Meghan has renamed her luxury lifestyle brand 'As Ever'.

'As Ever essentially means as it's always been, and if you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking and crafting and gardening — this is what I do,' she said. '

As Ever

How hard would it have been to reach out to the other brand, offer reassurance or some form of contract. Instead of the brand having to come out and discuss it.

As Ever

Well the company will be due another rebrand before a single jar of jam even hits the shelves at this rate. I can't believe that not even the most cursory research was done before choosing this name. It's literally the first result on Google when you search 'as ever'.

LunaNorth · 19/02/2025 01:46

So, someone failed to do the due diligence and has ended up fucking someone over.

As ever…

Wow. That's a big oops.

I just can’t get over the fact that the pair of them had the world at their feet, she was awarded the role of Patron of the National Theatre, a position the Queen herself held and which she gifted to Meghan, they were both President and Vice President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust and these were just for starters, I’m sure Charles would have given the pair of them even more patronages and responsibilities on the world stage particularly with him being ill, but then again I can see Meghan’s point of view, she wasn’t getting paid for it! No wonder she has had to resort to flogging jam in a Netflix store in Philly.

I know. If they had been patient, quietly raised their kids for a couple of years....

Once the late Queen was gone, Charles likely would have let them do whatever they wanted.

Instead they have become grifters, laughingstocks and in British society, pariahs.

Lavenderandbrown · 19/02/2025 02:25

So for me as I read the entire thread I hear the talking heads singing same as it ever was. Anyone else have that playing on loop?

CalicoPusscat · 19/02/2025 02:25

I suppose it's something she enjoys. It does make it hard to digest what they're up to though with all the rebranding and different ventures

Upsidedownimturningit · 19/02/2025 05:48

I do wonder if they both have ADHD. Neither of them seems to be able to stick at anything and follow through. They both have a low boredom threshold and think they should be the centre of attention all the time. That really doesn’t make for good parenting. In a way they both seem very immature, like they’re stuck in the adolescent stage. I wonder if this is what attracts them to each other.

Thedom · 19/02/2025 06:20

It is hard to believe they didn't do due diligence and also very, very unlikely, which leaves the unsavoury option that they DID know about the other company but just didn't care, in all likelihood the other company, being a small family business, probably doesn't have a trademark or copyright on their name.

Being uncaring and egocentric is how they operate, no concern for how they impact the lives of other people.

Yep. As Harry said, "What Meghan wants, meghan gets".

That's a very gracious post from AsEver NYC.

All this has made me wonder how much Stacey Solomon makes from her Asda lines. I have actually bought her Christmas plates a few years ago because I really liked them on Instagram and they were reasonably priced for something I only use a few times a year. Her launches always seem well attended too. Yes I follow her on Instagram, what she does seems authentic and true to her as a person.

She is also clearly a canny business woman with a firm grasp of the demographic she is aiming at with her various lines. She comes across as proud of what she produces and grateful for those who buy her stuff. She understands the unspoken contact that people expect some access in return for supporting her.

I'm not sure I get that from Meghan's Instagram. Maybe once she has actual products to sell rather than an idea?

CathyorClaire · 19/02/2025 07:28

Dropping in briefly to say I haven't searched out the video as yet but the logo looks like 'As Even' to me.

As Even Rachel might have spotted 😃

I wouldn't call defending your self from accusations of racism"engaging in tit for tat".

We are not talking about affairs and mistresses or similar topics.
As I have said previously given how heinous racist behaviour is, nothing is stopping the Royal Family from suing them if they feel that that they were lied about.

If I were Charles, as Head of the Commonwealth which has a large proportion of people of colour, I would strongly defend myself and my family with any means necessary. This is not tit for tat!

According to Harry neither him nor Meghan accused any one of being racist, despite accepting an award for tackling racism in the Royal Family.

Why would they bother to respond to people who can’t keep up with their own stories?

EasternStandard · 19/02/2025 07:32

I had missed pretty all this with rotating brands but Times radio just played a clip of her talking about jam etc

I did laugh

Firealarm1414 · 19/02/2025 06:38

Did you hear him say it or are you just regurgitating tabloids' nonsense such as the Sun( mind you Harry sued and won a case against this tabloid and was also awarded a large sum of money).

GiveMeSpanakopita · 19/02/2025 07:37

I watched Meghan's launch video and my thoughts, for the little they're worth, are as follows:

  1. I presume she's agreed some kind of 360 contract with NF, which will get the brand plenty of visibility but won't be very good for her pocket: she'll have to partially cede control over product lines and retail outlets, she may have to do certain promo activities at the behest of NF and NF will pocket I'd say, at least 40% of the profits
  2. The video and accompanying brand aesthetic isn't great. It's not terrible either. It's just meh. It's mid, like The Tig was mid, and indeed the aesthetic and style hasn't moved on at all from The Tig, 7 years ago. In career terms, it's quite a blow to spend 7 years achieving worldwide fame only to burn all your professional and familial bridges and end up exactly where you started, with a mid blog. That's quite the sideways move.
  3. Meghan needs a body language and acting coach. Like, urgently. To take one specific example, the constant forehead clutching has to stop. I appreciate that it shows off her engagement and wedding rings, and she may also be self-conscious about her botox vein, but body language-wise it gives off vibes of confusion, frustration and despair. Which will not make As Ever terribly attractive to prospective customers.
  4. She also needs a scriptwriter, because her script was poor: she struck an oddly defensive note and seemed to be more interested in rebutting various criticisms she's read in the media (ARO in trademark hell, jam is a crap product, etc etc) than in telling a coherent and compelling brand story. Thus Meghan shows herself to have already fallen into the terrible trap which many influencers fall into when their career starts to decline: being overly influenced, controlled and led by the tone of the comments section. It's disconcerting to see Meghan seemingly entering into this downward spiral at the actual brand launch, when the direction of travel should be up.
  5. The brand name must have leaked because no way is this a proper launch. It's giving cobbled together in a panic. Probably why she left Invictus in a hurry.

TLDR: As Ever seems like a deeply mid-market brand and Meghan's entire brand and personality is now in hock to Netflix puppetmasters. Finding Freedom indeed!

LunaNorth · 19/02/2025 07:50

I’ve just had a mental image of a bunch of As Ever jam on that weird food shelf they stick near the tills in TK Maxx.

I’d buy it if I saw it there.

I think she is deliberately showing her rings as she always does. It’s so obvious that’s what she’s doing. ‘Look at me, I’m married! To a Prince’. The bump clutching was more of the same. ‘Look at me! I’m pregnant! My child is Royal!!’ It’s quite pathetic.

Having concerns about the skin colour of an unborn child is racism (please note that the word used was concern)
Not coming out to defend your grandson when likened to a chimp( mind you said grandson is of African descent) is racism.

Some media headlines when it comes to Meghan scream racism.
I could go on and on for the entire day.
The way that women was treated whilst in the UK is abhorrent, period.

If you want to continue to play dumb that is on you.
If you want to continue idealise a family because they are "ordained by God "that is on you.
If instead of focusing on the fact that whilst we are all struggling under the strain of this COL crisis this lovely , classy family that you are so bent on defending has access to tax cuts and advantages that me and you could only dream about that is on you.
If tearing apart almost on a daily basis a woman that had the gut and decency to say no to racist abuse, speak out and rebuild her life makes you feel better that is on you
