As Ever

Meghan has renamed her luxury lifestyle brand 'As Ever'.

'As Ever essentially means as it's always been, and if you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking and crafting and gardening — this is what I do,' she said. '

Don't bother @IsoldeWagner , this poster is obviously looking to derail the thread and to start arguments!
Now I've clicked, I won't assist in the derailment.
Apologies @Chuchoter .

Good points, Jeff 👍

NooNakedJacuzziness · 18/02/2025 12:17

I'd prefer "As you were" - more down to earth

Asswhipe · 18/02/2025 12:17

Grandiose, Delusional and Faux - As Ever.

jeffgoldblum · 18/02/2025 12:18

Good point @FromThePrismOfJammyTodger !

IcedPurple · 18/02/2025 12:19

Back on topic, if NF are partnering in this, surely they're going to take a big slice of any profits? I can't see this being a serious money spinner for Meghan. As I said above, it looks like something from 15 years ago, and Meghan is too old, with too established a reputation, to start out with a fluffy brand like this. It might have worked straight after she left the royal family, but she wasted that time indulging grudges against her in laws and trying to play pretend royal.

I'm pretty sure that this is not where she thought she'd be 5 years ago.

IcedPurple · 18/02/2025 12:21

Ohpleeeease · 18/02/2025 12:14

Actually I would describe that as mildly critical. And valid.

“Hate” is definitely an emotion, not a slang term.

“Hating on” is not English so perhaps that’s where the confusion lies.

Does anyone older than the age of about 14 use the expression 'hate on'?

JustMyView13 · 18/02/2025 12:22

IcedPurple · 18/02/2025 12:13

I'm not sure what your 'original' comment was and I'm not arsed scrolling back to check. I've only seen you complain about other posters.

So do you think her brand looks relevant to the current times? And exactly what you'd expect from a 43 year old woman who's also claiming to be a serious philanthropist?

Ok - I wouldn’t say I was complaining. I’d say observing, but to each their own.

I plan to wait and see. We don’t really have any details just yet other than a brand name so there’s nothing to really judge at this point from my perspective. The show hasn’t aired yet. I don’t honestly see the relevance of her age at all. She’s a mum of young children. Some people will relate to her on that part, others will not. The house, from what I’ve seen in clips, is stunning. And I suspect the show will offer an element of escapism for some.

Regarding her work as a philanthropist - let’s wait and see. I don’t think someone is required to shout about all the work they’re doing, particularly if it’s likely to detract from the actual work they’re doing. She could be doing loads, she could be doing none. In all honesty neither of those outcomes impact my life.

All I keep thinking is ‘As ever, whatever!’

'Whatever' would have been a much better name.

Mylovelygreendress · 18/02/2025 12:24

@IcedPurple

“I'm pretty sure that this is not where she'd thought she'd be 5 years ago.”

Definitely not ! I imagine she thought she would be feted by world leaders who would hang on to her every word ( salad). Designers would be falling over themselves to dress her and the RF would be begging them to return .

IsoldeWagner · 18/02/2025 12:25

@JustMyView13 you weren't observing, you were criticising, which is perfectly valid. It's also valid to criticise self promoting celebrities.
Which is not hate.

That's an exercise in being non committal!

Yes, she's only had 5 years!

If South Park ever do a second episode on the Sussexes, I reckon they’ll use Whatever.

They must be soooo tempted!

AAAwantto · 18/02/2025 12:27

She's always loved cooking

SnoozingFox · 18/02/2025 12:27

I am finally getting round to watching their Netflix documentary.

Currently on the episode where Meghan was so good at being royal, the bestest ever Royal, better than all the other Royals, that they were so threatened by her beauty/intelligence/pose/awesomeness that the press bullied her.

Ohpleeeease · 18/02/2025 12:27

The problem with As Ever is that it doesn’t signify anything. With Love at least suggested a relationship between Meghan and the product, and then Meghan and the recipient.

As Ever says nothing. The phrase might suggest consistency, reliability, dependability but those aren’t characteristics anyone would associate with her and there is too much evidence out there to the contrary.

I don’t know why she didn’t just use her name, Meghan, assuming it’s available as a brand.

IAmATorturedPoet · 18/02/2025 12:28

Regarding her work as a philanthropist - let’s wait and see.

Wait and see, As ever

MostlySun · 18/02/2025 12:29

I'm certainly interested to see how successful this brand will be, if there is ever is anything on offer...the pricing and who will be buying it (rather than actively avoiding it - as I would even if I loved an item).
Meghan has been a fascinating person to watch. Admittedly in a WTF?! way but even so.
I suspect it will be nicknamed 'whatever' or worse very quickly too.

DuchessDissasster · 18/02/2025 12:29

I have an image in my mind of these kind of Netflix stores. They sell over priced tat for diehard fans of shows which usually are things like t shirts or mugs for the less spendy. They are the odd shop at the mall that you look in maybe and think " how much?". I can't see how jam and gardening tools even fit into this model.,

JudgeJ · 18/02/2025 12:29

Bollocks - as ever 😆

Can we have a MN campaign for a Bollocks button? Ideas for the design?

Are these the shops where you can buy green Squid Game tracksuits and the like?

If so, I agree that you wouldn't expect to find 'upmarket' homeware in such a place.

I’m not required to absolutely love or absolutely hate something that hasn’t been released though.

But you know what she’s done in the past, in terms of the support for Grenfell & with Archewell. Those things are all public.
What else would you like to see be done to meet your threshold of philanthropist? Would 2 foundations put her on that path for you? Or 3? Or is there a specific cause you would like to see her focus on?

It hasn't aged well, then.

I had never heard of her before she grabbed onto Harry and I too, having worked in Hispanic schools, thought she had Hispanic genes. There are too many people on this site who think that any criticism of a person 'of colour' is fundamentally racist.

I'm not going to let you drag this thread off topic more than you've already done, but Grenfell was before she found freedom from the horrors of being a working royal, and 'Archewell' is a damp squib.

But now she's back to her natural level, flogging rebranded tat.

Quite. It seems a very odd outlet for anything she's shown signs of selling so far, like sticking a Duchy Originals stand in a Disney store.

I might be wrong but aren't there only a couple of these Netflix places on the cards at the moment? How much product is that going to shift?
