@jeffgoldblum post above your smell the fart pic

Thedom · 09/02/2025 13:46

The Daily Mail is being quite positive about them at Invictus, it's only when you read the thousands of comments you realise how negatively they are perceived.

sleetysnowflakes · 09/02/2025 13:32

Her intro speech is a bit like the auction of promise episode on motherland.

I don’t think those who have benefited from the IG really give a hoot how his speech sounded tbh
They are probably grateful that someone gives a stuff about them

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 13:48

Let what go?
And personally I don't want them back in the U.K. , they can stay right where they are.
And obviously people are going to comment on new developments!

Lampzade · 09/02/2025 13:43

Some of you need to take advice from Elsa from ‘Frozen’ and Let it go ffs
The Sussexes are not going to come back with their tails between their legs.
The IG is a success and will continue to be a success

Describe what you think people need to let go of.

No-one wants the Sussexes back, tails between their legs or otherwise!

The IG is an independent charity, its success is irrelevant in terms of the Sussexes.

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 13:49

Oh sorry @FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger ! I was having trouble getting the picture to post and didn't notice! 😳

No worries @Ohpleeeease , great minds and all that! 🤣

Also stating the bleedin’ obvious! 🤣

I don't understand why you think people want the Sussexes back ?

NormaMajors1992coat · 09/02/2025 14:03

The Sussexes are not going to come back with their tails between their legs.

This is quite obvious - for them to have their tails between their legs, they would have to appreciate how badly they are fucking up and they clearly have no realisation.

It seems their awareness of their behaviour and how it's perceived measures somewhat lower than a dog's 🐶

Sound the klaxon! Clarkson and Morgan have been invoked! We are all doomed! Doomed, I tell ya!!

Maybe someone didn't get the memo that shaming pretty well educated, liberal women holding (how dare they!) opinions on objective facts/objectively observable behaviour, with the suggestion they are aligned to the right, is a bit 2023.

And Murdoch is a republican, and the Murdoch press is as much favorable to Harry and Meghan as it is negative, from my reading. They also have the Mirror (whom they have sued) and the Express giving them regular, positive coverage. Alongside the numerous US tabloids that give over pages of fluff pieces to them week after week, M&H are not short of positive, global press.

This is exactly the response I expected.

Word perfect in fact.

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 09/02/2025 14:13

Of course it was.

I think all the Disney analogies and allusions are where Meghan has gone wrong. Being a real life Royal is nothing like the fairytale version

veraswaistcoat · 09/02/2025 14:29

However let's get back to Invictus and the unravelling mess there.

I agree they won't care because Meghan and her 'speech' are irrelevant to the games.

And saying "They are probably grateful that someone gives a stuff about them" is patronising and makes the competitors sound a bit desperate. Especially as Meghan's speech barely referred to them and was all about her and the man she refers to only as 'my husband'.

Ohpleeeease · 09/02/2025 14:35

I’m not sure Meghan gives a stuff about them. There’s no evidence of anything she does in support of the IG in her own right.

LaMarschallin · 09/02/2025 14:39

IcedPurple

was all about her and the man she refers to only as 'my husband'.

Although she did reassuringly point out that he's the father of their very sweet children.
I remember Catherine Zeta Jones mentioning Michael Douglas's paternal status to their children in a song and dance tribute to him.
Wouldn't have thought either Meghan or CZJ needed to do that.
At least Meghan wasn't high kicking in a gold topper at the time.

True 😱

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 14:47

So @Iwasexpectingitfrankly732 are you saying that Murdock , Clarkson and Morgan are to blame for what Harry and Meghan say or do?
Because most of us are critiquing the actions and words from the couple, I don't need other sources to form an opinion.

I can’t speak for all Veterans however the ones we know feel that H and M’s involvement detracts from the cause .

Not sure if 'patronising' or 'infuriating' is the most appropriate word here, given you are referring to injured veterans.

Iwasexpectingitfrankly732 · 09/02/2025 13:23

I think that’s a good point about the media.

Given Harry’s recent court cases, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that the tabloids and the rest of the Murdoch press, and newspapers edited by former Murdoch men, will not be going out of their way to portray Meghan in a positive light.

And like it or not, I believe that there are many “friends of” certain establishment figures who are continuing to influence the narrative, because it distracts from other issues.

Therefore, I think we have to be very clear and objective about the nature of the prism through which we observe all of these news stories.

Also, despite the fact that I don’t particularly care for everything that Meghan does, or the way she goes about certain things, I don’t like the way it’s become a global sport to pick on her. It doesn’t feel right to me.

And frankly any time one’s opinion aligns with that of Clarkson or Morgan; I think its fair enough to question it and ask why?

Therefore, I think we have to be very clear and objective about the nature of the prism through which we observe all of these news stories.

As others have said I form my own opinions on communications directly from the horses mouth - no prism involved or required.

jeffgoldblum · 09/02/2025 14:54

And it should be pointed out that no media has said anything about the wheelchair stunt !
Only posters here ( or possibly other forms?)
Has criticised Meghan for this , so no prism for that obviously.
