Just seen on Sky News. Breaking News headlines. Delayed because of the wild fires didn't say if this was technical difficulties or it would be a bit crass to launch a frothy type lifestyle show with all the devastation. Anyway it might be shelved for good with any luck.

There are some nice pictures of, I think, George, at a polo match when he was little. I remember because he was wearing crocs. And they were having a car boot picnic of the sort some people on here were insisting polo people would never, ever do.

So not just letting them run about then, but very carefully supervising them?
Its irrelevant to the royal family, just I would never take young children to a polo match as it sounds stressful

From my experience, families tend to gravitate together so lots of parents helping each other. And the glamourous singles hang out near the champagne tent.

Although I recently went to a much more informal American polo event which was like being at a tailgate party outside a football stadium - there were beer trucks and food trucks and bouncy castles etc. Was wild. And very kid friendly. Lot less posh than the polo that Harry and William attend.

You are projecting. Letting children run around in a field away from the horses whilst keeping an eye on them is probably quite stress free and fun for the children. Especially as other parents will be around to keep an eye out too. They don’t need to be “very carefully supervised”. It’s often like that at outdoor sporting events

MerryMaker · 16/01/2025 19:29

The horses would make me very nervous and I would very closely supervise tiny children. It would not be my choice for a picnic location with young children,

Neither of us have a clue. You talk as if you know these people. You do not. They are total strangers to you. They might keep their kids locked up in a cupboard, or spend hours every day taking them in playdates and to private beaches. Neither of us have a clue.

Don't be ridiculous. You speak as if you know them just as much as anyone!!!

He is still not a toddler. 5 year olds are at school here.

I rather feel they'll be described as "toddlers" or "tiny children" or, eventually, "192 months old" for as long as it pulls at the heartstrings. Like calling one's father "Daddy" pulls at the same heartstrings.

For the last time, I was describing Lillibet as a toddler.

CathyorClaire · 16/01/2025 19:47

I’m not remotely saying it’s crass, if that’s aimed at me.

It wasn't.

I was just wondering why Rachel was particularly picked out as 'crass' in the original post when Henry was sporting a similar titfer which appeared to be an equally artful choice.

MerryMaker · 16/01/2025 18:51

One of the children is a toddler.
I did not say Archie a toddler. I said I would not want to take a toddler to a polo match. Lilibet IS a toddler.

Surely it is a very dangerous environment to just let toddlers run about at?

I wouldn't call Lili a "toddler". She is only a few months off being 4.

Lillibet is 3 years old. It is 5 months until she turns 4 years old.

MerryMaker · 16/01/2025 18:54

Lots of places, including wikipedia and the NHS, define a toddler as 1-3 years old.

Well she is coming 4.

Yes, I said "a few months". That includes 5 months, doesn't it???!

Talk about splitting hairs!

She is 3. It is 5 months until she turns 4.
I mean you could argue she is coming 21, it does not stop her being 3 years old.

No a few months does not normally include 5 months

OMG. You are being disagreeable now just for the sake of it. It's not a good look. Do you also argue with your toenails?

Define a "few months" then???

William and Kate have taken their children to polo, same with the Tindalls and the Phillips family - Meghan took Archie as a baby when she held him in that awkward pose that looked as if she had never done it before!

Well you could if you wanted but you would be wrong and you would be making yourself look spectacularly stupid!

Well exactly. You are projecting because you are nervous of horses. Horses are not in themselves dangerous to small children. The horses at a polo match are being ridden and if one gets loose it is unlikely that it will get very far. You would obviously not allow the small children to get too near the field of play unsupervised as I said, but otherwise they would be quite safe. The point is that a
lot of people do take their small children to polo matches and posters are wondering why Archie and Lili are not given the opportunity to mix with these other children 🤷‍♀️

Things are looking up

Netflix has delayed start of Meghans show
MerryMaker · 16/01/2025 21:06

@smilesy I said clearly my comments about very young children and polo matches really had nothing to do with the Royal topic.

We know Harry plays polo. Maybe Meghan finds polo boring so is not that keen on hanging out there with the kids? Or maybe she does hang out there with the kids but no photos have been leaked? Either way it does not really matter.

EdithWeston · 16/01/2025 21:07

Mildly surprised at the number saying that the level of supervision for DC at a polo match is onerous.

I assume however that they are not the same posters who criticised Kate for not helping Meghan with baby Archie at a polo match. Because of course the supervision of her own 3 DC was such a doddle that she had attention to spare to help with another.

itsstillmehere · 16/01/2025 21:10

Oh for gods sake 😂😂😂 are horses dangerous for children? When is a child a toddler ? Some of you would argue black is white 😂
