@FarmerDramaLlama My son's best friend is from the US and he said cake and biscuit mixes are much more popular in the US , more so than here he thinks and lots of people have them as a regular store cupboard thing. I think they are getting more popular here , but my impression is people are / have been a bit snootier about them here ( let me know anyone if I'm wrong anyone on both counts ) If the US is her target market ( which I am sure it is ) it does make sense.

So I can see this would fit in with Love Meghan if she is going to be showing biscuits and cakes ( more than just that pinnacle of glamour - A Victoria Sponge. ). If she is trying to reach a mass audience then I can see the thinking - also I assume they have a decent shelf life so packaging , distribution , time on shop shelf is longer so easier for a large scale operation. And they can be easily elevated .
Just my two pennyworth Farmer. Other opinions (as ever ) are available - I have no RL experience in selling food products for the avoidance of doubt.

😊🍪🍰

Edited to add - oops noticed you said pancakes not cake. My experience is pancakes are eaten more in the US - eg those thicker breakfast ones . In this house pancakes get made from scratch but only on Shrove Tuesday - if we remember. So thank you for reminding me - March 4th this year - coinciding with the NF release ! Brilliant marketing 😂

Edited

If that's true then what a shoddy and cheap thing to sell. I think people generally are moving away from cheap crap like that (if they've ever bought them in the first place, I certainly never have) and a lot more people are moving back towards cooking properly and making things from scratch. I'd have to be very desperate for cash before I lowered myself to flogging rubbish, unnecessary crap junk food like that.
If this is true then it marks a new low for them, lowly unethical scuffers, the pair of them. As if the Americans need more unhealthy food peddling to them, and I think we can safely say the gaunt, bony creature that is Meghan these days is not eating cake in any form - and certainly wouldn't dream of giving her children packet-mixture cake.

Oh no someone posts something and deletes it...hardly a big deal. Hardly a blooper. So bloody what. No she doesn't have to be perfect nor does her instagram it does have to be managed perfectly either. Nor is it something to criticise someone over either.

I agree @Spectre8 - lets focus on the real life stuff that destroys peoples lives - the consistent and persistent investigations of Meghan's bullying behaviour over many years on both sides of the pond.

Whats your personal opinion of the testimonies of dozens of victims and witnesses who have experienced and been impacted by her behaviour to the point that some have been hounded out of their jobs and ended up needing professional help to alleviate the mental distress she caused as investigated by numerous and separate respected publications?

We've always been very sniffy about cake mixes (and pancake and sauce mixes) and think you can't say 'I made a cake' if it involved one. However, I do follow some 'chef' on fb who made a trifley thing using a Betty Crocker cake mix! Perhaps I need to move with the times 😁

Totally agree.

Or it could be that she just wanted to get people talking.

I've noticed that Meghan has form for posting, leaking or announcing contents whenever the Waleses are doing something high profile and the visit to Wales, being their first joint appearance in a year, is definitely high profile.

Meghan seems to have it in for Kate. It's not uncommon for people with narcissistic traits to conceive a strange sort of negative fixation on someone in their circle who the narcissist fears is somehow detracting from or stealing from the narc the attention the narc feels they deserve. So the narc repeatedly tries to overshadow or undermine the person with whom they're obsessed. It's an odd dynamic for sure.

As a former Welsh Valleys dweller I was very pleased to see the Walses making Welsh cakes. Welsh cakes are truly awesome, the finest combination of buttery scone/shortbread/raisin pancake confectionary ever. I rarely see them now I'm in England, and when I do they never have quite the fluffy butteriness they need. I'm inspired to make my own this weekend!!

My stepmum is known for her Welsh cakes and is known in our part of the Valleys as Betty Welshcakes.

shockthemonkey · 27/02/2025 09:09

I love Welsh cakes! I’m staying with a welsh friend and she produced shop-bought ones and…. no.
They need to be freshly made from scratch!

Maybe if she had more contact with black culture she would understand that wondering about a child's potential skin colour is quite common. Similarly eye colour, hair colour

Surely it is in every family, regardless of whether they are mixed or not. I have 5 children and my two littlest were born only 16 months apart.. they look really similar except one has my husbands white but very olive skin with yellow undertones that tans within seconds of being in the sun, while the other has my very pale skin with pink undertones and that never ever tans. When they are in the bath together DH and I often marvel at their being such very different colours. We always speculated as to eye colour, hair type, height etc as even within a union of the same ethnicity, there is still so much variation that can happen. It's a universal thing to do, and a lovely thing that is full of excitement and anticipation of the new person.

MummyJ12 · 27/02/2025 09:11

Welsh cakes are heavenly!
@GiveMeSpanakopita I agree with you once again. As Jason Knauf typed on his now famous email. Meghan “always seems intent on always having someone in her sights”. Catherine is a constant target. It’s quite sinister.

But she hasn't posted has she, it's deleted. So what has she posted? So there is no gotcha moment

At least get your facts right, it was deleted and then reposted. It is currently on IG.

I think it’s really disturbed.

I cannot understand them, if you don't want to bake then just buy a cake? The only ones I've seen in the shops seem to be marketed at children with garish TV characters on them. And while I am not cruel enough to scorn the well-meaning parents that buy them as I'm sure they are trying their best, I do think its a great shame that they exist at all. It seems very sad to me that that would be a children's experience of home baking.

MaggieMistletoe · 27/02/2025 09:17

We are another household who love making welsh cakes! And even better, bara brith. Only last 5 seconds around here.

I must say I love the Knauf interview. I detect the hand of William at his bitchy, grudge-bearing best.

"Nice suppressed report filled with Meghan bullying allegations you've got there. Would be a shame if somebody....leaked it."

William is bitchy and grudge bearing? 🤣🤣🤣
I think we know who that descriptor applies to and it’s not him.

Yes - and this obsession with Kate goes back a very long way to pre-Harry days, when she had a lovely little dig about W and C's wedding. I think most of Meghan's unpleasant behavioiur can be ascribed to her bitter resentment and envy of Catherine - it's so transparent. And when Harry reported that notorious conversation (about what the baby would look like), which he later tried to say wasn't racist at all, he did a very stupid thing. He gave Meghan just the ammunition she was looking for to destroy Catherine's reputation worldwide - and the damage has been done, despite his back-tracking.

(To be clear: I loathe actual racism, but as many pps have said, including POC, this kind of speculation about a forthcoming birth is pretty universal and wouldn't stand up in court as evidence for racism.) And Harry's own speculation about his genes and Meghan's genes is a bit ironic in light of the stink they both created!

NormaMajors1992coat · 27/02/2025 09:27

Ooh yes that's a good one - performative niceness to underlings. So transparent. That can be a bonus one.

Feels like whenever I see anything about Meghan these days I'm immediately embarrassed for her, every time. She is this weird combo of being desperate for attention and approval but also completely unable to understand how her behaviour comes across.

CoffeeCantata · 27/02/2025 09:30

Ooh - sorry to lower the tone and mention that sewer-like site, Celebitchy, but they're all frothing (I mean, really frothing) about that Welsh visit. One of the things they are indignant about it that Catherine didn't tie her hair back. She should be guillotined, at least. Now, I actually agree that she should have done so, but it's hilarious in the light of Meghan's constant fiddling with her locks during her kitchen sessions!

One rule for St Meghan of Montecito (Hail She Who Can Do No Wrong) and another for 😁the evil Catherine!

Serenster · 27/02/2025 09:30

Packaged cake and biscuits (and pancakes) is a really big market in the US. It’s a bit of an oddity. They are not seen as down market either - premium brands like Williams Sonoma have their own line (and Chrissie Teigrn too). It’s not just Betty Crocker and other mass market brands.
