Why is Meghan on the stage ?

Apparently she was bored at her first Buckingham Palace Garden Party and left early, she’s probably bored rigid at Invictus, she’s got loads of material for ‘the gram’ now so maybe she will return for the closing ceremony, possibly with the kids for the money shot.

I understand there's a rumour she was originally planning to leave accompanied by a choir of seals harmonising, "Isn't she Wonderful" whilst holograms of the late queen and Diana strewed rose petals . Apparently there was a technical hitch. But then some people will believe anything...

Well , the old cynic in me says that she was either told she was spoiling things for everyone and it was suggested she leave or she clocked the bad press she was getting and decided to leave herself , the children as a cover story. (because she's had ample opportunity to say she would be going back early to see them ).By the time she touches down at Santa Barbara I m sure this will have been reframed in her mind as , I was just so popular I was getting too much attention and I didn't want to detract from Harry and the athletes.

On reflection though , this is way too cynical and I think @LivelyMintViper 's scenario is the more likely.

I think she got bored hanging around a rather unglamorous environment in the cold, and has enough footage to edit into her upcoming NF show. I'd be surprised if she's not back for the closing ceremony, but I don't see her bringing the children.

If so, that will be 4 private jet journeys in under 2 weeks. Is Travalyst keeping score?

If she’s genuinely gone home to spend time with her children I hope she does just that, gives the nannies the day off and has some family time with them on her own, doing whatever they enjoy doing. No-one begrudges her a normal family life if that’s what she actually wants.

I think she should just tell us.

One thought did occur to me which is that there might be security reasons for being vague about her movements. Despite the accusations that fly around there isn’t really any hate on these threads, just a lot of robust criticism. However out in the wild world there may be people who do actually hate her and wish her harm.

Most high profile individuals have people who hate them and wish them harm. I doubt Meghan is unique in that. And simply 'hating' a celebrity doesn't mean you are in any position to inflict harm upon them.

Also, as I said above, someone concerned about their security would not be happily letting the world know the whereabouts of the children they'd left at home without their parents.

I think she’s the sort of person who just gets bored and wants out straight away. She only wants to do anything if there is something in it for her. I don’t think she would listen to a PR person. Remember the debacle in Fiji , the garden party, as well as the trend for leaving early on other occasions.

I have a friend whose 6-yr-old son is tall for his age, so he passes for 8. It's a burden for him because he is expected to behave older, when he is still just six.

Conversely, qualifying M as "young" leads to her being given all kinds of unmerited allowances due to her "tender" years.

There is a rumour on X that she’s left Whistler but is still in Vancouver and hasn’t gone back to California.
Apparently they were problems with the flight.
She will have a lot of contacts there still so it’s not the craziest rumour I have ever heard. She could be partying with Marcus Anderson at SoHo House rather than at home with the kids.

Could be a complete coincidence but the biz jet that took the couple northbound a few days back did a Vancouver-Santa Barbara hop last night, with a quick stop in Seattle that gave just enough time for customs formalities (as far as I know SBA is not a gateway/customs airport).

This is not true. The amount of hate Meghan gets is off the scale.

Scrutiny and criticism is not 'hate'. The pair of them have dished it out in bucketfuls and deserve all the negative comments that they get.

Oh come on! There are loads of comments criticising them for things other Royals get praised for.
Harry and Meghan holding hands!! How dare they!! PDAs are disgusting and inappropriate at work.
Sophie and Edward holding hands or Charles and Camilla, oh how sweet, they are obviously in love.
And on and on and on.

I don’t recall any other Royal couple doing the hands on side of face and delivering a lingering kiss in public.
I don’t recall any other Royal couple doing the holding hand and using the other to cling on to an arm.
And I don’t recall any other Royal woman introducing their husband and gazing adoringly at him .
I also don’t recall Camilla, Catherine or Sophie manoeuvring people around so that they are centre stage ? Or elbowing their husband aside .

So many people confuse criticism with hate.

It's a bit sad, really. I think all celebrities/famous people come in for criticism. Plus the more you chase celebrity, like they do, the more criticism it will attract. C'est la vie.
