Harry v. NGN

Starting a thread for Tuesday.
This BBC article covers the basics. This is the last line ….
Tuesday really is the beginning of the end. And someone is going to lose - and lose big.

I have a feeling, that Harry won’t win but he just wants to use the public setting to air his grievances. A therapy session would have worked out much cheaper.

Prince Harry leaves the court during his hacking case against the Daily Mirror. He wears a dark coloured suit, white shirt and tie. His barrister David Sherborne, also dressed in a dark suit is on his left. A crowd of photographers are behind a metal...

Prince Harry versus newspapers: This is the one that matters

Prince Harry’s legal battle against British tabloids for allegedly unlawfully intruding into his life reaches its most important moment on Tuesday.

“unlawful activities carried out by private investigators working for the Sun”. This is the first time the Murdoch group has admitted “unlawful activities” by the Sun. The statement is attached

Lazy writing by Peston. The statement admits “unlawful activities” carried out by private investigators, not employees of the Sun. There’s a difference.

(and since I posted that statement on the thread earlier, yes, I have read it).

The PIs would have acted on instructions by the Sun.

@Choccyscofffy I don't think anything is going to make the disbelievers believe they are too enraged by their hate for Harry rather than face actual facts 😂

It’s a riot, isn’t it? 😂

It is being reported in the media by most outlets as a victory for Harry which is causing some of the royalists on this forum to be angry and upset.

No they’re not. They are reporting it as Harry taking a settlement instead of going to trial.
see the articles from the BBC and Telegraph listed.

Who knows? But Harry has had a victory today, and good on him.

Nice way of avoiding an awkward question.

NGN’s strategy for all these cases has been to proactively settle them. Every last one. Hugh Grant railed about this happening even as he himself settled. Henry railed about it and proudly proclaimed he would be the one who wouldn’t settle, he’d be the one to take them on. Then he too settled.

I think Murdoch and NGN will be delighted, frankly that their strategy has now completely played out successfully.

Who’s enraged by hate?

It’s only the Meghan n Harry’s super fans that use such language

And that was the bit was Harry was aiming to prove in court. But he settled, so he hasn’t.

IcedPurple · 22/01/2025 22:28

Does this Peston bloke not understand that admitting unlawful activities by freelance PI's working for The Sun is not the same thing as admitting to “unlawful activities” by the Sun"? It's a pretty crucial distinction, even if this Peston guy you're such a fan of seems not to get it.

It’s the same as when someone hires someone to kill someone. Do you think it’s just the killer found to blame or the person who paid him to do the dirty work as well? Think about it…

Yet again a thread is derailed by insults from people who are not posting in good faith.

So boring.

A settlement and apology is effectively admission of guilt.

Well if it’s that simple why aren't they all already in jail then…

IcedPurple · 22/01/2025 22:33

Choccyscofffy · 22/01/2025 22:32

It really isn't. Certainly not at the level where Harry was supposedly trying to prove guilt. They've fobbed it off on freelance PI's, and Harry has accepted this.

boredashellbythiscrap · 22/01/2025 22:34

@Atlasvue back to the same old crap of being super fans if you don't like the opinion of others. What are you then a super fan of the RF?

No, it's not the same.

They are saying that staff they hired participated in unlawful activities. They are not claiming they had any knowledge of those activities. Now that's probably not true, but that is what their statement, which Harry agreed to, has said.

Always the same. They were very quiet when the VF bullying article came out, but now they are back out trying to convince others that Harry backtracking on his word and accepting cash instead, is victory. Just for good measure they also claim others hateful, salty, have a vendetta if they don’t believe the same nonsense.

@Atlasvue you don't have a monopoly on posting this is a public forum.

Atlasvue · 22/01/2025 22:38

Choccyscofffy · 22/01/2025 22:32

A settlement and apology is effectively admission of guilt.

By that logic……Harry accepting is an admission that he had no evidence to push forward with the trial and needed to take the cash now because he wouldn’t be able to pay the fees when he lost.

We can all play that game

Oh my god, five more pages of “I’m rubber, you’re glue” before the thread limit puts us out of our misery – can’t we get back to 90s tabloid jokes and contacting Princess Di by ouija board to see which son is her favourite?
