Hard agree. I've written before on these threads about the extraordinary evolution (well, devolution, really) of the Sussex Brand from quasi Royal philanthropists to influencers. It's extraordinary to me because of the speed at which it happened - about 5 years.
But, yes, Meghan is now an influencer, which means that H&M are no longer Royals but a commercial enterprise. And since the commercial enterprise has thus far failed to produce any content of note, they themselves are the product, and Insta is their shop window.
This means that Meghan's Insta has to be truly excellent. But, as I've pointed out before, as with everything Meghan does on social media, her Insta activity always seems to be about 5 or 6 years behind the current zeitgeist (I've speculated elsewhere that this could be due to her age, or to the quality of her advisers).
Take the content of the last few days. The post with the timbits and cookies - just shoddy, would have looked fine in 2015 but not 2025. The Invictus pics - lovely but they vanished almost as soon as they'd been posted, I presume because the athletes and families pictured hadn't had their permission sought before they were posted, and they didn't want to be on Meghan's Insta.
So, yes, she needs to focus on doing Insta well. I've heard that ARO's on hiatus (languishing in the 'too difficult' bucket) but as and when it revives, she'll need a proper, organic Insta presence.
This is before we even get onto the thorny question of what role Harry will play in this commercial enterprise. Meghan needs him for content, because her brand value on its own is currently in negative figures. But Harry comes from a world where media attention is either grudgingly tolerated or avoided: he famously hates the press. Will he be willing to walk red carpets at product launch events and appear in Insta reels and vids? Will he perform well when he does? Because Meghan needs him to.
It's an invidious position they're in, brand and career wise. I'm glad I'm not advising them. That ticket's a hospital pass if ever I saw one.
