I’ve often thought how similar she is to Yoko Ono and how their relationship mirrors J and Y so much.

OMG that really could be Meghan! She is the Yoko Ono to Invictus! Someone with know-how should do a meme or something with her face over Yoko’s!

Like this you mean 😂

friendlycat · 09/02/2025 11:20

Gosh I feel embarrassed for her. What on earth was that awful introductory speech about? Why just why? It just makes her look beyond self absorbed and him look utterly ridiculous. And it's so sad when you consider what he is there to promote.

Then the face/hand clamping kiss, the head on his shoulder. All the hand clasping. They're not out on a fluffy date night.

I actually think they are now utterly beyond any help whatsoever.

Even an inexperienced PR could offer basic advice here, that if it were acted upon would place her streets ahead of where she is now. She is completely incapable of letting him take front of stage, maintaining a low key profile in a supporting manner and behaving with appropriate decorum.

It's sad though that Invictus and what it stands for gets diluted by her antics with media coverage inevitably focusing some of their attention on this deluded performance, rather than the core focus of Invictus itself.

Agree with every word.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 09/02/2025 11:34

Meghan clearly doesn’t do self reflection or she wouldn’t be making this yet another fashion- ain’t-I-an-amazing-wife show
Meanwhile where are the Veterans who should be central not H and M

The first is a given, @Mylovelygreendress, and on the second the veterans are all around her - I posted a nice link exclusively about them yesterday

In fairness it's hardly Meghan's fault if the media focus almost solely on her, but the point is that she'd have known this would happen and did it anyway, which brings us straight back to your first sentence

At least she didn't try to lead the parade though Hmm

I couldn't get past the intro game-show host bit - let's get them whooping and hollering before the main act comes on. I gather from this thread it didn't improve...☺️

Isn't that what she's aiming for, though, @Puzzledandpissedoff ? Harry too?
That's their whole raison d'etre. Fame. Publicity. Headlines. Pictures. Clicks.
Both of them could have deflected and made Invictus not about them. Think about how other people introduce and support events.
It's entirely possible.

But she has her own PR strategy being executed at these games solely for her own brand not the IG ... evidenced by her postings on her IG.....aimed at being picked up by the MSM - she will be delighed with the column inches generated about her in the lead up to her NF series.

$11 million for a workforce that is 90 percent volunteer?

Quite. And the volunteers pay for their own accommodation expenses.

From the link I posted there's a budget of approx Can $10,760 for accommodations and catering which is the equivalent of approx £6m .

If we allow say £750 per competitor and two family per night for 9 nights (it's not going to be 5* with a private lift) that comes in at around £3.7m.

Where is the rest going?

Of course this was what Meghan was aiming for, Fenella and @DolliDimples; that's why I said she'd have known what would happen and went ahead just the same

As so many have said the woman's incapable of making an event about the attendees rather than herself, but then it's so often a mark of deep inadequacy to crave this sort of attention all the time, and though I always hope this Invictus will be different it's not happened so far

The easiest way Meghan could avoid making this all about her is simply by not attending. There is no reason for her to be there. The IG existed years before Harry even met her. She could maybe turn up for the closing event but why does she have to be there for a whole tournament where she has no role to play? Especially when it involves leaving their children in another country without either of their parents for a week?

I don't think this is going to do her 'brand' any favours. It comes across as desperate and people these days are very savvy about 'celebrities' making charity events all about them. Especially when they have a long track record in doing just that.

Congratulations to Harry AND Meghan
The naysayers can spout as much nonsense as they want.
I am a firm believer in the idea that your enemies can be used to elevate you .
This is exactly what has happened in the case of Harry and Meghan

Samcro · 09/02/2025 12:05

IcedPurple · 09/02/2025 10:22

It's odd how often they willingly leave their small children to travel to another country. I don't have kids, but the parents I know hate leaving their children and only do so when it's really necessary. Obviously Harry needs to be at the IG but Meghan really doesn't. It has nothing to do with her. Or if they both wanted to go, why not bring the children? They certainly have the resources to rent out an apartment and bring the nanny if they wanted. Also, from what I hear, these events are family friendly and surely Archie at least would be old enough to enjoy some of the activities?

oh come on. if they had taken Archie there they would have been ripped apart.

Yes, I agree. It's optimistic to think she'd change, but we can hope.
She's the sort of person who clearly wants to court controversy as it's a good shortcut to celebrity. Harry is complicit and part of this strategy.

veraswaistcoat · 09/02/2025 12:11

Harry looks like a dumbass dancing like that - look people look at me !
As for the looks on the faces of the actual woman in the chair and the others, well it says it all . Dumb and dumber.

It's entirely possible.

And Harry knows how to do it.

The whole MO of the Royal Family at charity events is to arrive, make a speech and focus the spotlight on the work (and people!) of the charity.

Harry seems to have forgotten how to do what he spent years doing - and he's spoiling what he's done for Invictus in the process.

They wouldn't have to have the kids front and centre all the time.

As I said above, the IG pride themselves on being family friendly and they could spend time with other kids at the activities organised for them.

I also think it's weird that Meghan publicly announced that they had left the children in California. Nobody needs to know this, and it's not something which someone who was paranoid about their family's security would do.
