This has triggered a nice memory for me, my grandmother (b 1895) used to put little dishes of sugar water out for tired bees. I'm inspired to start too, although they seem to love our hollyhocks!

I have a salvia hot lips which the bees seem to love, gutted I can't get out into the garden today as it's lovely but I'm having to lay flat indoors as I've put my back out 😩

Odd thing @MissFenellaPrism , the different colours grew at different rates!! ( assuming they graft it together!) , it was beautiful and great ( I like a large bush! 🤣) but went beyond that to tree size! , I tried and tried to restrain it but had to give up ! , I'm in Wiltshire and my garden seems to have its own climate!! It's literally hotter than the surrounding neighbourhood! 🤷‍♀️ , I won't derail further! But my troubles with a passion flower are biblical! 🤣

And he’s milking it for all the sympathy and excuses for his behaviour he can get, including flogging stories about his family to the highest bidder.
Utterly inexcusable and unforgivable behaviour.

How fascinating! It must be a hybrid. Where I live is very high up and gets cold winters, but our selection of flowers seems to be bee friendly 😊

I'm at the top of a hill too @MissFenellaPrism ! But am surrounded on all sides by huge trees and houses! , if anything it's too hot in my garden and I had to spend a fortune for shade to sit out!
Nightmare in winter! Dangerous to get down ! But godsend lately the whole town below flooded! We were ok 👍

My Goddaughter made and sold bee bombs for an Alzheimer’s charity. They were brilliant and now we have a lovely area of meadow flowers in the garden for the bees. 🐝

Oh thanks @BemusedAmerican 👍 , I'm embarrassed to say I've been put off now , Ive got into growing my own vegetables and chilli 🌶️ instead but with the kids don't have the time to really get in the gardening I used to!

Oh god @Zippedydodah ! , mine was like a triffid!! It just wouldn't die!
I cut it back, my husband ripped it out from the roots!!
Back it comes! Growing through stone , house bricks and concrete!! , it's the most invasive plant if ever had !!! Far worse than the decorative ivy I stupidly plant years back!

And the worst part? Because my garden is so hot!!!
Never flowers! Not one !!! I actually get fruit! , yes passion fruits!!!
Oh great you say? , oh no these aren't your edible ones they are orange! And go from unripe to rotten in a day! , the dogs got stomach issues! 🙄

We have annuals in our beds and milkweed. We get a leaf cutter bee that prefers the sunflower leaves. We grow zinnias, cosmos, scabiosa, marigolds, branching sunflowers since they have more blossoms. The butterflies love the zinnias.

Last year, my employers put in tree hydrangeas. They stayed in bloom for a long time and the butterflies really liked them.

We are trying to make the standing bird bath pollinator-friendly by putting in large rocks for them to perch on while they drink. We tried an earlier version last year that was popular with wasps.

Unfortunately yes, I've been given some industrial strength pain medication- oramorph which doesn't seem to agree with me. I can just about shuffle to the bathroom and back, I'm so fed up!
