The only thing Meghan is attempting to elevate at invictus is her profile and wallet .

Mylovelygreendress · 09/02/2025 13:09

The top photo shows Harry sitting beside Rose Hanbury at a State Dinner. Apparently Meghan was furious that she wasn’t allowed to attend as she was only Harry’s girlfriend.
Shortly after, the Rose/ William rumours started.
Obviously a coincidence.

Does she stick a sprig of mint on her head when someone says something negative about her?

I think the word “elevate” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the world of the Sussexes 🙄😆

FenellaFeldman · 09/02/2025 13:10

@Mylovelygreendress ... coincidence?...🤔

You could even say ' heavy elevating' @smilesy 🤣

Invictus is Harry's thing. It is worthwhile and important and it's a real shame the emphasis is on this nonsense. OK, maybe there would have been speculation if she didn't attend, but she could have sent a brief message to the competitors and turned up for the closing ceremony.

As usual, whatever the intention was it has backfired badly and it isn't just because they're being photographed, it's the performative PDAs (no need) and that cringey introduction. So far.

Invictus is worthwhile and important but let’s remember it is also a niche charity. I don’t know what the attendance is like but the response to their speeches sounded like they were in a half empty hall.

It’s been a while since British soldiers have been involved in conflict and, hopefully, there will be a dwindling number of them needing what Invictus offers.

Harry’s mission is now to grow it internationally, thereby creating an enduring role for himself. Meghan is along for the ride.

friendlycat · 09/02/2025 13:15

I find it interesting when you consider say David Beckham and Victoria attending two recent royal state style evening events and how they have conducted themselves. David acknowledges certain people he recognises in the walk through line up with a friendly raised eyebrow and smile. Victoria besides him in a supporting role, albeit looking a lot nervous.

Both recognise their significance at being invitees but act with decorum and appropriateness without any diva performance behaviour.

No training or full on advice on how to behave, besides perhaps having read briefing notes, but an inherent knowledge of what is expected from such a high profile event.

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 13:15

🤣🤣 indeed @FenellaFeldman but can either of them actually drive it 🤣

She has obviously been watching h the old episode of friends where Susan Sarandon (?) shows Joey how to kiss holding the other person’s face to keep the focus on them .
In nearly 40 years I can’t recall kissing or being kissed like that by my husband .
If I can drag myself out of bed I might try it . Have to extricate him for his newspaper first !

Im looking forward to photos of the ‘smell the fart’ pose if she is taking acting lessons from Friends -DOOL edition 😆

Meghan clearly doesn’t do self reflection or she wouldn’t be making this yet another fashion- ain’t-I-an-amazing-wife show
Meanwhile where are the Veterans who should be central not H and M

The first is a given, @Mylovelygreendress, and on the second the veterans are all around her - I posted a nice link exclusively about them yesterday

In fairness it's hardly Meghan's fault if the media focus almost solely on her, but the point is that she'd have known this would happen and did it anyway, which brings us straight back to your first sentence

At least she didn't try to lead the parade though Hmm

I think that’s a good point about the media.

Given Harry’s recent court cases, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that the tabloids and the rest of the Murdoch press, and newspapers edited by former Murdoch men, will not be going out of their way to portray Meghan in a positive light.

And like it or not, I believe that there are many “friends of” certain establishment figures who are continuing to influence the narrative, because it distracts from other issues.

Therefore, I think we have to be very clear and objective about the nature of the prism through which we observe all of these news stories.

Also, despite the fact that I don’t particularly care for everything that Meghan does, or the way she goes about certain things, I don’t like the way it’s become a global sport to pick on her. It doesn’t feel right to me.

And frankly any time one’s opinion aligns with that of Clarkson or Morgan; I think its fair enough to question it and ask why?

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 13:27

For @coolmum123 !

veraswaistcoat · 09/02/2025 13:28

Of course the media are going to comment on Meghan now and that is the very reason why her appearance at such an event should be carefully considered .

NotaRealHousewife · 09/02/2025 13:29

@jeffgoldblum oh dear

Herbologistinwaiting · 09/02/2025 13:31

Anyone with half a brain could turn it around ,
now or at some point in the past. She doesn’t need all these PR firms,
she need to use common sense . Neither of them seem to have any.

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 13:32

I know @NotaRealHousewife , no idea what was going on here!

sleetysnowflakes · 09/02/2025 13:32

Her intro speech is a bit like the auction of promise episode on motherland.

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 09/02/2025 13:37

Sound the klaxon! Clarkson and Morgan have been invoked! We are all doomed! Doomed, I tell ya!!

Maybe someone didn't get the memo that shaming pretty well educated, liberal women holding (how dare they!) opinions on objective facts/objectively observable behaviour, with the suggestion they are aligned to the right, is a bit 2023.

And Murdoch is a republican, and the Murdoch press is as much favorable to Harry and Meghan as it is negative, from my reading. They also have the Mirror (whom they have sued) and the Express giving them regular, positive coverage. Alongside the numerous US tabloids that give over pages of fluff pieces to them week after week, M&H are not short of positive, global press.

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 13:39

Where @FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger ?

Lampzade · 09/02/2025 13:43

Some of you need to take advice from Elsa from ‘Frozen’ and Let it go ffs
The Sussexes are not going to come back with their tails between their legs.

Meghan pointed the finger at the RF, and specifically targeted Catherine in the most heinous way. You can question the motives of some of her critics, but in terms of whether she deserves the negative attention, yes she absolutely does. She has yet to apologise or in any way make amends for what she did.
