Indeed. Although she accidentally put the baby in the handbag, but we've all made mistakes.

Indeed. Miss Prism was hiding the baby. The baby was black. Miss Prism was racist. But Meghan's defining quality is clemency. She will forgive Miss Prism.

Of course. Saints do walk amongst us 😇

I’m not lecturing. I’m expressing my opinion which is different to the majority, I am entitled to do that on a public discussion board.

It’s the usual RF supporters who are resorting to sneering “school maam” and “prism” comments and posting silly memes which doesn’t say much for the strength of their arguments.

Apparently, another reason why my opinion is wrong, or I am not allowed to express it, is because one of your number has a qualification in medieval history! 😆
At least that’s a refreshingly new approach ! 😄

You're making the mistake of assuming all who criticise H&M's behaviour are supporters of the Royal Family.

Ohpleeeease · 09/02/2025 16:38

While we’re on matters theatrical, I can’t help thinking of dear old Arthur Lowe whose late career suffered considerably due to him insisting that there was a part for his wife Joan Cooper in any play he was offered. It was believed she put undue pressure on him to secure parts for her. However he did adore her so made this sacrifice willingly.

Aw, that's actually quite sweet.

Sense of humour failure

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 16:40

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, however coming onto a thread and spreading largely conspiracy theories about how we all are brainwashed by the awful British media and the rf isn't going to warrant much respect.
Now that the American press is critical as are its people how can this excuse still stand?

And as for the patronising comments about how we cannot form our own opinions using our eyes and ears !
What would you expect.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the usual RF supporters" but posters have responded to your points with arguments which don't involve memes or jokes, but you seem to have ignored them.

And nobody is saying you're not 'allowed' to make comments. It was you who tried to tell posters what they should or should not be posting about.

Actually I think a degree in medieval history is a good starting point for insight into some of the current travails, the jealous younger son is a feature.

This is a sort of a Devil's Brood/Martha Stewart mashup, currently.

That poster was countering your rather patronising assertion that we all get our information/draw our conclusions from the Murdoch/tabloid press. Rather than using our own faculties and skills to analyse the raw data.

So, do you accept that she has had (and may well continue to have) political influence that should be scrutinised, as all those who wield political influence should be?

I'll throw the trip to Colombia into the mix. What was that for?

FenellaFeldman · 09/02/2025 16:43

@Iwasexpectingitfrankly732 you clearly misunderstood.
You told us that we couldn't detect bias. We couldn't work out what was happening.
We can.
Not one person on here has said that you have no right to an opinion, or cannot express it.

I agree!
I was making a point about understanding bias, but it seems that poster cannot understand the point made. No matter.

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 16:45

You have the right to express your opinions, you do not have the right to expect others to agree with them .

Absolutely this. Nor do you have the right to tell posters they cannot respond with humour.

I get you @FenellaFeldman , it was clear to me.

Perhaps Charles needs to throw himself at Harry ala Edward I, tearing out his (remaining) hair in fury. It would put slights around sausages into perspective!

And I'm being pedantic but ... at its most basic level a prism is used to concave light or vision, so in a optical sense bend the person's vision so they can see straight ( this is very much a dumbed down version)
If a person with normal vision looks through one it would have the opposite effect!
However this doesn't not align with people watching live footage of an advent and not seeing the truth!
Prisims are also used to project pretty rainbow lights , this is more likely the use that would benefit h and m .

Puzzledandpissedoff · 09/02/2025 17:00

Who wants the Sussexes to return to the UK?

A hell of a lot of Americans I meet for a start, @FenellaFeldman Wink
All too often I'm asked "Can't you take them home with you?" and reply that one of them's yours anyway and we don't want the other one back

FenellaFeldman · 09/02/2025 17:01

Thank you, Jeff. So - credit where it's due - when Meghan talks about seeing things through a particular lens, she's actually correct with her metaphor?

Oh, don't get me started on sausages, Uricorn. I could hardly finish that chapter of Spare. It was like the death of Little Nell 😭

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 17:03

I suppose so @FenellaFeldman , if that lens was completely distorted!
However in Meghans defence she hasn't mentioned prisims at all , only 'her' lens.
