@Spectre8 , I have cultivated a pollinator garden at my job for the past 8 years. We've had 9 different types of bees visiting daily in the last year. We are tracking with an app. This garden is in a very urban area. Many people only have pots on their fire escape.

You don't need a hive to provide food and shelter for a solitary bee.

I am Miss Gullible of Gullibleshire 🤣

Me too. I thought: they're going to be amazing together, how lovely.

I then cried through the wedding. All the music, joy, carriage rides and crowds.

And I'm the one now saying: maybe her cooking show will be good. 🤣

I'm Miss Optimisticfool from FoolTown.

Me too. I had a wedding party with my sis and girlfriend and we live on the other side of the world! Blush

Thays great. I never said you had to have a hive, I certainly don't but i do what I can. Which is what I was asking that poster what they were doing themselves? Very odd to be criticising someone for doing something to encourage bees which should ag the very least be accepted as a good thing that she is doing. Seems to be for some people too hard to acknowledge that she is doing something good and have to somehow still turn it into a negative/ dig.

...and you've proved my point. Why is it nigh on impossible for some posters to have a reasonable discussion/debate without snarky comments?

I'm convinced that Meghan wrote this speech for Harry!! 🤣

It's very noticeable (and has been since the Oprah interview) how much Harry has picked up Meghan's word salad tropes and tics, which, broadly, comprise the language of Progressive Identitarianism which enjoyed a brief moment of popularity in the Anglophone world from 2016 - 2022.

Words and phrases around equity, inequity, identity, oppression, marginalisation, colonialism, the urgent need to dismantle structures of patriarchal oppression (although adherents never go so far as to admit what they want to replace these structures WITH, which is alarming to say the least) etc etc. You all know the drill.

Unfortunately, like many people of mediocre intellect who enthusiastically adopted this language as a power play, Harry isn't intelligent enough to realise that at the core of this worldview is neomarxism or actual marxism (filtered through Foucault, Cixous and Butler), according to which Harry, and his unearned privilege, shouldn't actually exist.

If Harry understands what he's saying, then he's basically arguing himself and Meghan out of existence. Class consciousness and material dialectics dictate that a couple who are rich and famous for no other reason than the husband's accident of birth are, by virtue of their very existence, an act of class oppression which should be abolished/dismantled.

Alternatively if Harry doesn't understand what he's saying, then he's just parroting some hollow fine-sounding words to please his wife, and isn't actually interested in 'dismantling structures of oppression'.

So, as a couple, H&M are either hypocrites, or downright liars. Or possibly just really, really substandard in intellect. What a choice!

MissFenellaPrism · 01/03/2025 07:48

What a choice.
I'm going to say a mixture of all three.

JADS · 01/03/2025 08:27

That speech of Harry's is utterly meaningless clap back to the article in HR that said he was utterly useless and Meghan was doing all the hard work. I wonder if he's being paid for these speeches or if he is paying to attend.

The article about beekeeping is one of those weirdly positive articles that has an odd subtext that makes Meghan looking like Marie Antionette. For what it's worth, we are privileged enough to have wild flowers and a nice lavender bush in our garden which the bees love. I also buy honey from our local beekeeper society to help with allergies.

The clip with Roy Choi was better than expected and a bit more natural. He has his own NF show so he has a bit of experience in presenting so maybe that helped.

It seems I’m stuck with using this username till the next new thread so in the interest of openness I’m WeePixie.

My reply to you wasn’t snarky. You complained about the level of discussion on the thread and I replied - yet here you are in the midst of it.

Life really is too short to be hanging around somewhere you’re not happy, with people you more than likely wouldn’t want to mix with in real life. Why do it to yourself?

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 01/03/2025 08:43

This made me chuckle yesterday while driving, so much so that I went on my dash cam to find a photo to share with you lovely lot!

Well it seems he now speaks fluent word salad.

When he says "more recently with The Archewell Foundation, where we show up and do good for those who need it most, supporting social impact initiatives—including digital safety and education—all under the umbrella of protecting our collective mental health.”

I'd like to know exactly how much Archewell have "supported" social impact initiatives, in ££ or $$. It's easy to say "show up, do good" but what exactly has Archewell done?

And when he says "“I’ve spent the last five years — sometimes publicly but primarily quietly — investing in companies that align with my values and vision of a better tomorrow, companies that understand the power and significance of service,” he shared, noting a commitment to causes supporting “mental fitness to carbon sequestration, early education to veteran employment.”

Which companies? What or how much has he invested?

And also, massive eye roll at "as a dad" ffs

Also the virtue signalling. I expect most of us make private contributions to causes that we want to support. For those of us who aren’t millionaires our contribution may be small by comparison, but I’d be interested to see what he actually contributes in proportion to his significant wealth.

MissFenellaPrism · 01/03/2025 08:49

Does Harry have a thought about anyone else's mental health? Anyone he's trashed in his book or interviews? No, it's all about him.

MaturingCheeseball · 01/03/2025 08:57

Every time Harry opens his mouth he just looks more stupid and even more of a hypocrite. The blimmin’ cheek of the man. I would say Who does he think he is? But I know who he knows he is: Prince Harry, a very very important person.

I don’t think so. I think he’s still trapped at that 12 year old boy tbh. I feel for him to some extent but then can also see how he has hurt his family so have some sympathy but not a great deal.

elessar · 01/03/2025 09:00

That speech from Harry is awful, a load of nonsensical waffle, but the worse part is how much it's I,I, I - all about him and how wonderful he is.

Life of service? Putting others before himself? When has Harry EVER put others before himself? Every single thing he's done is considering himself before any other person, and often not considering them at all.

I wonder what the audience thought of the speech. If this was an audience of venture capitalists then they're smart, shrewd and prepared to be very ruthless in pursuit of wealth - hardly the types to buy into Harry's meaningless waffle about service and philanthropy.

Mylovelygreendress · 01/03/2025 09:02

I too would love to know what “ show up , do good “ means in reality . Do they actually get involved or just float around bestowing patronising smiles on people ?
Before anyone asks what I do , I volunteer in our local Foodbank which is hard work and can certainly be challenging ( yesterday was NOT a good day), I also do some fundraising for our local Maggie’s.
Oh and I have bee attracting plants !

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 01/03/2025 09:16

@HobnobbingAboutHobnobs what dash cam is that, it is much better than mine.

Enjoyed the poetry and the recipes immensely.

@VeryconfusedNana now you've chosen to out yourself you can report your own post and MN will change you back to Weepixie.

Like others it is the balance I enjoy on here, the vast majority have good and bad things to say which is how it should be.

I do agree about timings, for all they have done that is of thier making, there is a lot where fate has been at play.

Vespanest · 01/03/2025 09:21

show up and do good seems to involve taking large sums of money from private donors and then after paying for their staff and expenses they pass a small proportion onto to other charities with a condition of partnership to raise awareness of said charity or more like for their own publicity. Basically funnelling money.

You've withdrawn all your comments on this subject? I can't have explained myself very well initially as I actually meant that this thread has been a pleasure to follow because different viewpoints have been expressed respectfully (and I've altered my opinion on some areas because of them). I said it would be a shame if some posters (who had said they'd steer clear because they were more pro H&M than most and didn't want any grief) felt they couldn't contribute. If I'm expressing my point poorly then I hold my hands up. Let's move on.

I have a similar thought. Why do some posters repeatedly post about a woman they obviously don’t like/despise? If some people find Meghan so objectionable why do they spend so much time wanting to know everything they can about her? Why do it to themselves?

He's a very rich and privileged man. He's not a working class lad whose Mum was murdered, who had to cope alone, and now has to go out to work and linger on NHS waiting lists for help.
He has access to all kinds of support and therapy.
Honestly, I've met Holocaust survivors who are less bitter.

@Lifestooshort71 I asked for the comments to be removed as soon as I posted and noticed the wrong user name. It was the middle of the night in the UK but of course no one was at work then and it was hours later when they were removed.

Im happy to move on and I wish you a very nice day.

‘Why do it to themselves?’

I think the question is why do Harry and Meghan repeatedly show themselves in such bad light that all they do is constantly make it very clear just who they are?
