With this new authentic Insta post where Meghan positions herself as a go between in securing some signed merchandise I think there's still plenty to discuss.
This is a new image. No make up. Carefully edited insta. New lips. Is this influencer territory? Mention of " my husband and l " Echoes of the Queen ?

Show jumpers can compete well into middle age at high level (look up Nick Skelton)

Can I look up Charlotte Dujardin too?

Yes, please do, since you always ask for links rather than looking things up for yourself.

Serenster · 11/02/2025 22:17

Are these little heard ofs considered 'major events' for someone pushing mid forties?

Yes. As others have said, top flight equestrians can have long careers. Eventer Mark Todd, who won 5 Olympic gold medals, 2 of them individual golds, won his last at London 2012 when he was in his mid-50s. And his last Badminton win was in 2011.

Baital · 11/02/2025 22:27

Yes, those events are top level, the most demanding for individuals (rather than those competing as part of a national team).

Bit of an unnecessary comment when all
posters are doing is answering your queries to whether it’s normal for equestrians to carry on competing when older 🤷‍♀️

elessar · 12/02/2025 05:08

Already been said, but yes Zara is still competing at the top level of the sport.

Badminton, Burghley and Lexington are all what would be called five star events - for those not familiar, that's the equivalent of a grand slam in tennis. They're a big deal.

She's much lower profile in the sport than she used to be, she no longer features on the British team which is perhaps why some posters think she's faded into obscurity, but she's still got a very credible career at the top level of the sport. I suspect that since having children her priorities have changed slightly and she might have scaled back her string of horses.

I post links backing my points.

I ask for links when others don't 🙂

And yes, bluewanda a vile woman indeed yet held up as a role model for decades 😡

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 12/02/2025 10:04

Well @CathyorClaire , about 2 minutes of googling would have answered your own question, and there would be no need for you to go on an wholly irrelevant Charlotte Dujardin squirrel chase, would there?

CathyorClaire · 12/02/2025 10:28

Feel free to scroll past any irrelevance 🙂

But it seemed quite unnecessarily aggressive and rude when Todger was simply answering a question. If you have a problem with horses in sport, that's a totally different discussion.

It's one of my pet hates on MN! When people pick on a complete side-issue in a post instead of concentrating on the point under discussion. Not saying there aren't valid points if you're anti-horse-sports, but this isn't the time or the place.

CathyorClaire · 12/02/2025 10:39

Personally I quite like it when discussions meander but takes all sorts I guess.

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 12/02/2025 10:43

There's meandering and then there's boarding a jet to a different continent.

CathyorClaire · 12/02/2025 10:45

As I said, feel free to scroll past 🙂

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 12/02/2025 10:47

Don't worry, I will from now on, just don't quote parts of my posts answering your questions you couldn't be bothered to look up by way of some kind of gotcha.

CathyorClaire · 12/02/2025 10:50

Excellent.

And I'll continue to post as I please within guidelines so we'll both be happy 🙂

Is it that old joke " Hay Meghan why the long face?"

I have neigh idea but the poster should respect the thread and post in good faith by sticking to the topic.

veraswaistcoat · 12/02/2025 11:26

I agree so why on Earth has Meghan left Canada? Was she flogging a dead horse there? Or was she getting off her high horse?

Vile woman. Speaking of people who abuse their horses I always remember this photo of Harry stabbing his polo horse with his spurs. Poor horse 😭

She realised she was a one trick pony?

veraswaistcoat · 12/02/2025 11:42

If I were there wild horses wouldn't drag me away from that snow and you really should never look a gift horse in the mouth. She really is though a Trojan horse for Harry. She jumped right on board with his hobby horse of " poor me" but has realised she is beating a dead horse. He has created a horse opera out of it all and while he relished all the horseplay he has realised that a nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse 🤷‍♀️
