With this new authentic Insta post where Meghan positions herself as a go between in securing some signed merchandise I think there's still plenty to discuss.
This is a new image. No make up. Carefully edited insta. New lips. Is this influencer territory? Mention of " my husband and l " Echoes of the Queen ?

They are supposedly off to tour Ghana next… Why?! Someone explain!

jeffgoldblum · 15/02/2025 19:50

🤷‍♀️ @MaturingCheeseball , it's certainly an eclectic list of countries he's visiting!

jeffgoldblum · 15/02/2025 19:52

Unless ... and pardon my speculation... he's deliberately choosing countries who are predominantly poc , for some reason of his own musings!

Mylovelygreendress · 15/02/2025 19:55

Ghana has a lot of problems - poverty , political tensions etc plus FGM is common .
Why on earth are H and M planning to visit ?

Anything for publicity.

BasiliskStare · 15/02/2025 20:06

@Mylovelygreendress and others - I reckon they would go any they were invited if they can make look like a royal tour.

I just looked at Eugenie's insta and she does the kids but no faces thing.

Her insta comes across as so genuine though.

You really get the feel of a lovely relationship with her mum, relaxed days out. Nothing staged just sharing her life.

Everything with M feels so staged it's impossible to warm to her.

More importantly who is paying for it?!

MissFenellaPrism · 15/02/2025 20:11

Oh my god, he's just a useful idiot, isn't he?

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 15/02/2025 20:13

He obviously doesn't trust that people will work out the connection between his offspring and Diana (or even remember much about her)

You have to be, what, forty, certainly heading that way to remember much about Diana in her lifetime, probably 50+ to really remember her life. I've just asked a minibus of late teens to name adults that have died prematurely in sad circumstances - no one mentioned Diana, everyone knew Kobe Bryant.

He isn't the only person to lose a parent, whilst it is tragic for him personally it isn't really relevant in a wider context.

Harry picks places like this because of the Commonwealth connections . He is USING the UK and the RF to give himself some status when there. Regardless of these countries independences there are still many links to the RF and the monarch. The new leaders in these countries fight hard to maintain their positions from rivals and love the ceremony and status that comes with events where they can display this. Harry feels comfortable pretending he is still a valuable member of the RF.

I'm old enough to have been an adult when John Lennon was killed. There is a legacy there that will probably remain, because the music will always be played. I'm roughly the same age as Diana but don't think that forthcoming generations will see her in the same way, because they have other things, however tragic and important was the death at the time.

NotaRealHousewife · 15/02/2025 20:38

Why is he visiting? On what basis?

He just can't let go of his royal status

It’s all a bit desperate isn’t it.

I think he and M use these quasi royal tours to bolster their royal connections - because that is what they are trading off . I could understand going to countries where they are trying to encourage participation in the IG but that could be done in a relatively low key way. I think Harry hasn't realised he essentially is a private citizen now & I am not sure M cares as long she is feted like a royal. It is the nearest they can get to reminding people Harry is a member of the royal family - and by marriage M. But this is royal family with a small r and small f. They don't represent the WRF or the Government in any way.

Apparently ( according to DM article I posted above ) a member of the WRF is due to visit Ghana this year ( not Charles or William they say) I wonder with issues of FGM it may be Sophie.

MissFenellaPrism · 15/02/2025 21:49

They're just desperate to be acknowledged as royalty. Living royal lives, the tours, the military inspections, people in hospital beds, schools, etc.
People waving, curtseying, cheering... that's their thing. I've no idea why people who claim to be Republicans support them.

ERthree · 15/02/2025 21:52

JSMill · 15/02/2025 18:22

Yes that's a very good point.

Not only was he coping with the illness of his wife and father he had just lost his Grandmother and in doing so moved one step closer to "the big job" which must surely be daunting. He knows that in becomes King his family life will never be the same again and that must really have played on his mind last year, if, god forbid both Charles and Catherine had died William would have been taking on the role of King just when his poor children would have needed him the most. The poor man must have been living on his nerves and along with that he had to cope with his brother taking to the worlds media to not only stick the knife in but bloody twist it as well/

I agree. I think Diana means very little to younger generations. She was very much of her time.

To me, the 'royal' tours just underline how unroyal they are. These 'tours' just seem so cheap and amateurish compared to a genuine royal tour put together at the highest official level. And I think Harry knows that, yet he keeps coming back for more. They are both really desperate for the prestige and status they dumped 5 years ago. If they had stayed on, they'd be playing a senior role now and doing lots of international tours. Yet here they are scraping for an invitation anywhere they can get it.

MissFenellaPrism · 15/02/2025 17:05

It's baffling, isn't it? When my boy was 5 he just talked about Bob the Builder and dinosaurs.

Quite the topic should not have been brought up! He should know nothing if war beyond "toy soldiers".

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/02/2025 21:59

jeffgoldblum · 15/02/2025 18:59

You could be right @Puzzledandpissedoff but I'm sure it was the Nigerian military who invited Harry and Meghan on their visit and there were many pictures of musa shaking hands with Harry! 🤷‍♀️ , he also hob knobbed with many unsavoury people while there!
I'm sorry to say but in this I trust Harry's judgement as much as I would andrews when someone is flattering his ego to get what they want!
This is why the U.K. must distance themselves from all these faux royal tours , it's a disaster waiting to happen.

There's only one problem with there, Jeff: I'm not sure Harry actually has any judgement to trust (or not) Confused

And I hadn't realised - though should have done - that Musa really was one of those shoving himself to the front in Nigeria
