Kensington Palace have released a photo of the Princess of Wales photographed by her youngest son, Prince Louis. It is to mark World Cancer Day, which is tomorrow.

How cute!

I was wondering why pictures had been disabled, thought there was something up with my settings or something.

You don’t want to know, it’s too horrible. I’m so glad I didn’t venture on MN after 11 last night 😭

I seriously do not understand how any normal person gets kicks from posting revolting things about a person who is suffering from cancer and its aftermath and all its ramifications. I do know their purpose though.
It's a bit like nature - as usual there are the little ones who bob along like the little suckers on the sides of sharks. I think they are called remoras. They swallow the scraps dropped out of the sharks' mouths. They even consume the faeces of the host.
It's a lovely little pic.
Do we go on to slag off the bell ringers when they stop treatment ? Are these people not taking account of others? I believe you have to be a member of that unwelcome club to understand.

So it's okay to get kicks from posting revolting things about a person if they don't have about illness? You see to stay quiet when that happens on this board.

What did the monarchy ever do for us?

Well, it's all a lottery. It never ceases to amaze me that we had quite a number of actual effective rulers there because of birth who could lead in battle, like a lot of the early Edwards or Henry V, or navigate a way to something people would accept after a beheading and a (so called Commonwealth, talk to the Diggers and the Levellers about that period) like Charles II. Elizabeth I is in there too, in a big way.

I understand Republicanism, but I actually don't think we'd be much better off with it. The RF are no better than any of us, undoubtedly worse in some cases, but at their best they're a bit of a national focus and representation.

I'd vote for little Louis to look at over Trump, anytime.

mainecooncatonahottinroof · 03/02/2025 22:06

I don't understand the mentality.

I can't stand Trump, so I avoid everything to do with him. I certainly wouldn't be hanging out on threads discussing him. I would sooner pretend that he doesn't exist.

So hanging out on the Royal Family forum to take pops at members of the RF just seems foreign to me?

Taking pops at a photo taken by a 6 year old is a new low.

CeceliaImrie · 03/02/2025 22:09

It like she's trying to be kooky and fun but failing. She's so straight laced it doesn't ring natural.

I don't think she is as straight-laced as she comes across.

vile practises
vile practices

@mainecooncatonahottinroof I'd love to know the truth.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 03/02/2025 22:35

The close up is scary like the Blair witch project vibes

I'm seeing one, in the wild! I've always wondered who these people are who can just close their eyes and ears to awful things.

I can't stand Trump, so I make sure I read as much as I can about him to know just how awful he is so I know how to counter him and his enablers and supporters. I just cannot wrap my head around how, when they know terrible things are happening, people put their heads in the sand and pretend they're not. How do you sleep at night?

And nobody is taking a pop at a 6yo's photo. He didn't choose to upload it to the worldwide web. Of alllllll the photos (and no photos!) that were possible, people are taking a pop at the choice whichever adult made to use this one. If you didn't know it had been taken by PL, it would be utterly unremarkable. Seriously, the bleak and empty woods would have been meaningful enough, if you're into inspirational stuff.

She used to laugh her head off with Harry... I think she has a sense of humour, but she is very composed in public!

Yes, was coming on to post am I the only one who thinks it looks like an advance publicity photo for a horror movie?

crumblingschools · 03/02/2025 23:01

Not quite Christ the Redeemer then @Pallisers

Pallisers · 03/02/2025 23:03

No, more like children of the corn :)

Areolaborealis · 03/02/2025 23:14

I was getting Michael Jackson's Earth Song!

"aa, ahhhhh, aa aa aagh..."

Yes it reminded me of that too. Although obviously Catherine is not a child abuser

Spectre8 · 03/02/2025 23:26

The RF said they wanted to modernise 😆

@IcedPurple I'm sure they'll know to run it past you next time.

🤣🤣🤣

BemusedAmerican · 03/02/2025 23:55

Just caught up with this thread. Wow! Louis shows a creative side and MN readers are stunned.

My impression is that Catherine is doing a imitation of the King of the World scene from "Titanic" while balancing on a log.

Both my parents, two aunts, 2 uncle's, and 6 cats died from cancer. Two relatives had no health insurance. A rich relative used to go to their appointments and pay cash to cover them. The NHS is better than nothing. I'm glad that cancer treatment has improved.

JoyousGreyOrca · 04/02/2025 00:09

I have lost two friends and my mother to cancer. Cancer is sadly commonplace.

Interesting to read how if someone has had cancer like Catherine, no one is supposed to criticise anything they do. I had better ell everyone I know who has had cancer - and I know a fair few people.

I don't want to know how awful he is. I already know. I have no wish to diminish my mental health by reading the crap!

And yes, people are absolutely taking a pop at a photo taken by a 6 year old!!

We have pretty much all lost loved ones to cancer. I lost my mother to cancer of the gall bladder way too young.

Most of us would feel some compassion towards someone who has survived it.

TheAirfryerQueen · 04/02/2025 00:13

It's a bit dark and out of focus. But a good effort from a six year old.

You think I have no compassion. I have compassion for all my friends who largely had challenging times in their lives whether surviving cancer, or other challenges.
But I do not think having survived a challenging time means they are now totally beyond any criticism ever.

Well I'd give them a bit of a break tbh.
