With this new authentic Insta post where Meghan positions herself as a go between in securing some signed merchandise I think there's still plenty to discuss.
This is a new image. No make up. Carefully edited insta. New lips. Is this influencer territory? Mention of " my husband and l " Echoes of the Queen ?

William has spoken publicly about Diana, along with his Uncle Charles, about the Bashir interview, in the wake of revelations about how Bashir procured that interview - through commissioning forged documents to make her think her security team was talking to the press about her. He asked that it never be shown again. A request ignored by Harry, who used it in his Netflix docusoap.

Isn't that awful 😲

Thanks everyone, no flounce intended, will stick around for everyone else’s excellent posts.

I have thoughts.

Both William and Harry have tried to create a bond between “Granny Diana” and their own children. I’ve been that grandchild and it can’t be done I’m afraid. Any show of affection for her will be to please their parents but they won’t be capable of having an emotional attachment of their own.

I’ve always thought C goes along with it for W’s sake, maybe that’s how he deals with his loss. I find it a bit mawkish but theirs was a traumatic loss so I suppose whatever works for them.

I know what you mean, but I think W&C perhaps needed to talk about her to the children because she was so well known and had such a tragic end. Perhaps more importantly though, because Harry was co-opting and monetising her menory so much. Perhaps just to take a little bit of ownership of her menory back.

I feel that but for the seeds of doubt about people close to her, basically lies, introduced by Bashir, Diana would have been less paranoid and better protected and yes, I question Harry's use of this.

I’m sure both William and Harry are still dealing with the trauma of losing their mother the way they did.

You can see it in the completely out of proportion response from Harry to trying to ‘save’ Meghan - from the press, from the Firm, from the paps.

William seems to have dealt with that aspect better - maybe through therapy. But I suspect that Kate’s cancer diagnosis brought up a lot of old wounds for him imagining his own children losing their mother too. I know people have criticized him completely dropping out of view last year and saying he shouldn’t have taken the year off.

It was indicated by sources for the King that Charles was completely supportive of how Kate and William were dealing with the issue though so behind closed doors there was probably a lot of worry and stress for Charles knowing what William was potentially facing/fearing.

I think that had a lot to do with it. William faced losing his father, and stepping up to the most important role in his life. At the same time he must have been terrified of losing his wife, and thinking of their young children. What an awful situation. Yet there were silly and insensitive people criticising his "lack of work".

She would have. She wouldn't have got rid of the official palace protection, which may have saved her life.

Why is he visiting anything at all? In what capacity? He's not a working Royal? Why should people be excited / honoured to see him?

MissRoseDurward · 15/02/2025 18:01

I know people have criticized him completely dropping out of view last year and saying he shouldn’t have taken the year off.

But he didn't. He reduced his schedule and I expect he tried not to be away from home for extended periods, but he didn't take the year off or completely drop out of sight. I remember a trip to the Scilly Islands, for example, and he was in Normandy for the D-Day commemorations. He carried out various football related engagements. He attended a Taylor Swift concert with George and Charlotte. Those are just the things I remember. And a quick Google says he was in Cape Town for the Earthshot Awards. I expect he did many other things that weren't so widely reported.

MissFenellaPrism · 15/02/2025 18:07

@MissRoseDurward plus he was still doing the visits to the homeless centres.

Because it's very important to him, and his wife to be seen as Royals and to have this quasi royal life. It's meat and drink to them.

jeffgoldblum · 15/02/2025 18:17

Sorry too angry to type coherent thoughts!
I will say , we have absolutely no idea what Harry is telling or promising these countries or people!
At this rate he could cause a very serious diplomatic incident that could involve the U.K. , Canada and even possibly the US !

JSMill · 15/02/2025 18:19

I think it must have been horrible having lost his own mother to think that his dcs could lose their own dm. Plus he might have wondered if he could carry out the role of king without her support. Plus his father was also ill.

NotaRealHousewife · 15/02/2025 18:20

He had fallen out with his brother and his father and wife were both ill, a lonely place to be really

jeffgoldblum · 15/02/2025 18:20

Canada are getting the blame for Musa not getting his visa!
He's saying they were invited to invictus!
But as far as I can tell , Harry invited them not Canada!
Harry has no position to invite other countries leaders to another country!

I imagine he wanted to spend every moment he could with her too, in case she didn't make it.

veraswaistcoat · 15/02/2025 18:24

It would have been the usual typical junket. I was at an event a short while ago and there was a Nigerian delegation there of a massive proportion in relation to everyone else. I can't explain it in any more detail due to the security nature of it. They were all gadding about in uniforms. Appearance and a grand spectacle are very important to many of these former colonial countries.

Of course.
All the while worried what news he was going to get about his father, and the obvious change that would make in his life.

I've no idea why Musa was refused a visa, Jeff - Canada's decision is rightly private - but a quick google suggests he's very far from a savoury individual, so if it was Harry who invited him maybe he should have considered whether the guy would be acceptable to the host nation

Then again it may not be Harry's fault this time; for all we know Musa may have shoved his way into the Nigeria visit and developed some weird idea that this entitled him to attend Invictus

jeffgoldblum · 15/02/2025 18:59

You could be right @Puzzledandpissedoff but I'm sure it was the Nigerian military who invited Harry and Meghan on their visit and there were many pictures of musa shaking hands with Harry! 🤷‍♀️ , he also hob knobbed with many unsavoury people while there!
I'm sorry to say but in this I trust Harry's judgement as much as I would andrews when someone is flattering his ego to get what they want!
This is why the U.K. must distance themselves from all these faux royal tours , it's a disaster waiting to happen.

Exactly this, and this is why Harry 'bear of little brain' but a big ego is such a liability.

I can't imagine it would occur to him that while he's out spreading largesse and treating Invictus like his own personal tea party that he's not actually in charge of who Canada admits into their country and he could be putting them into an embarrassing situation.

Given that he's likely received special treatment for his own visa in the US, no doubt he believes that rules don't apply to "important" people like himself, or indeed Musa.

@jeffgoldblum - I agree - Clowns and Minefields passim . I think when they went to Nigeria The British Envoy put out a statement saying they were visiting in a private capacity & would not be representing the work of the British Government.

"This is why the U.K. must distance themselves from all these faux royal tours , it's a disaster waiting to happen." I agree with this wholeheartedly.

jeffgoldblum · 15/02/2025 19:45

Back at you @IAmATorturedPoet 👍

jeffgoldblum · 15/02/2025 19:48

I'm actually wondering what will happen next! @BasiliskStare , he's apparently going to Ghana next!
Who knows if there will be or was any fallout from the Columbia vist?
The media who would reveal the truth were kept out by h and m !
