I noticed the old thread is almost full so thought we could start a new one to carry on the discussion about the rebrand and merching.

Are you an ‘As Ever’ or ‘Whatever’?

Oh no Sticky! Flowers

Love the idea of a watch along. Is there any way this could be arranged?

I'd like a watch along but I have no iPad 🎻( insert woe ,victim word salad here ) , I just use Big Puter from my desk and I can't see the TV from here without a very complex set up of mirrors. However I shall catch up on the comments , I am sure wittier than I could be be

I'm not sure how a talent agency can source opportunities for either of them when their unique selling point is something that they have drawn a line under. There is no way that they were not offered talk shows during the Charles and Catherine cancer and during the where's Kate, but they are boxed in, they cannot continue the slagging off and they had no other information because they are frozen out. The only one was Harry with a clearly scripted interview at a training camp for Invictus. They can only attend when they have autonomy of the narrative.
hoping for a speedy recovery sticky.

You could always watch it on your computer monitor and have mn open alongside @BasiliskStare (if you have a monitor big enough to make that a sensible idea). Or watch on telly with mn app on your phone (if you have one).

They're different though. WME is talent management and booking. NF is a media platform. As far as I can tell, the NF deal was content only until just recently (ie her latest announcement) and in terms of exclusivity was probably just linked to audiovisual media because she had Spotify at the same time.

WME should absolutely have been working on getting her deals: fashion, advertising, sponsorships, the works. As far as I can see the only thing they've done for her so far is put her in touch with their client Billie Eilish. Either Meghan is unbelievably picky and turns down everything, or the rumours that she's impossible to work with are true.

I'd be very interested to know what the current NF deal is. I've speculated that it's some kind of profit share on As Ever merch - they take a hefty cut in return for which they'll promote the merch. In their online stores and possibly also in product placement - expect to see some minor character ostentatiously eating As Ever jam in some Made For Netflix drama series later this year.

The profit split would be interesting to see. Meghan's star is much lower than it used to be and I'm not convinced she'll have been able to leverage much more than 60%. Or maybe more, I bet WME drive a hard bargain to be fair to them.

Profit margin on FMCGs like jam is pitiful anyway. She's gonna have to absolutely sell her heart out to make a halfway decent wedge.

Either Meghan is unbelievably picky and turns down everything, or the rumours that she's impossible to work with are true.

I think it's something else. I think she's trying to keep all options open. She won't do anything that would further link her to the RF (has to turn the page on all that) OR damage her links to it (for her sake, Harry's sake, the children's sake, whatever - birthright blah blah). But she has nothing else, so is left doing the most bland of bland things.

Someone, somewhere, would be able to make money off Meghan. She has a huge profile, she's easy on the eye. Managed correctly, there could be something good there. History is littered with difficult characters, and people will do a LOT to make good dollar. But I think she feels she has to toe a line. I think she thinks there's not much available to her that is befitting of a Duchess in exile with a Prince and Princess for children. I mean, the obvious answer is to stay out of the public eye, but that's not for our Megs.

That said, I can also believe she's picky. I see parallels between her and - stay with me! - Trump. His 2024 win and her UK presence in the run up to and right after her wedding were both moments when, if the papers are to believed, they both felt like they had the world in the palm of their hands. They felt universally loved and adored and in her case envied, regardless of any facts to the contrary. The power must be intoxicating. Nobody is going to come down from that easily.

I think we just agree a date and time, and everyone starts watching ep1 at the same time, rather than try to organise an official NF watch along.

This is also quite amusing. It's MM's bio on the Harry Walker Agency website (they represent high profile people for speaking events):

Lead actor in suits this requires a old school rotfl 🤣🤣

BunnyLake · 23/02/2025 17:00

She’d have a lot more flexibility in how she wants to present herself if she dropped those titles. She felt boxed in by the RF so why can't she see that the title is also boxing her in. Yes it’s opened doors but they're shutting. Just be Meghan, then you really can just be Meghan, shallow, vacuous warts and all. Her hypocrisy is killing her chances.

Reading that and not knowing anything about her anyone would be forgiven for thinking this is a composed woman of substance. It’s hard to marry that Meghan with the rictus grinning, seal clapping, claw clasping, chaotic mess we see in front of our very eyes.

Yes. Quite the discrepancy.

If I’d never heard of her I’d be imagining a woman with the aura of an Audrey Hepburn or Jackie Kennedy. I’d be wrong 😁

I thought so too, with a dash of Michelle Obama thrown in. Not someone who frequently collapses on the floor weeping when things don't go right.

I do recall Harry blamed the stress of the Daily Mail as causing it.

It's this sort of dangerous thinking that makes it astonishing that this man is allowed to be involved with mental health sufferers.

Yes, he doesn't seem to have the first idea, really.

Pamela Anderson comes across as so much more natural and dare I say it, authentic .
I guess this is why they do screen tests to see how people come over on camera, Meghan just has such an unfortunate way about her. x.com/according2_taz/status/1893692485777473987?s=46&t=zeqvo7Iw1m8V4kXAX7nn1A

I can get Netflix on my own big pooter @BasiliskStare (I need one because of poor sight, noone really asks if I'm OK with the poor sight 😂but I battle selflessly on, changing the world one word salad post and jar of jam at a time, etc etc, ad nauseum)

I mean, MM's series is directly lifted from Pamela's, isn't it? Astonishing and galling in equal measure. Did she think nobody would notice?

On a side note, I am loving the renaissance Pamela Anderson is having right now. The Last Showgirl looks fantastic, and I would have loved her it if she'd got the Golden Globe.

Edited for clarity.

Pamela came across as an absolute delight in her Netflix documentary. No fakery at all. This cooking show isn't my sort of thing at all but I would watch it just because she's in it.

MissFenellaPrism · 23/02/2025 17:34

Is Meghan actually cooking in this school? I heard she wasn't?

I’ve read that no cooking will take place, just lots of elevating , freezing stuff and tips on when to use lamps.

I wasn’t a fan in her Baywatch days but I am loving this Pamela. You can reinvent yourself but you still have to have something that doesn’t make people want to throw a brick at the tv screen. Whatever that something is Meghan doesn’t have it. I have to keep bricks safely away just to ensure I don’t use them!

I would never minimise the trauma of miscarriage having had 2 but I was bewildered about Harry burying the foetus in the garden .

I wouldve thought once it was an eccentric thing to do but when I had a missed miscarriage 5 years ago, the baby didn't pass naturally so it had be removed via surgery. When they asked me afterwards what I wanted to do with the remains I was clueless! But if I didn't take it home it would have been chucked in with all the other hospital waste matter and that just felt so disrespectful and something I felt would've played on my mind and continued to upset me. So my husband buried the remains in the garden. For us it was the right thing to do, I very rarely think of the miscarriage when I go past that part of the garden.. we haven't marked that bit of ground in any special way and I wouldn't find it a huge wrench to leave if we were to sell this house so there's no macabre or unhealthily maudlin nature to it. It gave me a lot of peace to feel like that little brief spark of life was absorbed into the earth to become part of a greater whole once again.
