show or movie if the title is launching at a specific time."

friendlycat · 04/03/2025 15:48

The problem with these types of shows is that you actually have to have some form of gravitas to actually pull it off and some content that is interesting.

Just jumbling together a load of supposedly innovative hacks that are old hat and so out of date / or so bloody obvious doesn't really cut it.

Or you do a real through the looking glass series based on your actual life and your actual home - none of the fakery.

jeffgoldblum · 04/03/2025 15:48

I imagine @StaySpicy because her ideas and intentions are at war with her abilities and impatience.

Stickystickysticky · 04/03/2025 15:48

The products are back up again but it says that you have to subscribe to see details, I (foolishly) subscribed a few weeks ago but it won't let me see the products. What the hell is going on.

Well she put it all and herself out there.
She appears to be thick skinned enough to keep brushing off criticism and ploughing straight on

She cleverly went to some carefully selected publications (Town and Country, Forbes etc) only with advance reviews from hand-picked writers so she had some positive reviews out yesterday. And I’m quite sure she and her fans will have already written off the entire British media as out to tear her down* . So I think they’ll be focussing on the positive advance reviews in the US market.

*(it’s a reasonable question - would she ever get assessed simply on her own merits on something like this? It’s difficult to know because objectively her solo projects - The Bench, Archetypes, With Love, Meghan - were never likely to be critically acclaimed)

How bizarre. That's at least 3 changes since this morning!

Surely if you're selling something you want to maximise potential customers, and making you subscribe before seeing details is the opposite of that. My guess is that the products are nowhere near ready for sale.

jeffgoldblum · 04/03/2025 15:51

Interesting @IcedPurple ! What time is that here? Do you know?

Obviously Netflix is different from Amazon prime then!
Must admit I don't watch Netflix, I keep it for my kids !

User14March · 04/03/2025 15:52

Not liking MSG is racist?

People are having ‘As Ever’ tattoos? Let’s hope she doesn’t rebrand!

Vespanest · 04/03/2025 15:52

I've watched a few clips, I have no idea why she didn't hire a chef to teach her basic cooking skills. I hate to do this but when using a knife fingers in and knuckles out in the shape of a claw. It's an accident waiting to happen

Pacific time is GMT - 8 I think.

@BasiliskStare thanks for the new thread. I’ve been a bit slow on MN over the last few days so lurking a day or two behind, but these threads have been a source of deep joy when a whole load of other stuff has been quite crap.

@AtIusvue loving the précis / commentary. Exemplary service to MNkind. Have a ⭐️ and keep up the good work.

@GiveMeSpanakopita more of PR analysis please!

Sorry, can’t remember which genius PP did that lovely bit of creative writing with the sausage, but I fink I luffs you. Had me properly sniggering. More more more!

Quick question to the folks coming on to grumble about this thread:
Why? I mean, seriously, why come on specifically to upbraid other people for talking about something public in a public forum? It’s not like we’re talking about state secrets, or medical records, or, I don’t know, something important. What bothers you so much? This is Mumsnet, the original nest of vipers, don’tcha know?

Finally, dammitall, I actually came on to talked about cutted up pear but am clearly waaaaay too late. Does go to show that MN sets the agenda: this nest of vipers is clearly way ahead of the curve.

Garlicgarlicgarlic · 04/03/2025 15:57

The article is behind a paywall

jeffgoldblum · 04/03/2025 15:57

Oh cheers @IcedPurple !
I'm not good with the time differences , and I should be as my dh used to work all over the world!!
But only in America once or twice for a very short time!! ( used to phone me )
And am I right in thinking that there is a time difference in parts of America too?

IdaGlossop · 04/03/2025 15:58

Satirical versions of Meghan's Pippa Tips-type tips would make a good column for Viz (which still exists, I discover). My favourite tip was something like 'Convince your neighbours you have a fantastic sex life by jumping up and down on your sofa and screaming all afternoon'. 'Make your ice-cubes pretty by putting flower petals in them before you freeze them', 'Welcome your guests to their room by tipping pretzels out of their branded bag and putting them in a plain cellophane bag tied with a raffia ribbon' and 'Arrange colorful sliced fruit on an artisan wooden board and greet your children with a rainbow each morning' are really on the same level.

jeffgoldblum · 04/03/2025 15:58

Sorry probably should ask @BemusedAmerican that one! 🤣

Stickystickysticky · 04/03/2025 15:58

I wonder where the products are made ? Locally? By Meghan herself? Imported ?

The trouble is everything she does is just copying other people . She has no ideas of her own . She’s trying to copy Duchy Originals and Pippa as well as Gwynneth Paltrow and just not pulling any of it off. Why doesn’t she do something she is genuinely passionate about for a change? She’s obviously given up on her feminist/having a voice / I’m so empowered schtick. She’s play acting all the time at everything. At least Harry is genuinely passionate about Invictus. She only seems to be interested in money and being admired when she has nothing to offer.

jeffgoldblum · 04/03/2025 16:06

Don't forget copying Pamela!
Some of the visuals are frame from frame copies!

How could someone be that obvious? She is very into yoga, I don’t know why she doesn’t start teaching yoga online or something.

Penko25 · 04/03/2025 16:11

The reviews are brutal. Will be interesting to see what the American press make of it.

Uricon2 · 04/03/2025 16:14

Still catching up (and thanks all who are watching, especially @Atlusvue , to whom I send copious gin, garnished with edible flowers)

When there are several eviscerating reviews in the usually Meghan neutral Guardian, you know it isn't working out well.

Has anyone else got the Addison Ross UK tableware advert in this thread? I bet they're kicking themselves for going with 'enhance your tableware' rather than 'elevate'

Nope, just yoga and prebiotic.
