I thought her mother was an airline hostess? Or running a shop that went bankrupt. We’ve heard it all now.

I thought her mum was a social worker and yoga teacher.

American reviews starting!

IdaGlossop · 04/03/2025 15:17

StrawberryWasp · 04/03/2025 13:23

So there are actually products??!!!

We thought there wouldn't be.

The reviews are hilarious 😂

No products on the site now. Already sold out 😆

New Statesman is a British publication, isn't it?

There seems to be a common theme emerging, that the show is pretty pointless because Meghan has no relevant skills and her 'friendships' seem fake. The general impression is that it's just very boring, so not even 'so bad it's good' 'hate watch' material.

cheezncrackers · 04/03/2025 15:22

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 04/03/2025 15:05

It isn't top 10 on the Netflix chart, maybe tonight will pick the viewing figures up?

It only came out this morning, didn't it? It's currently only 11.20am on the US east coast and 8.20am on the west coast, so .... I guess we'll see tomorrow whether anyone sits down to watch it tonight!

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 04/03/2025 15:23

I saw a sad face made out of blueberries! not a rainbow...

wordler · 04/03/2025 15:24

Well, now I'm starting to feel sorry for her reading the reviews.

jeffgoldblum · 04/03/2025 15:27

Apologies @IcedPurple ! , you are quite correct! , it was forwarded from an American site to me ! And the name sounded American to me! 😳

User14March · 04/03/2025 15:27

Is this all just a vehicle to sell her products? You can see why she wanted to return to CA, the climate makes life easier & happier whoever you are.

Pretty much, although at $25 dollars for a box of pancake mix , I'm not sure how many she'll sell.

wordler · 04/03/2025 15:24

Well, now I'm starting to feel sorry for her reading the reviews.

Well she put it all and herself out there.
She appears to be thick skinned enough to keep brushing off criticism and ploughing straight on

jeffgoldblum · 04/03/2025 15:32

It seems rather a shame for Meghan that this was released when it was!
That is in the U.K. saw it first, obviously she intended for this to be more for American audiences than the U.K. !

And with the amount of scathing criticism, it's probably going to influence what people think when they view it!

Was this a mistake by Netflix? Or was it intentional? 🤔

Doria’s past will forever be shrouded in secrecy.

I would love for a small fraction of that self belief.

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 04/03/2025 15:35

I watched twenty minutes and gave up.
The background is lovely but hammering home ‘I don’t live here but will take this home with me’ just reminds you of the fakery.
Lemons always remind me of that film Jennifer Aniston was in where she wanted a lemon centrepiece on her dining table.
I enjoyed the Pamela Anderson show because I love Pamela. It’s that simple.
If David & Victoria did a lifestyle show I would be here for that.
It feels very, very forced. I understand it needs to feel inspirational but what modern mum of two has time to prepare so much for a guest?
It all reminded me of Chris Rock and his take on discrimination against those on lower incomes, who just don’t have seven dollars to buy a lemon at Whole Foods.
When you think back to the engagement interview where she wanted to go ‘boots on the ground’ to change the world with H, doing microwave popcorn doesn’t have the same societal appeal.
As for using ‘Sussex’ I suppose it’s fine, but it feels like keeping up with the Wales family.
Please stop mentioning Beyoncé it’s cringe.
I would love to know what the Canadian chef thinks.
I am sure it will find an audience and I am sure her fans will love it, and eat it up like teeny flowers.

I don't think NF can do much about time zones! And in any case, if people think it's a good show, surely they won't care what some hack in London said? For example, "Emily in Paris" gets sneered at by reviewers, but audiences love it and it keeps getting renewed.

Streaming TV is pretty 'basic' in that sense. If people like it, they will watch it. If they don't, they wont!

Weepixie · 04/03/2025 15:35

Edited

Yeah, I heard that there was some question over whether she'd been in prison! She basically disappeared from MM's life for several years, so I can understand why people might guess that.

Mightymoog · 04/03/2025 15:36

wordler · 04/03/2025 15:35

I know. It must be great.

wordler · 04/03/2025 15:35

I don't agree that she has great self belief. Quite the opposite. I think she is extremely thin skinned and has no core identity. She's 'ploughing on' because everything else she's done has failed and going back to her earlier influencer persona is her only option now. This was not the plan 5 years ago.

cheezncrackers · 04/03/2025 15:40

I understand it needs to feel inspirational but what modern mum of two has time to prepare so much for a guest?

It does seem very out of touch. Who the hell is going to MAKE bath salts FGS? And what kind of guest would want them to? I know I wouldn't. I'd be far too worried about getting a yeast infection to use them 😂

User14March · 04/03/2025 15:40

@wordler @Mightymoog I think her sense of real self confidence is fragile & she’s trying to counter criticism as she goes: ‘I’ll be honest, it’s not my home’. ‘Look, I am liked’. She has impressive, steely ambition.

Weepixie · 04/03/2025 15:41

Yeah, I heard that there was some question over whether she'd been in prison! She basically disappeared from MM's life for several years, so I can understand why people might guess that

I wouldn’t comment on that because it’s an awful thing to say if it’s not true but I do believe there is more to Doria than meets the eye.

jeffgoldblum · 04/03/2025 15:44

I don't disagree @IcedPurple but normally the time difference works against us here! , I can remember staying up to watch the new game of thrones because it was released prime time for America,
Just seems odd in this circumstance that they didn't follow the usual way they drop things?

BemusedAmerican · 04/03/2025 15:45

@AtIusvue Thanks so much for the commentary! I'm off today. Slept in and caught up on the thread over breakfast. Almost spit out my tea. I cancelled Netflix in 2024 so can't watch the show.

I really hope my tax dollars didn't have to pay for Meghan's security when she visited Sussex House on NYC last night. Those women looked suspiciously like mid-West transplants to me ... Way too heterogenous for the average New Yorker.

Anyway, I have lots of options for mixes. Even my bodega/fruit store carries the Bob's Red Mill mixes complete with gluten -free options. For mail order, I can go with King Arthur Baking, who also have great recipes, supplies, and videos:

If the As Ever stuff is coming from China, the prices may go up. Much of our fruit and vegetables come from Mexico and Canada, so those prices should rise, too

BTW, sun tea is an old-time way of making iced tea. I prefer mine hot so have never made it:
