With this new authentic Insta post where Meghan positions herself as a go between in securing some signed merchandise I think there's still plenty to discuss.
This is a new image. No make up. Carefully edited insta. New lips. Is this influencer territory? Mention of " my husband and l " Echoes of the Queen ?

It’s so sad that the actual Games and competitors aren’t receiving the publicity they deserve.,

Thedom · 13/02/2025 08:28

Oh my, Meghan needs to go back to Influencer school for a refresher, or at least wait until her content consultant shows up for work. , M apparently used to do this stuff for her blog, she should know her shit.

I guess she did make an effort to 'elevate the ordinary' with the metal bucket of apricots, it's just so basic despite an effort to present it attractively, another example of how her show is going to be fake and nothing but smoke and mirrors, she does not have the creativity (or interest) to do it herself or to keep up the facade.

Hmm , wonder if she would have preferred Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet on the t shirts ?

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 13/02/2025 08:48

Thise are the shirts given to Harry by the Nigerian team, aren't they? I wonder if Meghan also went and met up with her people from "home'? You'd have thought she's have had that on her Insta if she had.

Have to say, those nutty/chocolate bear feet look bloody awesome!

Uricon2 · 13/02/2025 09:36

Yes, shedloads of apricots, presumably from that nation well known for their immense February apricot harvest, Canada.

So after attending an event where she made everything about her, left early to fly back on a private plane, she now displays the rather tacky wares she has bagged for her children. Nothing about the athletes, nothing about the event itself or the people there, just herself and Harry and the invisible sprogs again. It's so crass.

Are those claws next to the Invictus card?

The Lilibet t-shirt isn't even displayed particularly well.

And if you have soft fruit piled up like those apricots, won't the ones at the bottom end up bruised?

I really wish I could see into the future and see how the children turn out. But I suppose for them it would be better if they choose to live their lives in private and we never hear of them.

StrawberryWasp · 13/02/2025 10:40

Every time I see the name Lilibet it's a reminder of their crass behaviour in using such a personal pet name at the same time as publicly criticising the family and institution she gave her life to and hurting her.

It was so staggeringly thoughtless.

They'd be much better off calling her Lili as they have really saddled her with baggage every time Lilibet is used.

🤣

Uricon2 · 13/02/2025 11:01

Lilibet absolutely grinds my gears with annoyance. I feel sorry for the innocent girl saddled with it but it's a lasting reminder of the shameless hijacking of a personal nickname at a time when they had caused great stress for the very elderly owner of said nickname.

Of all the things they have done, that was the thing I found most crass and shocking.

I thought that Lili was going to be known as Lili and not Lilibet. Seems to be the other way round 🤔

bratsummer · 13/02/2025 12:37

Completely agree on the name. And it’s so jarring seeing it on an Instagram story for millions to see and monetisation and promoting a personal brand when it was a nickname used in private by people who kept their private life private and saw their public images as their roles and not personal celebrities.
(edited because I posted by accident before finished)

JSMill · 13/02/2025 14:20

I cannot see those last two Instagram posts. Not that I want to. Is it because I don't follow her or is something wrong with my Instagram app?

MissRoseDurward · 13/02/2025 14:20

I remember the outrage among my friends and acquaintances when it was announced. 'It's an insult' was the general opinion. Crass describes it exactly.

And the poor child is stuck with it. People of her own generation might not know the significance of the name, but wherever she goes in the English speaking world, there's likely to be someone who will make the connection, and out her.

She mostly posts in her stories so I don't think people can see those posts if they don't follow her

Weepixie · 13/02/2025 14:36

The late queen was and always will be the only ever Lilibet.

Thedom · 13/02/2025 14:42

Almost 80,000 comments on the Netflix trailer, of which it appears 79,.900 are negative, with the comments still rolling in day by day.

Maybe Netflix are happy with that level of engagement despite it being overwhelmingly negative and critical of her and the show.

I think if the show has been updated with footage from the fires, as has been rumoured, it will take that criticism to a whole other level.

JSMill · 13/02/2025 14:42

@MrsLeonFarrell thanks for the explanation. I'm still figuring out Instagram, which I know makes me sound about 100!

I only worked it out recently, I'm 99!!

I think you're right. They've stopped being even vaguely entertaining now that they've pretty much run out of shit to sell and lies to tell, and it's obvious that the US isn't impressed with them and they're yesterday's news. They're just tedious now and their dim-witted, culturally vacuous pretensions are so very, very dull.

I wonder what the tipping point was - all the fakery at the LA fire sites? That plus the boring trailer for mint leafery and the weird Polo thing? It's all about as riveting as a school syllabus for intersectional expressions of civic duties in the postmodern space.

Edited

Love it "Shit to sell and Lies to tell" That surely has to be the title of their next book.

BemusedAmerican · 13/02/2025 17:02

The fire visits were the final straw for me.

BasiliskStare · 13/02/2025 17:13

@Thedom - To be fair I think you missed on that photo putting the snacks on. a nice wooden chopping board.

So if MrsLeonFarrell is 99 and JSMill is 100 - I am 101. Evidence my question below.

I am not proud of myself , but I know myself too well ( I have a level of self awareness 😊) & I will probably watch the first Love Meghan episode so however they measure viewing figures I will be one - if they can/do measure the figures. But what matters to them financially ? Is it just viewing figures no matter what , or is there some direct feedback thing to Netflix to say if people liked it or thought crap and do they care if people keep watching , or do they take notice of reviews etc. I reckon I'll watch one and then get bored and if there is a tone deaf edit about M at the fires I will turn it off. I've no idea what their business model is . Some advertising I assume but then not all subscriptions have this - or high viewing figures / good reviews assuming that will lead to subscriptions.
