I suppose so @FenellaFeldman , if that lens was completely distorted!
However in Meghans defence she hasn't mentioned prisims at all , only 'her' lens.

I see. I wouldn't want to misquote her.

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 17:05

And it should be noted seeing things through her lens is personal, no other person would be able to see it the same way.

I have a plastic lens in one eye. Would that make a difference ?

Do you have the eye sparkle @smilesy ? I never knew this upside of (very early) cataract surgery until I had it done and someone pointed it out afterwards.

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 17:12

And it goes without saying, whereas the correct lens makes things clearer and the wrong one distorts , neither effect whether something is true or not.

I do. I had early cataract surgery due to a condition called Fuchs (I kid you not) 😆

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 17:19

@smilesy not normally 🤣 , however being serious the old lenses used did course halo effects particularly at night, now they sometimes don't even bother with a replacement lens! , they make a small incision and remove the cloudy lens then it heals .
Funny enough I was born with cataracts which makes me very sensitive to light but they won't do anything to remove them unless they grow!! Bummer.

To get back on topic, has it been confirmed that they flew to Vancouver privately?

If so, who paid? And why fly privately on a short route with frequent flights? Even as a working royal, Harry often flew commercial.

And what would Travalyst say?

Yes the light sensitivity is annoying and I still suffer from it. You don’t really want to have cataract surgery unless you have to. The anaesthetic isn’t fun 🤪

eta it gives me a good excuse to wear cool sunglasses though 😆

Every report I have read says they travelled by private jet .
No idea who is paying .

I can't see them paying out of their own budget, so I suspect Invictus is paying.

I wonder if Meghan is insisting on this for reasons of 'prestige'? As I said above, Harry often travelled commercial when on royal duties and didn't seem to have an issue with it.

Not sure if they flew privately or not but I don’t think any of the commercial outfits fly Santa Barbara - Vancouver direct.

To fly scheduled commercial between the two might involve a detour (land or air) to route via somewhere like LAX…

Wouldn't Invictus have paid for travel, hotel and clothes? That's the rumour, I think. It would have done their reputation so much good to fly commercial, pay for modest rooms for themselves and their security, and for Meghan to bring existing outfits, one a day.

No, not Santa Barbara. I didn't even know there was an airport there.

But there are plenty of flights to Vancouver from LA which is only an hour and a half from Montecito. I wouldn't call that a 'detour'.

Invictus will pay for travel and accommodation, which would be fair enough within reason.

But why should they pay for the clothing budget of the wife of the founding patron? She doesn't have any role at the games.

Surely not! To go via private jet would be extremely tone deaf even by H's abysmal tone deaf standards..

Adamante · 09/02/2025 17:41

They’re a pair of chumps. We know this. One thing I would say though, is I think Meghan could go a long way to making herself more likeable if she turned up at these events in Invictus branded clothing and got stuck in. Ignored the camera, and really showed genuine enthusiasm for the events themselves. Harry used to, now he’s in a suit. Why is she getting changed into four outfits in one day? It’s ridiculous and the impression is of a spoilt, silly, out of touch woman using a great endeavour such as Invictus for her own personal showcase. It’s really quite nauseating,

There always seem to be attempts to suggest that anyone at all critical of the Sussexes is "hating" and putting them on the same level as war criminals and it simply isn't true. I watch them with a kind of bemused amusement waiting for the next strange, avoidable misstep and if they get something right, happy to say so.

The IG was something Harry got right for a long time and it's sad that it now seems to be turning into a vehicle for self promotion, largely it appears by Meghan.

I think if Kate turned up to eg Centrepoint and indulged in "impromptu" (!!) gushing introductions and repeated cringey PDAs while clutching William like the last lifebelt on the Titanic, much would be said by many and none of it good.

I’m not Meghan, but if I was I would say that Harry was the door.

They would be wise to pay for themselves. Invictus is a charity. They are rich. The veterans pay for themselves.
