Catherine’s return to duties

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 14/01/2025 12:58

Catherine has returned to her public duties and has visited the Royal Marsden hospital today to “show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world-leading care and treatment the Marsden provides".

It has been revealed that she attended her chemotherapy appointments at Royal Marsden. She thanked staff and visited patients for approximately an hour. It’s also been released that she will join William in becoming a royal patron of the hospital.

Love the colour not sure about the hat though.

ERthree · 10/03/2025 17:06

Catherine looks so elegant and William is clearly delighted to have her by his side.

SnidelyWhiplash · 10/03/2025 17:56

Kate looks great in that coat. Last time she wore it, she paired it with a hideous hat, this one was better.

Good to both Catherine and Charles looking well at the Commonwealth service.

lizzyBennet08 · 10/03/2025 23:05

It's nice to see her attending but I think she looks quite gaunt actually. I know she's always been very slim but she looks to have lost a little more weight which is not surprising considering everything she has gone through. I'd like to see her put her feet up for the summer and give herself some extra time to fully recuperate .

Not2identifying · 10/03/2025 23:10

Off topic, and I don't know how to post photos, but the Duchess of Gloucester looked lovely at the Commonwealth service.

If she does, the Royal family thread will be innodated by posters calling her lazy and far worse.

The public perception surveys from the Centre for Early Childhood show more nuance than your statement ‘everyone knows’ Jaquettes - the first showed that in general pop over 36% didn’t understand the importance of 0-5 in shaping later outcomes and even within parents that figure was over 20% and they focused on physical development milestones and had less/little understanding of social and emotional development.

The first report does explore barriers around spending time with children and makes recommendations around childcare support etc and the business task force was set up to spearhead change in business settings for parents

The survey questions were designed to get that outcome. It asked people what age range is the most important for children's development. The most common response after 0-5, was all ages are important. That answer is very different from alleging those parents do not understand the importance of early years.

Don't like the necklace with that neckline-they're fighting a bit. One or 'tother. IMO.

Samcro · 11/03/2025 11:28

lovely photos. she does look very thin though.

I think people already know drawing with your kids is a fun thing to do - as is cooking with your kids, game of footie in the park, or hitting a tennis ball with a racquet up against the wall etc.

The sharing of the drawings is well meant but in my opinion not going to have much impact. The problems people face in the first 5 years of their children’s lives are complex and wide ranging and none of it happens in a vacuum.

I think this is borne out by the response to the sketches. People seem to be mainly arguing about the level of skill of the artists rather than the intended message. The media is responding similarly (maybe even setting the tone) to the point of getting ‘experts’ to comment on the children’s drawings.

Everyone knows already that the first five years are very important and that spending time with your kids is good. Why people aren’t doing so, is the problem and the question.

Not sure where you live but where I live, children being 'raised' in chaotic households is common, where drawing, baking, playing with your children is pretty much non existent. Many have no idea of the importance of the first 5 years, not a clue about the importance of interacting with their children, teeth brushing, eating fruit and veg. Many don't feed or bathe or dress their children properly. The notion of reading their child a bedtime story would never cross their minds.

I know you're against the initiative because of Catherine's involvement, but surely you can understand any focus has to be welcomed.

JoyousGreyOrca · 11/03/2025 13:55

@Reetpetitenot Of course they know much of that is important. They just have no idea how to achieve it or are so overwhelmed with just getting through each day.
Its like we know that not drinking too much alcohol and eating healthy is good for us, but many of us find it too difficult to do.
We know the barriers, there has been lots of research on this, but tackling it is political and so the Royal Family will not touch it. That is why Catherine is forced to issue obvious research. She should never have focused on young kids. She needed a cause where she could make a real difference without being political.

Reetpetitenot · 11/03/2025 16:06

You obviously have absolutely no idea.

lol, her and her husband have done nothing but "put their feet up" for years

SnidelyWhiplash · 11/03/2025 18:18

I think Kate looks the picture of health. Not too thin at all.

I also think she’s been lucky enough to have the cancer experience every sufferer deserves but few get. No ‘working’, maximum resting, the best treatment and undoubtedly, diet. I’m not sure she needs to put her feet up for months on end if she’s recovered, she’s hardly doing lots of engagements.

Not2identifying · 11/03/2025 18:21

She always takes every summer off!

I like Kate but she's never been known for her work ethic.

That's what they do... 🤷‍♀️ The queen would take pretty much all of it off.

SnidelyWhiplash · 15/03/2025 18:18

I’d love to chop 5 inches off Kate’s hair. Or preferably, get a hairdresser to do it 😬

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 15/03/2025 18:30

Before the match, they met injured players supported by Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust in the Sir Tasker Watkins Suite.

She usually goes in for theme dressing (at least with colour). So I'm a bit surprised by the colour but I think she looks well and happy.

I'm from England so understandable I would say that surely? And last Sunday against Italy, the atmosphere was fab.
Poor Wales my arse!

Well done England !

They played brilliantly whatever happens with France.
