Netflix has delayed start of Meghans show

Just seen on Sky News. Breaking News headlines. Delayed because of the wild fires didn't say if this was technical difficulties or it would be a bit crass to launch a frothy type lifestyle show with all the devastation. Anyway it might be shelved for good with any luck.

@Spectre8 I'm interested to know, what are your thoughts on the VF article?

Wanttoadoptadog · 18/01/2025 00:15

Mean girl indeed.

Meghan would become cold and withholding toward the person she perceived to be responsible. The source says it was “really, really, really awful. Very painful. Because she’s constantly playing checkers—I’m not even going to say chess—but she’s just very aware of where everybody is on her board. And when you are not in, you are to be thrown to the wolves at any given moment.” In practice, they say, that manifested as “undermining. It’s talking behind your back. It’s gnawing at your sense of self. Really, like, Mean Girls teenager.”

Wanttoadoptadog · 18/01/2025 00:18

Goodness me.

Two sources say a colleague with ties to Archetypes took a leave of absence after working on three episodes, then left Gimlet altogether. Several others described taking extended breaks from work to escape scrutiny, exiting their job, or undergoing long-term therapy after working with Meghan

Vespanest · 18/01/2025 02:00

Vanity fair is brutal, so much for it's just the nasty British press and its just "salty" Britain. 2025 seems to be quickly turinging into Annus Horribilis.

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 18/01/2025 02:51

The timing of the article is impeccable; just as she’s trying her latest relaunch.

I agree with PP; they’re over. Even the US has turned on them now, and the mainstream, not just the fringes as before.

LaMarschallin · 18/01/2025 07:25

Spectre8 · 17/01/2025 23:56

It's not travelling for long though, in monday Trump becomes President and that will be the story for days if not weeks esp in the US just like it was last time, reporting on what he does in the first few weeks. It will dominate the news including here in the UK. Only people talking about it will here and other social media platforms but to be honest alot of people will be more interested in what goes on with Trump.

Edited

Oh.
That's okay then.
Doesn't matter if the VF article is true, it'll all be swept under the carpet because of Trump.
What a relief!

Meanwhile, back in real life, people are capable of holding more than one thought/news story in their heads.

Also, Trump - who may be the one person on the planet with thinner skin than H&M - has been mentioned as one of "these guys", along with Putin, in the quote that will haunt Harry:
“I have very bad childhood trauma. Obviously. My mother was essentially murdered. What is it about me that didn’t make me one of these bad guys?”

Very rarely happens, but I actually did lol at that. I didn't rofl or weep tears of laughter because that would be a really odd thing to do, but lol I did.

The press will certainly turn their attention elsewhere but I think this will still have a long term effect. The fact that the serious publications, The Times, The Hollywood Reporter and Vanity Fair have all written long articles with lots of sources about bullying in three different contexts is a problem. The stories are all consistent as to patterns of behaviour too.

The press will move on but I think this will affect future work opportunities for them. There are parts of the article i suspect are rumour but the bullying part seems credible because it's consistent with other reports.

CaraCameleon · 18/01/2025 07:36

The pattern of Meghan's behaviour described accords perfectly with how she treated her father. It’s also how she treated her first husband. If anyone is a psychologist I am fascinated to know what the roots of this sort of response may be. Something from her childhood without a doubt.

Except that this is exactly the kind of celebrity hot mess that people love to read about to distract from the upcoming ahitahow administration.

I think you're right.

It was an interesting post though.
Not "This article is untrue" but "Phew! The article will be forgotten as this is a good time to bury bad news".

Thedom · 18/01/2025 09:39

They clearly have a reputation for bullying their employees and creating a toxic work environment, and that attitude has also been exposed in some of her public appearances.

As someone on the other thread pointed out, this is how Ellen was finally outed as a workplace bully, the voices got too loud to ignore.

garlicandsapphires · 18/01/2025 09:51

Wow. I wonder if they’ll read it?
no one can accuse VF of being a gossip rag.

I wrote it because a certain poster is so gleeful about her bringing brought down that they are relaihing in this news except news moves on super quick. Headlines cna change within hours. Whilst on here and some other social media platforms will continue to talk about in the media it's old news and they on to the next thing. That's just how it is.

What do you think is going to happen? Last time when the report didn't come out and you were all talking about people saying she bullied people it didn't bring her down. Like people saying they are running out of money yet here they are almost 5yrs since leaving and they still have money and they are still together.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 18/01/2025 10:29

Apart from there are now 3 separate reports of bullying and they can’t all be blamed on the racist RF or the racist ‘British media’. Vanity fair is a not a rag and has been complimentary about the Sussexes before so this is a bit of a sea change.

Four actually - there’s the Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Vanity Fair and Jason’s Knauf’s original complaint to HR.

You don’t know that they still have money. The amounts they were paid were nowhere near what the squad were saying and to maintain their lifestyle they have to continually bring in huge sums of money. None of the big brands want to work with them and it remains to be seen if they keep their Netflix contract. Where will this money come from?

CathyorClaire · 18/01/2025 10:40

Where will this money come from?

I think Papa is and has been subbing his darling boy for a while now.

Any update on the "complicated cancer narrative the Waleses have been projecting"?

Still would really like to know exactly what the poster meant.

Any update ?

I do too.

I also think the US/Californian state/NY state governments have had a hand in their security costs because they don't want a safety scandal involving the most famous family in the world on their hands. Hence the visa case going the way it did.

Not sure what this means - a "covfefe" moment is the kindest take.

I don't know and I don't really care.

Me and all who now? I'm just a random poster on MN. I've never said anything about them running out of money. Please go ahead and check. I don't change my name.

So, are you saying it doesn't matter if the article is true, it'll just get buried by Trump news? And you're just concerned about what "a certain poster" writes?

Not as far as I can see.
Maybe keeping their head down and hoping that their post will be buried by the VF article.
Which, apparently, will be buried by Trump news.
Sometimes it's sad who people have to be grateful to.

So, but for this article being buried by Trump's inauguration, do you think its contents need to be investigated? Do you think allegations made against 2 very rich, powerful, well connected - at the highest levels - anti bullying and anti free speech campaigners merits a further investigation/conversation?

And you sont know they are running out. But what we a do know is that they are still able to afford to live where they are so that tells you they have money.

Money is no doubt invested its what rich people do, money making money. Then again that's open to all of us we can invest our money to make money too.

This article may well be superseded by the Trump inauguration but it's not going away. These articles serve to regurgitate things from the past and people look at them and say " oh yes" . Hindsight makes things look different and not always for the better. I can't imagine it's a very happy weekend in Montecito Mansion.
