I’m not surprised you couldn’t finish the sentence. I’d be stumped how to finish it too 😂

😂😂

And Harry knows how to do it.

The whole MO of the Royal Family at charity events is to arrive, make a speech and focus the spotlight on the work (and people!) of the charity.

Harry seems to have forgotten how to do what he spent years doing - and he's spoiling what he's done for Invictus in the process.

That's because he decided to monetise his title and status, and chase celebrity, rather than a more productive life.

veraswaistcoat · 09/02/2025 12:25

This is obviously something that Harry loves. He knows/ knew how to do this stuff and seems to be well respected when he does it alone - as long as he is not trying to offer things that he can't do eg with the First People of Canada. He must be so disappointed by what has already happened - the focus in the news on Meghan and her behaviour as opposed to the event itself. He must be surely? I can't imagine that he is happy that he is being constantly pawed by his wife when he is in this capacity - basically " at work" . She minimises the sentiment. She minimises him. What other CEO or head of business or charity or UN representative stands there and gets pawed at by their wife ? It is bizarre.

veraswaistcoat · 09/02/2025 12:29

@IcedPurple how true is that ! She's so self absorbed though with her breathy, flirty, coy introduction of him though.

"I also think it's weird that Meghan publicly announced that they had left the children in California. Nobody needs to know this, and it's not something which someone who was paranoid about their family's security would do."

NormaMajors1992coat · 09/02/2025 12:30

I am a firm believer in the idea that your enemies can be used to elevate you .
This is exactly what has happened in the case of Harry and Meghan

How have their enemies been used to elevate them?

I mean firstly, leaving aside the enemies bit, what elevation are you talking about - do you think the transition from aiming to "uplift and unite communities, one act of compassion at a time" to global laughing stocks amounts to elevation? Hardly a week goes by without some new PR disaster or bullying revelations, the snowball is rolling down the hill fast now.

They were going to change the world with their Netflix content. These days not only are they not invited to the Netflix season launch, it's now fine for a NF new signing to take the piss out of them in front of all the high-ups. A room full of Netflix execs and press laughed at them.

I don't think desperate-insta-influencer-using-other-people's-misfortunes-for-likes is quite what they had in mind in 2020 tbh.

I have never been convinced that’s what Harry envisaged when they flounced off . It was clearly a shock to lose his security and income from his father so he was swept along by Meghan’s ideas .
I frequently think that he has a dazed expression as if he can’t quite believe what is happening . An example being their pretend Royal visit to Columbia when he was relegated to a canteen table for his meal while Meghan sat in the centre .,

Congratulations to Harry AND Meghan
The naysayers can spout as much nonsense as they want.

Does she stick a sprig of mint on her head when someone says something negative about her?

Yes, for a couple who are supposedly so paranoid about keeping their children private, they have no issue with talking about them in public, even when it's entirely irrelevant.

And no competent security professional would advise someone to reveal the location of their children to the world.

While avoiding assuming too much from "snapshots" I have to agree on the whole - but then as has been said countless times he's a bit stuck now that the alternatives could be even worse

Or in other words a prime example of making your bed and having to lie in it

veraswaistcoat · 09/02/2025 12:40

I wonder whether Harry had the conversation with Meghan saying " look hun if you come to Canada , it's all going to be about what you wear , what jewellery you are wearing and what you are doing .. If you don't go then it will be more about the games and the vets. What do you think ? "

It's obvious to EVERYONE that this is a fact. Yet Meghan continues to show up and yes the press then go ape shit. Why feed them the negativity? I really don't get it .

" well babe, I can introduce you lovingly then I can turn up and slobber over you at every possible occasion. I will leave some jewellery at home and not wear anything OTT. I can move wheelchairs out of your attempts to be zany. What do you think, babe? "

I'm actually horrified and disgusted that she grabbed that ladies wheelchair and pulled her backwards!!!
Does she have any sense of decorum or decency?

veraswaistcoat · 09/02/2025 12:47

Now there's reports about Harry's dig about "weak immoral character " bringing politics into the games after Trump described Meghan as a terrible problem for Harry . Just why is he doing this?

And I hate to say it but let's be honest, the real reason she put that white coat on over her black outfit is obvious, when on the podium she didn't need to stand out from the crowd.
Once off , she needed it so she could be spotted easily for the cameras, surrounded by all the other people wearing darker colours!

Really? That's awful. I agree, I don't think he fully thought it out, if at all.
Then he got selfish and greedy, and the obvious way to make £millions was to sell personal and private details about his family.
That, in my opinion, makes him lower than a snake's belly.

Excellent 😁
That certainly would be "elevating something pretty ordinary"

And isn't "enemies" a bit OTT as a way of describing people who don't agree with the way they handle things?
It sounds like Blofeld plotting against James Bond instead of people saying "That speech was a bit sickly".

No

FenellaFeldman · 09/02/2025 13:04

I think, @LaMarschallin , some people find it very hard when H&M get challenged or criticised, so just label people as "enemies" (sic) or occasionally, "haters".
As if they're the only celebrities that no-one dare be critical of! 😂

Ohpleeeease · 09/02/2025 13:05

I also think it's weird that Meghan publicly announced that they had left the children in California. Nobody needs to know this, and it's not something which someone who was paranoid about their family's security would do.

Indeed, and it chimes very badly with her “I’m a mom” narrative to talk so flippantly about leaving her children over 1200 miles away to be at an event that she has no need to attend, officially or otherwise.

Uricon2 · 09/02/2025 13:05

Invictus is Harry's thing. It is worthwhile and important and it's a real shame the emphasis is on this nonsense. OK, maybe there would have been speculation if she didn't attend, but she could have sent a brief message to the competitors and turned up for the closing ceremony.

As usual, whatever the intention was it has backfired badly and it isn't just because they're being photographed, it's the performative PDAs (no need) and that cringey introduction. So far.
