No family, no friends, no familiar surroundings, no British culture (pubs etc), constant court cases, living in probably the most vacuous place on earth (albeit very beautiful),
@Atlasvue - just to add a petty and irrelevant snipe...

I know the Pacific coast is beautiful - but those neighbourhoods! Yes, they're very affluent but they're so manicured, unnatural and (whisper it)...suburban. And very restrictive. I bet hardly anyone ever walks anywhere - like the very wealthy roads near where I live - they're like the Valley of Death! The only humans you ever see, particularly walking, are 'the helps'. If I had that sort of money they're the last place I'd be buying a home. Very Meghan, I suppose, but not really Harry's cup of tea, I imagine. Living in a vibrant urban area like central London is one thing, but places like Montecito seem like suburbia on steroids.

Harry can go surfing but I bet he sometimes misses the wide open spaces of real countryside (that's not really an American concept, I suppose) or wild landscapes where he can do rugged things.

He genuinely seemed to love Africa - why didn't they relocate there? He could have genuine friends, plenty of very rich, discreet people working in conservation. He'd have been happy as a big in poo. Why anyone would choose California when they love all things sub-Saharan Africa is beyond me. Like chalk and cheese.

@Thebellofstclements

What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.

Victoria Arbiter’s response to the VF article is on point and very interesting.

Never has there been such a huge hate campaign against two people. Who cares if she’s a bully who shouts at her staff? They are at liberty to leave. Loads of high profile men are known for behaving like this. So what?

People on MN and the media seem hell bent on destroying these two people. It’s quite pathetic.

lol this is the angle the fans are taking now?

Who cares how horrible they are as people?! The worse thing is all the "hate" against them!

That doesn't even make sense 😂

FWIW I care because a. I think bullying is totally unacceptable and anyone doing it deserves to be called out and criticised in the heaviest terms for it and b. H&M position themselves globally as figureheads for anti bullying campaigns - which is disgustingly hypocritical.

Wow so you don’t care if they bully their staff? That says a lot about you. Do you say this about all victims of bullying or just the victims of the Sussexes?

Wow!
Really scrapping the barrel now. I post a very relevant perspective from a Royal journalist and then all of a sudden. You post this? That’s pathetic.

Beatrice and Eugenie have lived on the royal estate (Nott Cott and briefly Frogmore) but now both live with their families in their own homes

Princess Anne was given Gatcome as a present on her first marriage and kept it on divorcee. It’s an estate, not a single house, and I think both Peter and Zara live in properties there

Eugenie live ps In Ivy Cottage in a Kensington. Beatrice in St James. They both have other homes. Beatrice in the Cotswolds and Eugenie in Portugal because Jack works there.nthey are well taken care off. All of them.

I think that says a lot about you.
Would you take that approach if your DC were being bullied - ‘who cares’.
Nice

Lifestooshort71 · 19/01/2025 09:24

M& H if they'd played their cards right and left on good terms could have kept frogmore cottage, and spent summers at Balmoral and Christmas at Sandringham.
This would have given them star power in the US.
Americans but still in the family.
Utter stupidity with to do Oprah and Spare.
They took a huge gamble and it just didn't pay off.

WeCantGoOverIt · 19/01/2025 09:47

The only things they’ve had any real success with since leaving is selling their (and the RF’s) private lives - in spare and the Netflix series.

Rainbowscakes · 19/01/2025 09:48

Ironic as H&M are probably some of the most bullied celebs on the planet 😂

GreenTeaLikesMe · 19/01/2025 09:49

The really smart move would have been to spend the summer and winter school holidays in Cali while living quietly in the UK the rest of the time. That way you could enjoy Cali weather during the times of year when it makes the most difference, but the kids' main residence would continue to be the UK, which really matters under the Hague Convention; in the event of a split, they'd have to remain in the UK.

WeCantGoOverIt · 19/01/2025 09:51

Unlike most other Royals. Princess Ann had a real talent at something (horse-riding) and seems to have a very strong work ethic. I think both those things have helped her family build lives with interests independent of the RF.

Ironic that you only care about two people who you have no idea about. Not the multitude of people who have been badly affected by their actions, behaviour and abuse.
Thier supporters are always telling us that they are absolutely thriving and living their best life?!

Why so much Anglophobia I wonder?

Totally my take, and I'm happy to be shown to be wrong but:

The US is heading down a very RW path, Trump hasn't yet met a Dictator he doesn't love and seems especially influenced by Putin. Musk is out to get whatever he can for himself and also seems enthralled by RW/dictators/totalitarianism and I wouldn't be surprised if Putin has been speaking to him as well.

The UK has somewhat bucked the trend of politics and just elected a left wing Govt in a landslide.

Putin sees that this will only strengthen the EU, and a stronger, more stable EU is a threat to him, China and to the UK (in a whole myriad of ways - socially, trade, militarily, financially). You can add China into that mix as well as a country that financially benefits from a weaker Europe.

The hypocrisy of the pair of them is off the scale though. Their anti-bullying, Internet safety stance is laughable in the face of their own actions and the actions of their fan base, and rather than calling the appalling behaviour of some of their staunchest fans out, Harry and Meghan thank them for their support.

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 19/01/2025 09:58

Well, she does have a knack for saying in ten lines what most people would say in two. So she could in theory write a very long book about anything and/or nothing.

She could call it "50 Shades of Beige".

Because they have set themselves up as anti bullying campaigners, and have influence at governmental level (directly through sharing platforms with governmental officials, indirectly with their work with the Aspen Institute, indirectly with their partnership with influential NGOs) on matters relating to on-line censorship. They are influencing matters that effect everyone, and they are hypocrites.

Hughs · 19/01/2025 10:16

"Who cares if Meghan abuses people and leaves them needing therapy, they are at liberty to leave" is a pretty hot take, even by SS standards 🤪🫠

I see the script has been finalised and the squad despatched.

The bullet points:

  • H & M are being targeted by a hate campaign
  • H & M are the ones being bullied - online and in the mainstream media
  • Nobody cares what they did anyway except weirdos
  • M is the victim of misogyny, criticised for behaviour men get away with all the time
Edited to add: I'm off to the other thread, where a single sugar is holding the fort, to see if/when it appears there.
Rainbowscakes · 19/01/2025 10:22

The outpouring of hatred towards people you don’t even know is crazy. I’m not a fan as such, just somebody who was astonished at the hate articles printed about them every single day right from the start, and also the bizarre level of interest from Piers Morgan.

Don’t people remember or care what happened to Caroline Flack? I think people need to remember that H&M are real people with children. Whatever your thoughts, however much you dislike what you read about them or anybody else, nobody deserves to be hounded by the press each day the way these two are.

Oh I get it.

#Bekind

But only towards Meghan and Harry, they have children don’t you know. Fuck their employees though. Even if the bullied employees have children, it doesn’t matter! Harry and Meghan pay their wages so can shout, bully and intimidate them as much as they want. If they don’t like being treated like shit, that’s there own problem and they should leave. But don’t highlight Harry & Meghan bullying them, coz that’s so so mean.

Gotcha 😉 🤣
