Meghan has renamed her luxury lifestyle brand 'As Ever'.

'As Ever essentially means as it's always been, and if you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking and crafting and gardening — this is what I do,' she said. '

@jeffgoldblum that lasted long! 😆😆

I do not believe I have posted anything goady or that by disagreeing I am trying to derail the thread. Please feel free to report any of my posts you feel break the guidelines...

I will not be going back and forth with people that are so bent in believing that these two "have thrown hate to their entire family"
Were you there with them?
Are you part of the family?
Are you aware of their family dynamics?
The answers to all of these questions is no.
Meghan has moved on with her life, she has moved on from the UK and the Royal Family. She is a happy and accomplished woman and that shows.
If you don't like move on. You are NOT her target market/audience.

They did a Netflix series, a Winfry interview. Books. More interviews. We didn't need to be there they told us all about their list of woes and perceived slights.

@FromThePrismOfJammyTodger we will have to agree to disagree.

Ok.
I still stand by my statement that she doesn't have original ideas though.

Or Google apparently.

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 18/02/2025 18:26

I find it fascinating that most of the projects seem to get as far as a big brand reveal and then…absolutely nothing. It’s all so empty, like their heads.

Minor royals just arent that interesting, even to the most ardent royalists (of which I absolutely am not!). Look at Edward - who can even tell you one single fact about Edward? I couldn’t. Even Andrew is boring as hell and he’s a prolific sex offender linked to billionaires on a pedo island - it doesn’t get much weirder or more bizarre than that, but still - no one really gives a fuck.

Meghan made a pretty huge mistake because she looked at Kate and thought it would be like that. That’s the top job though, and that spot is already taken! when weighing it all up and whether it was worth it, she should have looked at Harry’s equivalents - Edward and Andrew. Maybe she would have made a different choice. I certainly would!

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 18/02/2025 18:18

I think her lack of commitment to a brand and follow through with any of her ideas is rather sad but I don’t think being a feminist is dependent on enjoying cooking and decorating.

Her letter ( which was a class assignment) was a great assignment to point out the sexism in advertising especially 30 years ago.

I think the issue is she has no identity beyond Harry’s wife. That’s a much bigger issue in terms of women’s voices.

She’s using the imagine of a woman’s place being in the kitchen to sell her products. It’s no different to what Proctor and Gamble did.

I'll take that as a sign you have no logical answer. I'll also take your advice and ignore your posts, they add nothing to an interesting discussion.

Vitriolinsanity · 18/02/2025 18:27

Why's she curled up in a squat in a wood?

wooliegloves · 18/02/2025 18:28

Maybe she doesn't. What would you have liked to have seen her launch instead of a lifestyle brand?

I really don't care what she 'launches', if acting was her strength, she could have stuck to that.

Have you thought of commenting on some of the YouTube channels which examine the Sussexes? There are plenty to choose from. It would be a shame to limit yourself.

Actual products with a bona fide trademark? Preferably one that doesn't add the population of Marbella to the extensive list of the bemused.

Just to clarify, we are only allowed to discuss people that know us? MN will be done within the week

Do you not think the MNs threads that are the most emotional, personal, hurt etc are very much the threads about the actions of family or friends hence why the OP is so upset.

I've been on mn for 18 years how dare we talk about people we don't know Blush

Onlyonekenobe · 18/02/2025 18:33

wooliegloves · 18/02/2025 18:12

If you don't think any of this matters why have you posted so many times on this thread?

You misunderstand. I don't think it matters what jam she makes but I do think it matters how she is criticised so much & I do find the way she triggers some quite fascinating & intriguing as to what motivates that.

This is an open forum so I can post what I like & you can ignore me...

I think this is a fair question ie what motivates people to criticise her so much.

Ever since I was a little child (pre-internet!!) I've been baffled by the dye-in-the-wool royalists. The ones who turn up at wedding decked out in Union Jack suits, the ones who have all the memorabilia in their homes, the ones who queue up in the cold and rain to see them pass in a car etc. I understand the historians, but not the fandom. It's different from pop stars or movie stars in that at least they have some creative output to latch onto, something that might resonate. I can only think that something resonates with these fans, enough to push them into sycophancy.

The mirror image of that, you could argue, is this equally passionate critiquing of Meghan and Harry. Except, I critique (and have done since the very first hypocritical lecture over zoom during the pandemic, where she - a woman who came to riches and prominence only through marriage - tried to tell young girls that they're enough if they just try hard at school) Meghan Markle but have never, not even as a teen, stooped to any level of fandom. Never had a poster of a person on my walls, even! So I don't think it's mirror images of the same thing.

I think with Meghan it's that she thinks she's pulled the wool over people's eyes, including Harry's (and possibly her own) and yet there are many women who recognize her for what she is because we know women like her in our own lives. Plus a really base tabloid-esque wish to see 'justice' ie the wool being pulled from people's eyes. She's a chancer, that's obvious to anyone with eyes. There's nothing wrong with being a chancer, we all have to make a living somehow and women sometimes need to be extra-resourceful. But what sticks with MM and her ilk is not owning it. Lying, duping, pretending she's something she's not. I have never criticised MM for hustling; I actually semi-admire her for it. But my goodness the hypocrisy and duplicity and sanctimony. Nobody likes a bullshitter, and sadly for MM they ALWAYS get found out eventually.

After being tabloid fodder for years, they finally decided to speak for themselves and tell their story( note that they have the right to so, the type or number of outlets that were used is irrelevant). After doing that they decided to close that chapter of their life and move on.

Yes they told their story and everyone else's. Just like tabloid reporters.

That's true but then look at the Daily Mail articles on H&M which generate thousands of comments & the H&M threads are pretty prolific & often trending. Clearly people are interested in them...
