Another day, more weirdness.

I can't believe a Ukrainian competitor would be daft enough to pass drugs to a British Royal Prince who is Patron of the IG in full view of the cameras and am inclined to think it is either one of those strange complex modern handshakes or possibly a note. The thank you that Harry clearly says might be because, Ukraine. I too would like to see it from other angles though because it is all a bit odd.

Re Meghan's swift exit; I also can't believe if the plan was for her to leave midway that it wouldn't have been public from the start, if only to avoid the strange optics this has created. Maybe one of the children is unwell or something equally innocuous, but after the antics of the last few days there is bound to be speculation about this and it's being handled in the usual cack handed way.

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 12/02/2025 09:23

Would love to know what the cameraman in the background caught. It does look like something was handed over. Hopefully, it's just a nice message from President Zelensky.

It’s not impossible that Harry is still using drugs like cocaine. I doubt very much indeed that he would need to get his supply handed over in full view of the cameras. Is he THAT stupid? Maybe. Perhaps he just doesn’t care anymore .

NormaMajors1992coat · 12/02/2025 09:44

I wonder whether Harry has told her to go, or someone from Invictus, or her PR person has advised it, or maybe she's just fed up of the endless negative coverage. This year she was meant to be rebranding / relaunching herself, but it's only mid Feb and already she's had the VF article with yet more bullying allegations, accusations of grief tourism, the weird Billie Eilish video, whatever is going on with NF that they postponed the series, and now all this Invictus criticism 😬

It's obvious to most people but presumably she has no idea why she keeps getting it so wrong, it must be quite dispiriting. She must (hopefully) know that coming back with the children in tow will not go down well.

Mylovelygreendress · 12/02/2025 09:48

Samcro · 12/02/2025 09:36

so you say that she shouldn't be there.
she leaves.
now thats wrong.

😂

Not quite …..
I don’t think there was any need for her to go . Invictus is nothing to do with her .
If she insisted on going there was no need to introduce “ her husband”, no need for the PDAs, no need for the never ending parade of designer clothes but rather , stick on an Invictus coat and cheer from the front row.
I am not saying she is wrong to leave , if she is missing her DC fair enough but history shows that she ( and Harry ) willingly spend a lot of time away from home so it seems ( to me) a bit odd that she should pack up half way through the event , which will inevitably cause discussion and inevitably detract - yet again - from the Games .
There is already speculation on SM which I am not saying I believe but I do think it is strange.

She shouldn't be rude. That's the issue. She came. IMO she shouldn't have, but since she did, she ought to have acted with some decorum and not sought to overshadow her husband (the patron) and more importantly, the competitors and the competition. She's made the event about her with her attention seeking behaviour, and leaving without a word also makes the event about her. Why no goodbye to her adoring public? She gave the impression in her day 1 speech she'd be there for the duration. There's a permanent podium for making speeches to the attendees, she could easily have done a farewell speech. There's not even an Instagram message to say "Goodbye, I had fun, good luck for the coming days!" And why hasn't she spent any time with her Nigerian Invictus family, bigging them up? Nope, she just disappears without saying anything, so, once again, it's all about her.

Edited for clarity and SPAG.

Im pretty sure I read last week that she would be leaving ... not sure where though but have it in my head that she wasnt there for whole event. Also, I think it's along time to be away from the kids so dont blame her really. The focus should now be about the games.

Stickystickysticky · 12/02/2025 08:21

I'm sure Harold can and does access his 'medications' more discreetly but it's definitely an odd look for a self-confessed dabbler.

That’s interesting . I read that H and M were going away for a holiday immediately after the Games “ to reconnect”.

She didn’t need to do the excessive PDA, designer wardrobe and generally elbowing her way into every photo opportunity if she was only going to do half a job anyway

Of course she needed to get the shots, @PrettyFlyforaMaiTai; it's all footage for any future "initiatives" Hmm

And yes, you could well be right about Dusseldorf, @FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger; a few of the things you mentioned do sound familiar, though I'd honestly thought the arrival half way through was known in advance

Lockupyourbiscuits · 12/02/2025 10:08

Why didn’t they just take the children to Canada - but they could stay nearby out of the limelight so they could both see them every day

it was very strange they stayed in the U.K. all that time when the queen died
one or both of them could easily have nipped back to see their kids

They both seem very hands off from all the time they spend away from their children
It’s not normal for people who actually have the choice !

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 12/02/2025 10:11

I looked back on commentary from the time, @Puzzledandpissedoff . It definitely was not known whether she would attend Dusseldorf until she turned up, there were no pre-announcements.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/02/2025 10:12

That's the whole point for me and always has been, @Mylovelygreendress
Every sodding time I hope that just for once it can be kept mostly about the veterans and every time it isn't

Obviously it's not H&M's fault that the blasted media focus on them instead, but they could at least behave in a way that avoids some of the more lurid headlines and unfortunately choose not to

Edited to add thanks for looking Dusseldorf up, @FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger - very happy to say I was wrong on that one

I don't think so, they announced via People that Meghan would be attending the Invictus games to support Harry, there was no mention of her only going for a few days or leaving midway. I think it would have been mentioned at that point if that was the case.

Unless it was to generate interest and controversy and keep her in the media without actually having to do the boring work of showing up and mingling.

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 12/02/2025 10:15

Funnily enough, post Dusseldorf they went on to Portugal, so no rushing back to the kids back then.

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 12/02/2025 10:18

I think she deliberately doesn't announce anything to keep the press guessing and generate interest through her "surprise" appearances. It means all eyes are on her. It's a pattern.

CoffeeCantata · 12/02/2025 10:19

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 12/02/2025 08:26

It doesn’t make sense to leave half way through. I get that she misses her kids, but then why go at all? It’s not like it’s her event. If she wanted to go to support her husband she could have just attended the opening and closing ceremony, and gone back home in between.

She didn’t need to do the excessive PDA, designer wardrobe and generally elbowing her way into every photo opportunity if she was only going to do half a job anyway.

I’ve also seen this photo floating around the internet. It’s just a snap shot but there’s that withering scowl again.

I don't like to follow the predictable, cliched line, but quite honestly the parallels with the D and D of Windsor get stronger every day.

In a biography of Wallis (I think it might have been the Andrew Morton one) he includes a picture of the pair in the 50s, attending some kind of ball in France. The Duke has his usual downtrodden, pathetic whipped-dog expression and Wallis has almost exactly the same expression as Meghan when she's 'hissing' sharply at Harry (or other unfortunate minions). She's saying something to him and Andrew Morton captions the photo 'Wallis has a few tart words for David' or similar. Will try to find this photo....if I can.

I have a terrible Resting Bitch face...and I have to make an effort to look at least neutral on photos, so I get why someone in the public eye needs to be mindful of their facial expression and it must be exhausting. But even so, the contrast between Meghan's gushing public persona and her pretty scary demeanour when she thinks no-one's watching is striking to say the least! There doesn't seem to be a happy medium - just a relaxed vibe between them - it's either full-on beaming and PDAs, or that narrow eyed intense glare.

I suspect you are right, but it appears to be backfiring in a big way.

I think she finds Invictus Games all very boring and tedious, plus Harry hasn't exactly played ball with the young couple in love performance to try to dispel the divorce book. There are no high profile people for her to mingle with (early games had the support of Jill Biden, Michelle Obama, Barak Obama, JustinTrudeau, the Royal Family, even Melania Trump showed up for the Toronto games).

It looks like when she is not achieving the hoped for glory and adulation, she just cannot be bothered.

Any normal person would see all this press and SM crap and really think what is going on here, what am I doing , how is this in any way at all positive for Invictus. Is she so deluded that she can't see this ?

veraswaistcoat · 12/02/2025 11:33

I mean regardless of whether she thinks the criticism is fair or not .

Ha, the one thing that never crossed my mind is that she might have left in order to put Invictus first 😬

She must be under such pressure, everything she does turns to absolute crap. I can't fathom why she thought this Invictus performance would go down well, it's just more of what she's been criticised for before.

No I think the world and especially the veterans are heaving a collective sigh of relief that someone had the balls to tell her to bugger off with all this self serviing bollocks, making a farce of the veterans and an absolute spectacle of herself and Harry
Good riddance !

That's understandable, @NormaMajors1992coat
With no evidence that she's ever put anything above her own interests and plenty that self promotion is all that matters it's a natural thing to think
